It's really not that bad. I had mine done just over a year ago, and the 3 things that sucked were:
1. The doctor required me to have someone there to drive me home, and since my wife wasn't able to take off work to be there, I had to ask my mom. She made sure to get in lots of little jokes while we were in the waiting room and showed me a side of her I never wanted to know existed.
2. I thought I prepped the area pretty good. Nope. Had some hot nurse shaving my scrote and taint area down to near my knot. The thoughts I had to think to not go full tilt will forever haunt me.
3. The most awkward thing I've ever done in my life, and I'm 100% certain it will ever be topped, is going to the fertility clinic later to make sure the doc wasn't incompetent. Show up to some little 18 year old spinner who's probably taking classes at the local CC sitting at the front desk to greet me. She asks me if I'll be dropping off the sample or taking care of it there. I tell her I'll be doing it there (didn't know I could drop it off), so she gets some nurse who plays a supermodel on her off days to come get me and take me back...passing the nursing station filled with her fellow Tri Delts. We arrive at a room with a 40" TV, a sink, and a leather recliner with one of those medical pads on it with a cup on top of that. The nurse tells me what each is for (like I didn't know) and then begins to show me how to work the porn machine. Being the good nurse she is, she even showed me some of her favorites. She tells me what to do after and where the exit door immediately to the stairwell is so I can make a quick escape, then she leaves. While she's doing this, you'll be contemplating in your head how much time to take care of this is acceptable...too fast and you'll be labeled a "minuteman" by one of the nurses you'll undoubtedly have a mutual friend with and run into at a party, and too long and they'll think you're some kind of pervert watching all of the porn.
