I assume many people who want her to die are talking about her character, not the actress. Given this is the internet, I know the other exists too though.

Nah. Those people were already terrible. The Internet just made it easier for them to spread their hate.

Saw the number of posts and knew it was gonna be 5 pages of **** show to read through. She has receipts of some vile **** thrown at here.

Disney is not calling you racist for thinking she isn't a good actress or something about the character. They are calling out that vile *****

The thing is, I'm sure the bigots convinced themselves Ewan would somehow agree with them. Delusion and hate go so hand in hand.

Seeing very few anti-Moses Twitter posts and those that exist are getting ratioed to hell. Love to see it.

I watched the first episode and this just feels like such a cheesy B-movie. Grown adults can't catch a 6 year old running away from them? I'm sure I'm nitpicking but, I just kept rolling my eyes over and over.

Y'all are getting worked up about 3 thugs who can't catch an 8 year old? You realize the people in charge of the galaxy have an army that can't hit the broad side of a barn with a blaster, right?

Without question, a top five scene in the Star Wars Canon.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but that was bad. Like, really bad.

After a busy holiday weekend, and all the negative reactions, I only just got now around to watching the first episode, and it was somehow even worse than I was expecting.

I mean, it really does look like something that belongs on the SyFy channel. In terms of the cinematography, I still can't believe how bland and dull and TV-ish it all appears. Why all the hand-held, shaky cam crap? Since when has Star Wars ever done that? And why are they seemingly going out of their way to make everything look like a set? Also, why in the hell is Tatooine gray? This should be one of the most cinematic projects Star Wars has ever done - Obi-Wan as Lawrence of Arabia, with rich, golden sand, sprawling, heat-hazed vistas, etc - but instead, this thing just *screams* sound stage in Manhattan Beach, and then they decided to desaturate everything, to really bring out the digital quality of the picture, just to make sure we got the point.

Then of course there's the acting. I love Benny Safdie, but that dude does not belong in something like this - certainly not as a Jedi - and despite being good/entertaining elsewhere, he just straight up can't act in this world. Ooof. Then, yeah, despite everything that's gone down today, I hate to say it, but Moses Ingram is horribly miscast as well. Her version of Reva is just baaad, to the point of almost being cringeworthy. Like, when a semi-famous athlete is cast in an action a movie, and against everyone's better judgment, is given way more to do than otherwise should have been allowed.

Man.

I just can't believe THAT was the pilot for something we've been anticipating for so long; something that should have been a home run and handled with so much more care and reverence. Instead, what we got was a TV director doing her best SyFy impression, with one of the best actors/characters of the entire franchise somehow surrounded by a godawful supporting cast, and hardly anything compelling happening narratively.

That didn't even feel like Star Wars. At best, it came across as something Star Wars-adjascent, and just the slightest bit of an uptick from the prequels. How we're all the way back there again, after 17 years, is beyond me.

I'm sure there are kick-ass moments yet to come, and I'll no doubt be wowed by them in the moment, but good gosh, that was depressing as hell.

Seriously. And it's not like Disney/Lucasfilm doesn't have the money to shoot on location. Even Moon Knight shot in the Jordan desert (as did Episode IX, of course). I just can't comprehend the overall bargain basement vibe here. Of all projects.

There needs to be a serious study into Rogue One and why that movie was such a step above everything else since 1983. (Or maybe even 1980 for that matter!)

Was wondering when you would be in here with your thoughts. I have been okay with the show so far, but definitely closer to average than great. FWIW, this is my first live action SW show to watch.

If YOU arent a racist, or doing those things, no one is calling YOU a racist.

Really, how about if you dont like a character, dont ****ing send the actor hate messages in general. thats not a hard concept either.

He's not wrong about the overarching problem Disney has with its writing, but get a grip

If I'm being completely honest, from the very first trailer, I had a sinking feeling. Most of what I'm seeing now, in terms of the visuals, I noticed immediately back in March, but held out hope it was somehow just a trailer thing, would look better in context, etc. But if you go back, you'll hardly see me commenting on either trailer. The use of Duel of the Fates was awesome, of course, but that was about it. So my expectations were tempered in that regard for sure.

That said, I still expected the story to be great, seeing as they've had years and years and drafts and drafts to perfect it. And, bird's eye view of what I've seen so far, I like the overall broad strokes of the narrative. It's all very logical and natural in terms of setting this particular story in motion. I just feel like the specifics so far have been executed so terribly and so blandly. IMO, this is *the* most sleepy/mundane version of a good intro they could have told.

So let's all be fair here.

I agree with TCCTS completely in regards to the Reva character. I have nothing against this woman. I had no idea who she was until the last week. But the character was cringy. And when I say cringy I don't mean terrible. More like Anakin/Padme cringy. There is nothing wrong with pointing that out. What is wrong is beta losers who troll social media making it personal or even racist.

But here is my point. Many of you on this board made these same accusations at me and others when we didn't pop champagne corks for Black Panther. And we didn't even make anything remotely personal and absolutely not racist. The film just couldn't keep my interest. And as I noted, I felt the same about several MCU films including Thor 1 and 2 (and Hemsworth is about as close to "my peeps" as you can be), Dr Strange, Hulk, Captain Marvel, and both Iron Man 2 and 3 (and RDJ's "Stark" literally became my favorite franchise character of all time), I just didn't care for those films.

I loved the Tony Stark character 10x more in the Avengers films, Civil War, and Spiderman. Likewise, Black Panther and the whole Wakanda thing was cool AF in Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame.

So I just wish everyone would tap the breaks and chill before making wild ass assumptions. Not being a big fan of Black Panther didn't mean you're an F16 pissed off white guy that can't stand the notion of an African centric MCU film. Likewise, not being impressed with the Reva character.

I'm all for taking out the trash. But too many of you on this board have been teed up to make bull**** accusations and implications towards posters who were critical of the performance of a person of color or a film they were featured in.

Sad really. I am in the generation that made Eddie Murphy, Halle Berry, Will Smith, Denzel, Martin Lawrence, Arsenio, on and on, the very wealthy stars they became. All we cared about was the product and it was good.

I really miss the 80's and 90's. We were on such a better trajectory.

The irony of acknowledging the racist bots on Twitter is that it will cause Disney to double down on a poor casting with Reva. Again, everyone should simply ignore that noise.

And it will also give them some level of cover for what so far is an average show that should never have been remotely this rocky considering the acting chops and material they had to play with here.

Everythign depends on what is said, and how it is said, when it comes to criticims. I thought Jordan's character in Black Panther sucked, and I like him in most things he is in. Maybe he would have been better if they split it into 2 movies and let his character actually develop.

This show, I think just about everything that is specific to Obi-Wan (ie working his job, being world weary, his talks with Owen) were all great. We shall see where it goes from here, but I was not expecting to the series to be great so I dont feel disappointed that much.

It was *all* bad, IMO. I thought that went without saying. Though, during that chase is definitely when it solidified itself as a SyFy series. Actually, I remember randomly catching some terrible Anne Hathway movie on TV years ago, called, Ella Enchanted, and I couldn't look away because of how stupid it was, and for whatever reason, that chase sequence reminded me of that terrible movie more than anything.

No doubt. I'm not saying it's not true. Certain people have absolutely crossed the line and accused others here of racism, for not like something "black" in entertainment (be it a movie, actor, etc), when it's obvious the accused isn't being racists.

That said, there are those of us who have seen multiple racists comments and innuendos posted at F16, like, say, calling Michelle Obama a monkey (something I've seen more than once), so when someone who frequents F16 posts here, and uses all the go-to anti-lib/anti-woke/anti-BLM language/etc language, and it's someone who's also ragging hard on a black actor or whatever, it's *sometimes* hard not to make assumptions. Personally, I do my best to never go there. And by no means am I saying libs, woke-ness, or the more militant aspects of BLM shouldn't be ragged on.

I'm just saying, in this day and age, when you throw a bunch of super-hard-right folks together with some entertainment-loving people who might have, like, half a pinky toe dipped in the liberal pool, the accusations are going to fly on both sides.

Case in point, the amount of times I've been called a marxist, pedophile, or evil by certain F16ers, for simply not liking Donald Trump as a human being, even though I'm almost assuredly voting Republican next election, is just as ridiculous. It goes both ways.
