Agreed. I already liked Hiddleston as Loki, but seeing him hold his own alongside Hugh Laurie was really cool.

It didn't hurt that LeCarre is one of my favorite writers ever.

DO NOT watch a breakdown of it…..it hints at something big that while it's been hinted at already this would confirm it

Same. Almost every breakdown video has the same sounding voice... must all be using that adult, male living in mom's basement audio filter.

If i ever have enough time, I always want to do a fake one that breaks down the most obvious things in a trailer as being super conspiracy level. "The S in Star Wars" is shaped a lot like the road to George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch, which I believe means he is about to buy the franchise back from Disney."

I was thinking even more obvious.

"Right here he says "emperor palpatine" this is actually a reference to the emperor that y'all might remember from the prequels, original trilogy, and the Rise of Skywalker. He was secretly in the background manipulating events."

I really wanted to do one for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series trailer. Like I was the first person online to figure out it was a series about Obi-Wan based on the long-off shot of him on the eopie to start the trailer.

I really need to win the mega-lotto to really achieve my full potential of creative projects that have no monetary value.

I just got caught up on season 1, so had been avoiding this thread.
I have mixed emotions on this show.
It's clearly well written, nice slow burn, some interesting characters. I like the idea of a more adult SW series.
But this just doesn't feel like the SW world to me. Through the first seven episodes, you could have substituted just about any "bad ruler" for the empire and nothing would have changed, except for a few TIE fighter shots or vague Palpatine/senate references. The cameo or introduction in 8 was nice and starts to get us to that world. But Star Wars is about magic in various forms. A true good vs evil, a desperate cause to rally around etc. This show is not that. At least not yet. Hopefully it finds its balance eventually like Rogue One did.

I've honestly never once thought this, in 40 years of watching the franchise. To me it's always been more about faith and temptation rather than "magic." Good vs evil, though, absolutely, and IMO this has been one of the absolute best of the franchise at showing a more infuriating side of that evil, and what the struggle would truly be like to finally and effectively try and confront it.

Star Wars is a space western/adventure, bottom line. Sometimes it has the force, and most of the movies have been about that. But there is a reason Han Solo is top 3 of most peoples favorites, and probably Chewbacca too.
If there is a natural way for the force to appear in this show, then i am all for it...but I don't see how it would fit

That being said, I would love to see a show with this tone take on a force using character (or multiple). Its essentially just another weapon or form of power.

Magic was kind of a catch all phrase. Religion; supernatural,, occult…but from a small kid's perspective it all felt like magic when I was in the theater in 1977. It's still the lens I see it through.

I agree with everything he said, except the exact opposite.

I will add my two cents that, while I really like this show, I enjoy the force and the jedi. Part of why I can't wait for Ahsoka and was somewhat disappointed with Obi-Wan

The fact that this doesn't have Jedi in it is exactly what I love about it. Felt like Disney Star Wars was just turning into a cool Jedi scene followed by waiting until a Jedi did the next cool thing. There is more life and story in these 8 episodes than there is in all of 7, 8, and 9.

Big fat 2 minute tease of tonight's episode. Sort of hoping the Astros game goes 25 innings and I can just turn on Andor when the last out is made.

Like many others, we just caught up with the show today. We love the feel of it and how gritty it is. The acting has been fantastic, the world-building is phenomenal, and the weight of the Empire on the common person is crushing. It sort of sets up Leia's line "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers".

Going back to the post about how much influence the Nazis have on the Empire, my wife commented on the similarity between the ISB uniform as Meero was putting hers on and Nazi uniforms.

The feeling a person like Andor must have had for getting picked up for being in the wrong place at the wrong time has to be devastating, although as was already posted, he isn't really innocent.

Also, I don't remember seeing it posted, but how ironic is it that the sentence for Andor's "crime" was extended to six years from six months due solely to the heist of the payroll.

And now I realize Andor stole its plot from an episode of Seinfeld

Thanks and gig'em

You have completely lost your predictive powers. The way we look tonight I'm not sure we have 25 innings left in the World Series. Hope I'm wrong.

At least I have Andor as a distraction!

I've predicted the score right for 3 of the astros 10 playoff games. Nobody else has done it for even one!

Aww damn. I didn't know him, but I liked him.

Damn, that's a dirty trick by the Empire. Just released to another level?

What a great line to end the episode on.

"Never more than twelve."

Hell. Yes.

Serkis joins the escape. Would be awesome if he actually joins the rebellion as well, and becomes a permanent cast member going forward.

All I know is that every episode is somehow more tense than the last, and that the real breakout is Denise Gough, seeing as Meero is electric in every scene she has. She's really starting to own this show, and it's so fun to watch, made even more impressive that we're technically supposed to be rooting against her.

Oh, and I need a Syril Karn serial killer Star Wars spin-off ASAP. That dude is an absolute psychopath, and it would be amazing to watch him completely disassociate, go on some kind of righteous, Dexter-esque, galaxy-wide killing spree, as we follow a bickering pair of buddy cop space detectives trying to track him down.

Yeah, he took a real turn there, didn't he.

I thought these were supposed to finish up in threes. Damn was I frustrated when it was over. So Luthen wanted Saw to meet this Kruger person, and now the ISB finds a pilot associated with Kruger. It's a small galaxy, after all. Not to mention Val and Mon.

I loved the camera letting Andy Serkis do work and watching him go from "keep the peace" to "time to eff stuff up" all non-verbally, just facial expressions as the doctor but Ulaf to sleep and told them about 2. Great work. Which probably means he's going to die in the jail break but whatever.

Denise Gough makes her mistake, calling Aunt Petunia too old and frail to do anything. That suicide bomb run is going to taste bitter in the Imps mouths.

Can't wait to see who the Chandrilan gangster is going to be. Mark Hamill? Snoop Dogg?

Something that is now full on bothering me is why is Mon Mothma still on Coruscant? She says if she says active they won't see what she's really up to, but why does she have to do it from Coruscant? If credits are truly a physical currency thing as per the payroll then couldn't she just pull all of her funds, disappear, and join the Rebellion from a secure location? There's got to be a billion people out there who are rich and just vanish to enjoy their wealth and have a private air strip and comm unit at their estate for visitors.

The waif continues to get the best lines.

IDK WTF Henry Thomas is up too. That definitely seemed like a off the deep end stalker situation. He seems convinced he's about to get recruited by ISB at any moment. That's twice he's been rejected by her/them, where does he go next?

Was the incident on level 2 truly the result of an accident and the Empire wanted to squash rumors of it leaking out that they messed up. Or were they never actually releasing prisoners, just moving them around the facility?

I feel like maybe they actually were releasing people before the new sanctions that got Andor arrested. Whoever got released probably got swept up in some sort of BS just like Andor did, and he was right back into the factory, just on a different level. EIther they didn't realize he was the same guy all over again, or he kept his mouth shut until he was back inside. If they started to riot in their room, the blackout was caused by them turning the floor of 2 into a bug zapper to fry them all.

By the way, I love how polite the creepy doctor was to Bix.
