****SPOILER MAYBE****

When you do the dark brotherhood quest line you have the option to pimp out the new sanctuary with a torture chamber. Do this, go to it, and use the destruction spell of your choice and healing hands on the prisoners to level up resto and destruction.

Ok, this game is awesome. I kinda suck at it though. Any tips for a few easy levels near the beginning of the game? I'm about 7 hours in.

Lots and lots of side quests...I'm almost level 40 and have yet to progress past meeting the dude at the inn in Solitude for the main quest-line.

Does the game seem to get way to easy for any of you at a certain point? I'm a dual wielding nord, and there isn't anything that really ever gives me trouble anymore; they're usually dead in a few swings.

I am a stealthy archer, and I usually kill things before they see me.

The exception are liches and dragons. Everything else dies pretty quickly.

I really didn't like how Oblivion was always tough, all the time, but I'm not really keen on how everything in skyrim is now a one-shot kill either.

Then again, my elf ranger has 100 archery, 100 blacksmithing, and a nasty ebony bow, too, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

If it gets too easy then do not use any magic items, wear the worst armor, and use the worst weapons. In addition, do not sneak or use magic in combat (except maybe restoration spells).

Just because all the "cool" stuff is available through enchanting and leveling does not mean you have to use it.

I'm a pure mage, individuals are easy.

groups are hard.

I need to find the storm atronoch recipie.

also need to consciously level up conjuration/destruction to 100. I need some of those perks.

Also, Dual casting wall of flames/frost/storms on every inch of floor in a dungeon=AWESOME!

Got the game for Christmas and popped it in for the first time this morning at 10am. 13 hours later, I am headed to bed with bloodshot eyes....

I have exclusively played sports games all my life (Madden. NCAA, etc). I didn't think I'd spend 10 minutes on this, but damn....

But I do have to admit I have no idea where I am at, I fight like a girl, and things just seem to randomly happen.

One very random question I have is, what is "smithing"? I mean, I know it's when you sit at a blacksmiths bench and make stuff, but how do you "do" it? I have a bunch of swords, axes, and tomatoes. What would I do at a blacksmith shop??

smithing takes many forms

In mines, you can use a pick-axe to mine raw materials and then go to a smelter and turn them into ingots of various material.

At the forge, you can turn those ingots plus whatever bits of leather and what not and turn them into armor and weapons.

Then at grindstones and work benches, you can use additional ingots to improve your weapons and armor respectively.

You can also forge jewelry and such at smelters with the addition of fancy gems.

Got it for Christmas as well. Have played 4 or 5 hours. Found out the hard way that the typical rpg game strategy of taking everything you find laying around (I thought the things that did not turn red could be taken without issue) will turn the entire town against you (first little village you run into Riverward.) Walked out of the store into a group of three hired thugs much tougher than me. After a half a dozen tires I got the smith to help fight them and won, then for some reason the smith turned on me, now everyone hates me.

Might have to back up a few saves to where I finished the quest. Picking up a dozen trinkets was not worth that bad rep.

Fun game. Been doing mainly dagger/fire sneaking with a bow for long range. Seems to work pretty well. Little tough against groups since he is a paper tank...

I remember playing the first Morrowind and picking up EVERYTHING. Silverware, food, useless crap I would never need. Haha.

I've been keeping up with this thread since it started but I have an announcement. I've yet to play it

I've been sucked into SWTOR sadly. Is there a big difference in the ps3 and Xbox version? I may pick it up just to see what all the hypes about.

The DB quest involving the wedding + raise zombie + mass frenzy might have been the most wickedly enjoyable moment in any RPG ever.

I do have a few nits to pick with the game, beyond the bugs/glitches.

I seriously miss acrobatics when playing my Khakiit thief. I also think they needed a perk in the enchantment tree which let you overwrite an existing enchantment. The Nightingale armor set is one of my favorites in the game, but eventually the enchanments become too weak. Same goes for the Jester set.

Also wish I could hold a shield in my right hand.

Working nicely on my laptop. No complaints really on controls.

Quesrion: does race choice really make much difference? Went vanilla, want to decide before getting in too far.

If your PC can handle it I would get the PC version. There are literally thousands of mods for pretty much anything you can imagine.

I run a few that clean up the textures of the environment, cities, player models, and everything looks much better.

race choice doesn't matter as much...people will react to you differently based on it and the racial bonuses are still important, but nothing will be 'locked' because you chose the wrong race.

I've read the PS3 version is having a LOT of problems, so I would recommend the Xbox version if it's between those two.

I'm on PS3 and haven't had any problems. I think this was discussed a few pages back.

Taking a Skyrim break. Redguard level 27, getting board with the way I play, possibly going to level up archery now that my single hand weapons are so powerful.

Has anyone settled down and gotten married in skyrim? I can't decide if I want to marry or kill the lady that follows you around after you kill the first dragon near whiterun.

My nephew did it on his game and told me the wife makes $100 a day and when he stops by the house he collects for all the days he's been gone. They also allow gay marriage too for you PC players.

Had the same problem. Go out on the ledge in the back and get as high up as you can.

So I've refused to download any of the patches so far on my 360... the game has run pretty well since launch and I've heard issues with some of the 1st patches.

So my question: Is it OK to download the patches now or are they still causing more harm than good???

Love this game BTW!!! I'm only in the high 20's level wise but I've played 40 hours. I love taking my time with things. For example, I sometimes prefer to ride from point A to point B instead of fast traveling... it just seems that much more epic that way!!!
bendover
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I try not to fast travel. I will ride the carriages, though.

****slight spoiler****
I seem to have discovered a bug, when I turn to a werewolf near my companion the companion comes up missing. And by missing I mean they are gone and don't come back with waiting or fast travel, and other companions are able to join my party.

I'm on PS3, and I'm having a problem. I'm a Stormcloak, and I'm doing the Jagged Crown quest. I'm supposed to go talk to Galmar Stone-Fist at Korvanjund, but whenever I approach him, he attacks me. I can't kill him, because he's a quest character. Any help is appreciated.
