We already DID crowd source a better story, TCTTS just didn't edit it into a coherent script to sell.

Ha, tried to summarize in my previous post what we came up with as best I could remember.

It still wouldn't have been great, but it would have been much better even if it was just different inquisitors.

The one obsessed with Obi Wan that has a kidnapping plot going on halfway across the galaxy ends up 20 feet from him with a lightsaber to the throat of one of the like three people in the galaxy that knows where Obi Wan is and she doesn't realize it and it ultimately doesn't matter.
Here's my question. If we know she can do a mental probe and just take whatever she wants to know, why not just do it to Owen there?

While no one has said this, I'm guessing that not everybody can be mind probed. I mean we know Hutts and Toydarians cannot be mind tricked, maybe there are people that can resist (cough *Rey* cough).

I wonder if the original script wasn't killed because of the fear that people were tired of seeing Tatooine. (Which to be fair, is valid.)

I would have gladly sacrificed Boba Fett for that original Obi-Wan script, if so.

I definitely don't think it can be done to force users, but to random peasants on Tatooine?

If anybody's mind could be read, the Inquisitors would just round everybody up and mind probe them.

What's weird is that the big Vanity Fair piece form a few weeks ago said that the reason the old script or scripts were killed was because they too much resembled the lone wolf/cub vibe of The Mandalorian, and Disney didn't want another series about an older character having to look after/deliver a younger character. Yet, through three episodes now, that's EXACTLY what this series is. So, yeah, I'm so confused, on multiple fronts.

Maybe Ben tells Owen ways to subtly block something like that when he first explains who Luke is and who might come looking for him.

Or if Owen can just think of Obi-Wan as "Ben the local weirdo", then he can honestly say to them he doesn't know anything about a Jedi because Ben isn't a Jedi. That was Obi-Wan.

Owen also didn't lie when he said Jedi were Vermin and he exterminated vermin on his farm. And she probably read that, and thought he wouldn't know, and then proceeded to killing him and getting others to tell.

I just feel like episode 3 is objectively bad, and it's blowing my mind that people actually disagree. But, I guess there are plenty of people who like terrible movies and shows, seeing how much of that crap exists...

I'm not sure an opinion can be objective, but I do agree that it was pretty terrible. It's definitely the worst single piece of SW content I've seen, but that may just be because I've never seen the holiday special.

This show is bad, but how are you guys forgetting what we JUST watched a few short months ago? The Book of Boba Fett is undoubtedly worse than this. Granted, this is certainly more of a disappointment, due to sky-high expectations, but as bad as it's been so far, it's no BOBF.

BOBF wasn't good, but I didn't hate it. I hated this.

All this is to say, Andor might be my last hope with this stuff. It's the only thing that actually looks like it's made for adults (or at least not for 8-year-olds), feels like they're shooting in actual, real-world locations, and the Tony Gilroy of it all is already a proven winner. But man, if that fails, I'm really going to be on the fence. Because, as of late, between BOBF, Moon Knight, this, and that terrible She-Hulk trailer, I'm really starting to question whether Disney+ is even for me anymore.

This, like Boba Fett, and the Mandalorian before it is just thin, thin gruel.

Look how packed with rich characters things like, say, Justified is. This is, and maybe always has been, comic book stuff. It's for kids.

Just to spite some of y'all, Obi gonna defeat Vader and retire back to Tatooine where he'll open up a sick Vespa shop.

I agree to an extent. But as a parent of teenage boys I can tell you that "new" Star Wars in general is really not moving the needle for them and it's pretty much always been that way since TFA when they were nowhere close to teens yet. I think if Disney was being honest they'd admit they're targeting their hype train at Gen X and Gen Y males and hoping they can get their kids to come along too.

So I think most of Gen X and Y's were expecting a cool series centered around an older Kenobi keeping an eye on young Luke, on a planet we all know is dangerous and unforgiving, anything could happen and maybe we get to see Vader show up (ala Rogue One). Instead it's all revolved around a defeated Kenobi chasing a sassy 10 year old princess around. It's a let down.

And I would have to wonder how many young people have actually been organically drawn in to new Star Wars since 2015? My observations tell me it's more of the parents taking them to the theme parks, movies, D+, and buying the merch because the parents want to. I honestly think Disney is relying on the parents to bring the kids in as opposed to the quality of their product.

I'm not sure Disney + could fully kill Star Wars, but damned if it doesn't feel like they're trying as hard as they can to do so. These Star Wars shows are a joke. Even The Mandolorian, which is the best of the group, was really a bunch of D- writing interspersed with a few cool moments.

I know TCTTS mentions Andor as their last possible attempt at producing a well-written and acted adult show, but I'm not even excited about that. For me, the Ahsoka show is the last hope. My son and I loved Rebels. That's our last chance to hopefully see a decent show with characters we give a damn about. If they screw that show up, then Star Wars will really be a thing of the past for us.

I know Disney+ is a huge investment for them so they're very focused on it, but it has definitely seemed to led to some very average stuff getting released. I'd much rather they pour their money into making more SW anthology films

Wow, didn't know so many didn't like this. Feel like the TV shows have been the only true redeeming selections outside of Rogue One which was great. Wasn't a fan of the new trilogy and feel the prequels were not really well done. But the TV shows have been great in my mind. BoBF was strangely put together but some of the shows by themselves were very good Star Wars stories. JMO

Like they did with movies 7 - 9? This is the best we're getting from them. I've enjoyed the show well enough and don't really agree with some of the takes free, but Disney is going to play it safe with this money maker.

As disappointed as I've been with this show, I still can't get over the Le Petomane Toll Booth checkpoint... A universe with lightspeed space travel. Can't go around a laser gate...

I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but outside of the D- writing for these shows, the weird structure that Favreau & co established from the jump - one that isn't suited for weekly, episodic TV - is what unfortunately set the tone and I'm afraid set all this stuff down such a bad path.

Think about your favorite TV series over the years and I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of them follow MULTIPLE characters/storylines, that center around the same, broad, overarching plot, and constantly cut between those characters/storylines to tell the bigger picture. This is TV 101 type stuff, that everything from run-of-the-mill broadcast/network fare to Better Call Saul and Succession adheres to. Because it's more propulsive, because it offers more variety, because it's necessary to be able to leave scenes on certain beats, cut to something else for a bit, and then come back. In other words, because it works.

Yet, for the most part, Mando, BOBF, and now Kenobi each basically follow ONE primary character/storyline, with ONE goal, and we hardly ever cut away from that character/goal to something else going on. Yes, once in a blue moon we'll check in on the villains for a quick scene or two, but that's about it. Otherwise, it all just feels so claustrophobic, and so maddening.

All of this is a long way of saying that's one of the reasons I'm excited for Andor. I watch that trailer and I see MULTIPLE storylines and MULTIPLE characters of interest that we'll constantly be cutting back and forth from, all weaving together to tell a larger story. As TV should be.

That, and no one creatively, from the previous three series, is involved with Andor (even Kenobi director Deborah Chow worked on a few Mando episodes). We'll see how Ahsoka shakes out, but considering it was born out of the first two SW series (in terms of live action, anyway), I'm afraid it's just going to be more of the same - one central character, one goal, never cutting to anything else - but I would absolutely love to be proven wrong.

Question - will we see the Emperor in this series?

I put the odds of seeing characters we know are around but haven't seen yet in roughly this order:

Qui Gon's ghost - 100%
Yoda - 65%
Palpatine - 35%
Ahsoka - 10%
Kanan Jarrus - 5%

Cad Bane and Black Krrsantan ?

I'm entertained and look forward to each episode.

I agree that I would do things different from a story-telling standpoint and am let down in a sense of "what could have been"….. but I never had the expectations that some of you apparently did. This is right in line with The Mandalorian and BOBF.
