Done nothing about it? Do you know Obi Wan's character at all? There's a brotherly and fatherly guilt that he carries. Always. He's the most loyal friend you have multiplied by 10x. Oh and he's also the single greatest master of form 3 Soresu. He's essentially a Paladin. Meant to take the blows of his enemies for his friends and strike when only he must. I couldn't connect more with any other character. It's no wonder he's been my favorite character since I was 10-11 years old

I can't explain it to you if you don't understand the character. Obi is not going to kill Vader after he's defeated. Remember when Anakin beheaded Dooku, and Obi yelled "no, Anakin!". Jedi code, man. Yeah the universe is better with Vader dead, but there's more nuance to it than that. Obi rides the high ride to the end.
The first part happened, the second part did not. Dooku had dropped a platform on OW and he was unconscious. Perhaps you are remembering Episode II, when we clearly hear Qui Gonn yell "No!" as Anakin is slaughtering the sand people.Quote:

I'd like to think in that moment, Obi-Wan thinks of all his misery and agony of the past 10 years, then envisions what those 10 years have been like for Anakin - utterly trapped in the suit, subservient to the Emperor, literally no one to talk to about anything. Wife dead by his own hand. The addition of Hayden in the suit 10 years later and seeing his face in there is a great visual to bridge the PT and OT.The Collective said:

i agree with most of this. as you note, there are multiple way to explain why Obi Wan would walk away. maybe the Empire interferes...maybe Obi Wan has to rush off to save Luke or Leia...maybe Obi Wan just cannot bring himself to pull the trigger. We not only didn't get any of that, but we got statements from Obi Wan like "this ends today!" and "i'll do what i must" that directly contradict a decision to walk away. we've known all along that Obi Wan and Vader would clash at least once and we know that both survive, so it is just really troubling that they so badly mangled it.Dekker_Lentz said:

It really is hard to imagine that Obi-Wan would just walk away. Honestly, it would have been far better writing to simply have Obi Wan pause like Luke did with Kylo Ren and then have a squadron of TIE Fighter strafe him and the Grand Inquisitor and a couple of Brothers and Sisters fall out of a shuttle with spinning sabers. This would show the might of the Empire, give Obi Wan a reason to bug out, and show Vader getting rescued. You would still get the turmoil inside Obi Wan and give him a plausible reason to leave Vader alive.
Instead he walks away to go and give Leia a big hug on Alderaan while he knows he willing left the biggest threat to her and her family alive.
Honestly, this show did more to tarnish Obi Wan than anything else.
