Haven't read any of this thread really, but I can't think of another show in 2022 that had better written dialogue than Andor. Nothing but bars, man. Every line is so deliberate and descriptive and interesting. It's honestly incredible.

We re-watched Rogue One on Christmas Eve "Climb! Climb!" was a punch in the gut.

I burn my life to make a sunrise I'll never see - just a stunning line of dialogue.

Serkis was so good in his role. We all already knew Skarsgard was a world class actor and could deliver, but damn, Serkis showed a ton in this show. To me there was a ton of range he put into his character, from the dialogue delivery to the facial expressions, etc.

Incredible 47-minute interview with the ladies of Andor - Meero, Bix, Mon Mothma and Aunt Petunia.

Interesting and three very good looking women to stare at. (No offense, Mrs. Dursley)

She needs an agent that helps her make better choices, though I suppose on paper "action movie with Ryan Reynolds" and "Marvel project with Jared Leto" sound like they'd be good projects

I'm not sure if this was discussed earlier, so sorry if a repeat, but one thing I really liked about this first season was that there were several story arcs with multiple climaxes throughout the season.

I feel like so many shows follow the pattern of one ultimate story arc in a season, continually adding unknown elements throughout the season that they try to satisfy in one moment at the climax. Not bad, per say, but has become the defacto story-telling mechanism.

Andor went through the Aldahni heist, the Narkina 5 prison, and finally the story culminated in the Rix Road riot. Each element served the bigger story, but ultimately rewarded the audience with some progression, closing some loops, but maintaining interest how the characters would resolve some of the bigger questions.

Well said. One of the many things the show did well.

Just had an idea and SIAP. But do we think in season 2 we could see Ahsoka as the Fulcrum? Organa introducing to Mon Monthma and then to Luthen or something. I just watched Tales of the Jedi and saw the Ahsoka-Organa interaction and it got me thinking.

I'd be totally fine if not as I'd prefer this series to stick to relatively unknown characters.

Timewise it would make sense, as Andor is around 5 BBY and Ahsoka is revealed as Fulcrum in 4 BBY. We know that at some point Andor himself became Fulcrum after Kallus has to flee the Empire to avoid getting killed by Thrawn.

Having Ahsoka pass the mantle to Cassian Andor as Fulcrum would be more than a little staggering to see on screen.

Ok so thinking about starting this one because it's supposed to be really good.

My question (no, I haven't read the whole thread in order to avoid spoilers) - my Star Wars knowledge is limited to the original 3 movies, and maybe 1 or 2 of the the newer movies. Will it still be good? In other words - is it pretty good as a stand alone for someone who isn't super knowledgeable on Star Wars?

My first hunch would be a resounding yes.

Have you seen Rogue One? That may be nice to have seen before this..

You can take out the Star Wars parts entirely, and it would be like watching any great drama about a corrupt state, people trying to survive inside its harsh reality, and what it takes for good people to start standing up.

I'm not nearly at the level of nerd that some of the people on this thread are, but I recommend watching Rogue One before starting.

There is value in waiting to watch Rogue One after Andor is done as a series, but we don't know when that will be.

Yea if someone could watch Andor all the way through and then Rogue One all fresh that would be awesome I am sure.

I think that's a lot of what makes it so good. The creator isn't a Star Wars fan and just set out to tell a good story and it shows, it's not hung up on fan service like a lot of the movies are.

There's a subset of fans (including Star Wars Theory) who disliked the show specifically because it didn't feel like Star Wars to them.

It's amazing to me that someone couldn't appreciate what this series did, especially a Star Wars fan. This is really the first time someone has taken an approach of verisimilitude, drama, etc, to where the SW stuff is just the window dressing, and I freaking loved it.

Stumbled across our first season of the Mandalorian thread today. Some staggering predictions from 2 months before it ever debuted including.

bluefire579: The real question is, will we get to see a live action darksaber?

Spilner - wrong show, right idea: So what do we think we'll see on Tatooine?

Will the power vacuum left by Jabba be a major plot point in the show?

TCTTS: Same klan or people or whatever, though.

Then there's this:

Jon Favreau Says Boba Fett Will not be in The Mandalorian - #D23expo #StarWars #TheMandalorian - http://bit.ly/320VCFr

Arrakis ecologist: If Darth Maul can get put back together, and Admiral Thrawn can get canonized in Rebels, Boba Fett can crawl out of the damn Sarlacc.....

TC got in his first argument on Page 4.

At the risk of sounding like Sepinwall this show was too far on the wrong side of "an 8 hour movie" instead of a TV show for me. Each episode needs three act structure, cliffhangers, arcs, etc. The things all classic TV shows have. On a stand alone episode rating they had none of that, and I wasn't a huge fan of individual episodes. I don't think I had a single favorite episode that I'd rewatch on its own.
Overall it was great but probably would have been better served as a long movie or two movies.

Episodes 3-6 and 7-10 both could have been movies. As in the story was so good that it could've easily justified an Andor movie.

The beginning of the show really drags, but it keeps gaining more and more momentum with a strong as hell finish.

I can see arguments against its length.
