Loved the ending. The last duel was amazing and what we should have gotten with Yoda in the prequels.

Six-ish hours of:
Repeated story lines, undeveloped characters, plot holes, Benny Hill level incompetence from the enemies to go with poor (or at the very least mis-cast) actors and parkour.
You could have condensed the whole series down to a 2-1/2 hour movie & not lost a single thing.
Just need to accept the fact that it's just a money grab by Disney. Put out anything Star Wars and the fans would eat it up no matter how bad it is. Plus, they want to pull in the younger folks who really don't care or know about Star Wars canon so they couldn't care less about any plot holes.
Someone needs to do that like they did with the PT movies to make them bearable.
I've accepted it & I'll be cancelling my Disney subscription today. When the next season of the Mandalorian has been completely released I'll pay for a month & binge-watch & then cancel again. Besides Rogue 1 & to a lesser extent Solo, Mando is the only thing I've thought was great since the film/tv universe cranked back up in '99. (Not interested in the animated stuff)Quote:

I think we are due for some good books to be written again, but now that Disney is making tv shows out the wazoo that may never happen again. They dont want to be restricted in what they can create, I would assume.
What's really weird to me about how this show failed is that I think the hard part of this show was always going to be handling the iconic characters, but that part they actually mostly got right. Even kid Leia was starting to grow on me.
But it's just the mechanics of telling a good story where this show failed. Bizarre plot holes, jumpy scenes, awful dialogue, new characters coming in and out, just bizarrely shot sequences that made it look cheap, etc.
Like, they got the hard part right, and screwed up stuff that should be impossible to screw up working with a Disney budget and Disney talent.
But I'm still in for Andor.

I enjoyed it enough for what it was and look forward to a second season.
The Vader getting his mask cut in half by both Asoka and Ben was kind of lazy but I get why they did it. It was an effective scene.

overall, i liked the finale, but man, the production quality was so sketchy at times. i get that it's not a movie, but when the mandalorian episodes look so good, there's no reason kenobi shouldn't too.
obviously the reva story arc is just a hot mess and it hurt the finale to keep cutting from this amazing fight to watch her arc.
there were already a lot of arguments for obi wan being the best jedi we've seen on screen. does this episode cement that? just imagine if he hadn't spent the last 10years closed off in a cave

thinking that through, you can explain her following vader because she wants revenge on anakin and the rest of the jedi. she does bad things with vader to do that, but she's blinded by the need for revenge.
then you have kenobi tell her at the door in episode 5 that anakin is vader and it shakes everything she's thought. that causes her to impulsively attack anakin/vader and leaves her for dead. then you could have one of the other inquisitors find the transmission from Bail about Luke and that inquisitor decides he's going to Tatooine to find the boy that Bail speaks of.
then on Tatooine, you could let Reva be the one to save Luke from the other inquisitor, but she dies in the process. that gives her character a full redemption arc as she does what Anakin failed to do...protect the force sensitive child, and dies at peace.
Well…this was definitely the best episode of the series. Thought the duel between Vader and Kenobi was done about as good as it could be to keep it canon and after watching an Easter egg video on this episode the stuff with Luke doesn't bother me at all.
Finally got qui-gon as well but dang it just seems like this whole story could've been so much better….

I didn't see her die so she is definitely going to make another appearance.

What do we mean "best"? He's probably the best with a lightsaber. Though Anakin is probably better overall and just has a weakness for Obi Wan.
But as for overall power, like it or not, even prime Obi Wan is getting absolutely wiped by Rey.
I think one of my favorite things of this series was all the scenes of Vader walking REALLY fast. Much faster than we'd ever seen.

See I think all of this is still over-complicating the issue, which was the problem with that story all along.
This is the bad guys' plan here:
Reva is obsessed with killing Vader/Anakin because of what happened to her as a child. Anakin knows this and keeps her close (for... reasons?). Somehow she pieces together a connection between Bail Organa and Obi Wan that Vader couldn't (?) and sets in motion a plan to draw out Obi Wan. This plan actually works, and she draws out Obi Wan, but fails to capture him and he escapes. Now, they all end up on a planet chasing Obi Wan and Reva goes on a side quest to kidnap Leia (again) while Vader ALMOST KILLS Obi Wan. (He could have very easily died there, and then what would Reva's plan be?) Okay so now Reva takes Leia to the fortress to torture her so she can lead them to the rest of the Jedi (nevermind that ultimately this will result in the deaths of countless innocent lives and do nothing to give her a chance at killing Vader.) When she can't get the info she lets Leia escape with Obi Wan to lead them to the planet. Then they ultimately get to the planet, hijinks ensue, and she finally gets a shot at killing Anakin and fails spectacularly. (This whole sequence is weird. Obi Wan surrenders, makes this plan with Reva, and then she immediately basically lets him escape back to the colonists?) But then she lives, hears about a boy on Tattooine, and decides she's going to kill him for... what exactly?
What exactly is the plan here? Who is actually planning what? This is so insanely convoluted that it makes the emperors plan to completely overthrow galactic democracy in the prequels look straightforward.

The only problem I see, following that train of logic, is that she called the Jedi/other younglings the only family she ever had. So she obviously still has affection for at least some portion of Jedi. So while I would understand the need for revenge on Anakin it would still be hard to understand her hatred of all Jedi.
Now if she had specifically been hunting certain Jedi who survived Order 66 that were connected to Anakin that would make more sense. Then realized "Oh Crap. I've been working for this guy the whole time."

I actually like the idea of a Reva character. A youngling that remembers Anakin's slaughter at the Jedi temple, does unthinkable things to seek out revenge.
I think I'd have had her be a more straightforward good guy though. She's doing bad things for the empire, but we see her secretly searching for a weakness in Vader. We see that the reason Vader keeps her close is because of how good of a hunter/tracker she is. She has the patience to seek out the small clues that Anakin never did.
She finds a lead on Obi Wan, seeks him out, creates some ruse to draw him out or whatever, but then meets with him one-on-one in secret, and then that meeting is interrupted by Vader and that's when she realizes that Vader knew what she was doing the whole time and intended her to bring him to Obi Wan.

The frustrating thing to me about Reva is that a former youngling who survived Order 66 and was recruited to become an Inquisitor is a really interesting character idea (IMO). There should be a ton of great material there to develop a solid character and they just completely botched it.
Reminds me of how I felt about Finn: I loved the idea of a former Stormtrooper who turned good and they botched that character too.

If they're going to keep making shows in the Skywalker timeline, that's definitely the best mine for ideas. People who consider themselves good guys, but for whatever reason have had to do bad things to survive or whatever.
That's why I'm somewhat optimistic for Andor. This show has the potential to show characters flirting with that "too far" line on both sides. What are you willing to do to keep you cover with the empire, what are you willing to do in the name of the rebellion?
