Just got the game for Christmas. Loving it. I have read all 31 pages. Good info Ags.

Only real question is what you think are the best perk trees to max for a fighter/thief (ranger i guess) type. To me Sneak and Archery, and Lockpick seem obvious. One hand though seems kinda wimpy for the way I play. Also Pickpocket doesnt seem that appealing other than the 100 bonus to carry.

I keep forgetting to go through and delete my old saves. I think I'm up to 178ish?

I'm quickly losing track of all of the various "factions" in this land.

It was made obvious early on that there is the typical big empire (the "Imperials" and then the rebels (the "Stormcloaks". However, can anyone provide a quick description of each of the following groups that pop up during the game - and most importantly, where each of these groups stands in terms of their own loyalty (Imperials or Stormcloaks?):

- Blades

- Falsworn (or 'Forsworn'?)

- Companions

Seems like there was a couple more, but now that I've started this post, I'm drawing a blank. Feel free to add.

well i'm starting to reach the "overpowered" point with my character. dragons are a joke for the most part now, and boss+minions fights WOULD be tough if i didn't have archery up so high and could pick most of the guys off before they even see me.

i'm still dying occasionally, but i'm needing to be a lot less cautious. still having a blast though! it's fun to see how low you can get an enemy's health while staying sneaked

Have you adjusted your difficulty setting as high as it will go?

Oh I've never even touched that. I might do that then

Xbox version having glitches now. Two quests I can't complete and it has frozen several times.

Four quests I can't complete due to glitches. Level 53. Difficulty on master, still easy. I'll be finding something else to do now, at least until DLC.

Can't remember the last game I spent 130+ hours on though so I'm extremely happy with the game.

Nobody liked the house in Windhelm?

My major annoyance with 360 version is that none of the weapon plaques (or very few of them) work in any house Ive purchased.

Do you have the weapon equipped when you activate the plaque?

Windhelm house WOULD be cool if any of the weapon plaques worked.

i haven't even been there yet. 50 hours in and i haven't visited Windhelm OR Winterhold. i'm too much of a completionist with other cities

This is me! My son finally got so frustrated watching me play that he got his own copy for his PS3. He hated my style of pouring over EVERY nook and cranny and taking on almost every side quest that pops up.

He, on the other hand, is all about "run and smash and lie and steal and don't offer any assistance to anyone".

Yesterday he was bragging about how he finished the main quest and only had a "couple" of side quests to do before the game would be "over".

Without saying a word, I turned my game on and showed him the list of literally DOZENS of quests that I have on hold right now that I haven't even gotten to, or are only partiallly finished. He was blown away and asked where all those came from. I told him "next time, take the time to stop and talk to the people you pass on the road, or go down that extra tunnel over to the left of the one you're 'supposed' to go down, etc".

He was also blown away by my gold total, even though it's only $10K (piddly compared to some of you). He had no idea that he could SLOW DOWN and craft weapons, armor, etc and sell them.

Too funny - just different styles of play, neither one "right" or "wrong".

- Blades - Ancient organization that had it's origins in dragonslaying. Became the personal guard of the Emperor. Instrumental in the defense of the Empire against the Altemeri Dominion. As a part of the White-Gold Concordat, the Empire was forced to disband the Blades.

Forsworn - band of rebel causing problems for markarth, had loose ties to ulfric stormcloak for a short period of time.

Companions - Loose band of warriors that keep the peace. Located in Jorvaskarr (Spelling?) in Whiterun.

Any others?

When they work it gives you a message that you need to do that. Most weapon plaques in my game are simply wall decorations where nothing happens no matter what you do. They dont have an activate indicator at all when you put the pointer over them.

Thanks, Premid - you 'da man!

Whose side are the Companions on? Sounds like the Imperials' side.

Neither. They are staying out of it for now. Afaik - haven't quite finished their storyline yet.

They are more or less mercenaries for hire. The fighters guild without being a fighters guild.

So does working on the civil war missions between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks not relate to the main mission? Not that I've even worked on any of the main mission yet!

After 82 hours and an 11Mb save on Ps3 (and thus freezing issues)...all major quest lines completed...

Im putting it down.

So I was chasing some sort of goat or something up the side of a mountain while hunting. I send an arrow at it, the arrow arcs over a hill, and suddenly i see the life bar for a frost troll or giant or something. I guess I inadvertently hit it because it hauled ass over the hill and hammered me quickly. it was hilarious and a great WTF moment.

redeyeone - that is awesome.

I had a similar one - I was on a bluff of rocks shooting arrows at a giant. I was too high for him to climb up after me, so he turned and ran away and went around a corner of the bluffs. I turned 360-degrees and was waiting for him to come out into a pass on the other side but he never did.

So I turned back around, and using the little red dot on the compass, I walked along the bluff to the point where I should have been able to see him. But when I look down at the path, no giant - and I was looking right at where the red dot supposedly was. So I'm all confused until I scoot up right to the very edge of the cliff and look straight down at my toes - and there is Mr. Giant, directly underneath me and looking straight up at me from maybe 2 feet away!

Seeing that giant face instantly fill my screen actually made me shriek out loud like a little girl. But that was quickly replaced by the realization that I could just stand there and fire an arrow straight down into his forehead from point-blank range.

Definitely one of my most enjoyable kills!.......

I fast traveled to a random cave close to where I needed to go. I pop up and an elder dragon, a frost dragon, two sabre cats, and an ascendent vampire were waiting for me.

The dragons took down the sabre cats, the vampire took down the frost dragon, the elder dragon took down the vampire, and I hid, potshotting the elder dragon, laying down wall of shock/frost everywhere while shouting dragonrend at both dragons while my storm atronoch started wrecking shop on whoever came close.

MOST EPIC. MELEE. EVER.

That reminds me of a time in Fallout 3 where I wandered into a three-way battle between a super mutant, two giant radscorpions, and three raiders.

One radscorpion survived.

That chick actually looks like she'd be fun in the sack.

Bet she'd have no problem dressing up in bandit-girl garb either - the furry boots, loincloth, etc.

Ok, I've finally 'power leveled' a skill casting soul trap on corpses (I don't know why this works...)

I now have a permenant storm atronoch and can summon dremora lords.

I can kill things without doing anything.

Nice Predmid!

My most epic melee so far was two saber cats, an elder dragon, that badass necromancer dude that has that awesome mask and like three wolves. To my knowledge only the necro dude lived. I did not.

As far as Fallout 3 goes I go into a scuffle with a super behemoth, a Giant Radscorpion and three Brothers of steel. Only the Super Behemoth was left but I had no life. I actually managed to extricate myself somehow and was running at full speed in terror when I got potshotted by a bandit. I was so butthurt I had to rage quit for the day.

And lastly my favorite kill of all time was on Halo:combat evolved. With one sniper shot I killed 2 Elites, 2-3 Grunts, a Marine, and my coop partner. It was amazing. A huge scrum was going so I sidestepped and fired into the middle. One shot and like half the combatants fell. I was stoked. My partner was not. Pfff...My gamer saying? Casualties are always expected and acceptable.

question for you people with ultra smithed armor:

what is your armor rating?

With the mage armor perks and ebonyflesh, I'm up to 350 base.

Also: the twin souls perk with dremora lord, storm/flame/frost thralls is pretty badass. I don't even have to fight my own battles anymore.

Got the game yesterday. Managed to get to level 15 so far. Fire in my left hand and a fire axe in my right is my combo. Love it.

I was doing the college quest where you have to go find the books. As I rode up to the "stronghold' I hopped off my noble steed and snuck up the mountain to the side and launched an arrow a good distance away from the baddies. They ran around for about ten seconds and then my hidden status popped up. I shot another one to see what would happen and then after I became hidden again my sneak level went up. I had about 200 arrows so I did this for about half of them and my sneak level went up by about 15 and my level jumped by 2. I got bored with it after a good 45 minutes of it so I snuck down and destroyed them with my new sneaking skills.

Awesome game. Glad I played Arkham City before!

Ebony from head to toe (the appearance is a better fit for this chatacter). Total armor rating comes to 445ish if I'm equipping a spell or a bow. If I switch to axe and shield, armor rating goes to 528.
