Did George RR Martin have sisters? I hope they were locking the door when they took a shower

Not gonna read the thread to avoid spoilers if I decide to watch.

Reply to me directly.

The last season of GoT really left me in distaste of the whole thing. Is this worth watching and can it redeem the universe?

I thought that final fight was stupid. Focused solely on a spectacle without any real meaning behind it.

Is this based on a book? Is this what happened in the book?

I'm to believe this guy has been fighting off both of these forces for years, and then was goaded into sending his entire army out to kill one guy? Not only that, but this army trickles out first, one by one, then finally all comes out and just slowly walks towards Daemon?

If that was written by George RR Martin, then it was poorly written. Based on the battles we saw in GoT that were actually adapted from his writings, I'm thinking it wasn't.

If I am not mistaken, the book(s) this series is based off of is more of a history book. So the maesters wrote it down long after the fact after hearing the story 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand.

So the broad strokes of the history is known, but the macro level of things are being told through the TV show.

The last battle was cool, but as others have said it didn't make any sense. Captain Crab Legs was harassing trading ships in the Stepstones, which is why the Sea Snake and Daemon went to war with him. With Caraxes and Sea Smoke as air support, they should have been able to destroy the enemy fleet in a few hours.

They make a big deal about them all scuttling back into a cave when the dragon comes near, but who cares? It's only with ships that those guys are a threat. It's like trying to capture the Florida Keys, but you don't have a navy. There's not much damage you're doing on the Stepstones without a fleet. The only thing that would make sense would be if they had some sort of underground grotto system where all the ships could be in the cave, like in The Goonies or Moana. But if it's just individual soldiers who don't even seem like very good fighters based on that last battle, who cares if they are there? They're harmless inside of a cave.

Also was the King Crab actually Emil from Robocop after he falls into the toxic waste?

The director interview at the end makes it seem as though Daemon was so shamed at having to accept Viserys' help that he would rather die in a blaze of glory than win the war with Viserys' troops.

I agree they went for spectacle over realism, but… w/e it was badass lol

They definitely did a good job convincing your that Daemon was so pissed off he would go it alone. When my wife said "Who's going to swoop in and save him?'" my first guess was Grogu.

Loved the guy at the beginning saying "Save me, my prince!" SPLAT

Also, the CGI hart, bleahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, animals don't run like that.

The episode was great. Everyone trying to dissect the minutia is going to be unhappy, don't let them make you unhappy. Daemon said **** it, if big brother is sending the Calvary I'm gonna end this before they arrive to save me. Was the writing perfect? No. But it wasn't seasons 6-8 bad either. I liked it, and not gonna let a bunch of dorks change my perspective!

It was a little bit of movie spectacle after a solid 50 minutes of excellently written politicking, character moments, and dialogue. I can live with that

I can grasp sub text, and understand what they were doing.

My problem is the response from the enemy group. I mean... it would look badass if he leapt 100ft into the air and landed in a ball of fire and lightning, that sent shockwaves across the ground and burned everyone alive... but it would not make any sense.

First, it was the ridiculous violence of the tournament, and now it's this. The showrunners are just trying to give us visuals for the sake of visuals. That's my problem with it. I'm not going to sit on my couch and cheer simply because there is action on the screen. Ground that action in the world and story. Make it seem believable.

To give an example, Rhaenyra showing up to the meeting with her uncle on her dragon was a great spectacle, and made complete sense from the story and character development we had been given to that point.

I actually like the violence at the tournament because it feels like everyone's itching for a fight. LIke Viserys doesn't grasp that all the other houses aren't happy where they are and are constantly jockeying for position. When there aren't any skirmishes or battles to go to, they have to beat the **** out each ohter in a tournament to work out their frustrations.

Both the last two episodes said "brief nudity" and I think it was in the art. This one was a little more graphic.

Last episode was the most PG episode I've ever seen. Just one F.

Yeah, when I saw Daemon dragging the Crab King's ripped apart torso with his entrails hanging out, I yelled, "Kids! Get down here and see this!"
