I am honestly still trying to process the fact that they actually attempted to walk Leia out under the trench coat being worn by a bearded, disheveled, Kenobi, across a very crowded landing deck.

Obligatory

First time we see "Leia" she's using a decoy. Just like her mama.
I'm just now watching but that was surely Winter from the Zahn novels, right"?

I guess I thought I dreamt that, because it was otherwise so lazy and insane that I blocked it out, since surely it wasn't something they actually filmed. But nope, you just confirmed that we saw the same thing, and that it did indeed happened. Holy hell.

would've loved it if obiwan put on the stormtrooper uniform of the guy he killed to tie in a new hope in a creative way (and he's worn clone trooper disguises before IIRC)....and would've made the escape scene at the end a little less silly as they could've made leia look like she was being transported as opposed to being tucked under a big coat....

Seriously. Jedi/Rebels sneaking around in stormtrooper outfits is classic Star Wars. Sneaking someone somewhere under a big trenchcoat/robe is classic Little Rascals.

Rewatched E4, I can't get over how bad it looks. Ignoring the story, acting, or just how rushed the episode felt - why does the look of it seem so off?

Oh well, there will be no recovery at this point. Kenobi wasted. Vader wasted.

It is past time for Kathleen Kennedy to retire. The failure rate has been far too high. How the heck is she still surviving, professionally?

$$$, I suppose. Disney board isn't following racist, bigoted fans on the internet... that's what all the detractors are.

The Force Awakens $2.069 billion at the box office (3rd all time)
The Last Jedi $1.332 billion at the box office (15th all time)
The Rise of Skywalker $1.074 billion at the box office (34th all time)
Rogue One: $1.056 billion at the box office (39th all time)

Disney Plus shows ranked in terms of total viewing minutes

1. Mando Season 2: 8.38 billion minutes
2. Mando Season 1: 5.42 billion minutes
3. Loki: 5.23 billion minutes
4. Wandavision: 4.8 billion minutes
5. Book of Boba Fett 4.4 billion minutes
6. Falcon and the Winter Soldier: 4.15 billion minutes
7. Hawkeye: 3.46 billion minutes.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's first 2 episodes are the largest original series premiere ever for Disney+ and only the second non-movie release on the platform to get more than 1 billion viewing minutes in a weekend (Loki was the other).

Head to head, the first episode of Obi-Wan had 6.2 million viewers, more than the first episode of Stranger Things (6.0 million) on the first day of release. Stranger things has surpassed Obi-Wan since, comparing the first episode of both shows, but at the end o the first weekend, it was still pretty close - 12.7 million for ST and 11.1 million for Obi-Wan. Given Stranger Things has 3 previous seasons of fan base and it has been a hot minute since it was last on TV, that's pretty stiff competition from Obi-Wan.

If you did a highlight reel of the greatest parts of SW over the past decade, I imagine most people would feel pretty joyful at the end of it. Han, Leia, Luke & Lando back on the big screen, Mando, Grogu, post-ROTJ Luke digitally recreated, live action versions of Bo Katan and Ahsoka Tano and Cad Bane. Vader at the end of Rogue One, and so on and so forth, lots of fans would say damn, that's a pretty good decade.

So while there is certainly a loud online voice of dislike, disdain, and some out and out hatred of KK, Disney, and the direction SW has taken in the past 10 years, the numbers certainly say otherwise. And the numbers come from people embracing those properties and spending their time and money on them.

Interesting to note the drop off from Episode 7 to 8 to 9. Nice trend there.

It's depressing to see Rogue One below those three garbage films, too. Makes me lose even more faith in humanity that complete trash can make more money than an enjoyable film like Rogue One.

Look at the tent pole movies. See how the revenue got worse each consecutive movie? Theaters didn't start charging less for tickets, and that's not just bc some fans got angry on Twitter. The general movie audience did not like the movies.

Compare to Avengers. Infinity War and Endgame both went up bc audiences cared how it ended.

You should actually be impressed that a Star Wars spinoff movie with no recognizable main characters can be a $1B hit.

By that logic, people didn't like The Empire Strikes back.

tbf, there were a number of people that didn't like TESB simply because of the ending.

The question is, what was the expected ROI on the property? If they are meeting that figure, the board will be happy.

I don't think those stats really help it out much. Everything is inflated because of the Star Wars name attached to it all. People can objectively think it's subpar, but still show up because it's Star Wars and who knows, maybe they'll get lucky and stumble on a movie the caliber of Rogue One or Solo (both WAY better than any of the ST. TFA was good on its own, but of course fell off after the other 2 movies were released).

These properties would have made that much money with ME running the show. It's not about KK.

While he does do this a lot, to play devil's advocate, I think people tend to get a bit hyperbolic with Star Wars being a colossal failure since the Disney acquisition, when there's been plenty of both financial and critical success to offset the stumbles.

And now with Obi-Wan being a mixed bag among the fans, we've got Andor coming up and that might be just the thing Star Wars tv needs.

You could take a highlight reel of the Coach Fran era & it might look pretty good. The only problem is the stuff that wasn't on there was mediocre to outright cringe.
Boba Fett is the Stephen McGee of Star Wars. Beloved coming in, misused & miscast into a role he never should have been in.

Well to be brutally honest then, if you think it's not very good, but you're still paying to watch it, your Walt Disney's favorite kind of sucker, because you're still handing over your money. You're the same as the parents who ***** about the price of food and the new Lightning Lane at the theme parks, but you're still there every spring break.

Buying tickets for the movie and subscribing to Disney+ month after month, and then complaining about the product isn't going to make them try to appease you and make it better because, as Pitch Meeting guy likes to say "well, MONEY".

If you think it's **** work, stop paying for it, that big machine isn't going to stop until the $$$ drop far enough to make it stop.

I'm not taking anything personal unless it's directed at me, I'm just trying to help some people here understand that she's not going to get fired for putting out billion dollar properties over and over.

Plus, let's call it what it is, having a woman leading a huge studio is good for Disney's not always so great image.

Why don't you calm down there, you don't know me, so maybe don't tell me what kind of parent I am. As long as I have Disney+ for other stuff, might as well tune in to this show.

FWIW I never tuned into any of the other Star Wars live action series (Mando, Fett) because I think at the core I just wasn't as interested in them and wanted to wait and see how they were received. I'd warrant that there are a lot of fans out there like me who Obi Wan is their first live action Star Wars series to watch, and I bet most of them are pretty let down so far.

Dude, I didn't even know you are a parent. I'm saying if you are paying money for the movies and Disney plus you are SIMILAR to parents who complain about the theme parks but still spend money on them.

It was a comparison.

that is stunning. r1 was the most brilliant movie prequel maybe ever made, and an enjoyable movie across the board. maybe it was just too dark for kids, i dont know.

but the other movies are such incredible, shocking garbage. my god.
