There are a lot of fantastic mods, especially for skill trees. They make the game feel so much fresher.

I have been playing this consistently for the last couple of weeks.

After all these years I gotta say.....this is my favorite game of all time. It's truly incredible. I started all over and aside from about 6 QOL and UI mods....straight vanilla and I am discovering this game all over again. And just as my very first time, I just hit level 50 and still have not even considered going to see the Greybeards to advance the story. Just finished the Thieves Guild quest and starting the College of Winterhold one. About half of my time is just walking around and exploring though. So a lot more lackadaisical approach than quest grinding. I'm just vibing.

Playing as a sneaky backstabby archer again. It is what it is and what I enjoy the most. A lot more magic though this time around. One of the mods is the expanded magic one and it is a game changer for sure.

Loving it all over again. I just may finally be able to get to the DLCs and even beat the actual game! Maybe

Firing up another save file with Special Edition. I didnt get to play any of the expansions first time through.

Wondering if i can turn off blood and dismemberment and let my 8 year old start a game on his PC or not.

This is the game that needs an actual remake, or even a remaster. I'd drop $70 on it, no questions asked.

They came out with a special edition in 2016 with enhanced graphics and colors (9.99 on steam during the sale), all of the dlc, etc, so that's what I did. I did 1 playthrough back in 2011 when it came out and am having a blast playing it now since i don't really remember a lot of it.

There's also an anniversary edition that includes special edition and some more stuff, but I wasn't actually interested in the difference. It's only 10 bucks more than the special edition (on sale for winter sale)

I'm playing Skyrim for the first time. Haven't played an elder scrolls game since Morrowind. I usually get frustrated with RPG's like this because I always feel like the game could be more fun if I made different character choices, but I'm sticking with a Spellsword build from the link below.

Any advice?

For a first play through I would probably use an archer so I can keep some distance from mobs and don't get slaughtered every time I encounter something above my level. That said, offensive magic can serve that function as well.

There is tons of loot of varying quality and inventory management becomes a PITA so I would recommend loading some of the mods that increases your weight carrying limit or reduce mass of many items.

You can explore on your own and should but following the quests generally keep you progressing without getting too far out over your skis.

Stealth archer is my go-to for first time playthroughs of Elder Scrolls games.

Well....checking back on this thread and it's been 10 years since I've played this game. Good lord.

I just downloaded my SE copy of Skyrim that I guess I played on 360? and added the Anniversary edition to it. I'm now researching mods I want to add because I never played this on 4K or modded at all. I'm also going to play as Khajit stealth archer. I recall the first time I played I played as a Nord melee fighter...I think.

If anyone has a lead on the best QOL mods I'm all ears. I'm looking at this page right now: https://gamerant.com/skyrim-best-xbox-mods/

Would like a good magic holding bag type of mod and maybe a house that does all of my sorting and crafting for me?
