Vertical integration
The DQ situation was tough because his defense was shredded by the youngest team in the league to close the 2023 season. Jerry is a salesmen at heart and that is an incredibly tough sell to the fan base. "We fired Mike to promote DQ who gave up 40 points to Green Bay, make sure to click the link to renew your season tickets!"zgolfz85 said:
hilarious that DQ was the obv choice all along. he had the team's respect and was already there. instead, we let him go to our hated rival and now have to watch as his team has fun and remember that the game can actually be fun to play still, instead of being in this all biz 24/7 culture that Jerry has created.
but hey, a lot of us were laughed out of the room for that take

If you bring in Prime, you're changing QBs to Shedeur…
Prime has said the only NFL job he'd listen to was the one who would let him coach his kid at QB…
I think the fun of the game for DQ's teams is easy to see, including here. There's a lot of intangible value in getting 21-38 yr old guys having fun again and distracting them from the 24/7 "this is a business" culture that we've allowed to take hold here.gigem1223 said:
I don't think DQ is any different than Mike McCarthy. He just had the benefit of Jayden Daniels and a healthy roster.
Witten can't be any worse at coaching than he was as a commentatorSouthlake said:
I'd think of it like this:
Props to MM for not wanting to put up with Jerry bs any longer.
Not sure who would want to. Yeah, Zimmer would; he's got nothing else. Not sure anybody but 82 will.
It's going to be Witten.
They will hire one of Moore, Gruden, Zimmer, or Carroll. Witten will be a mandatory staff add at TE coach and and if it is Zimmer or Carroll then Witten will be AHC as well.Southlake said:

MCDC actually had coaching experience above the TAPPS levelSouthlake said:
Yeah, Witten would be Jerry's Dan Campbell. He's malleable. Everyone in Dallas loves him.
Nobody will get upset at a poor first year.
Great PR. Great hire.
Jerry again will be the center of attention. The cowboys and Jason will be the lead story in the NFL.
Welcome Jason!
Sometimes I'm shocked that Jerry isn't a sip. That's a page right out of their playbookAgristotle said:
you know Jerry will milk this as long as he can, he loves the media attention. In a perfect world, Jerry would announce it the day before the Super Bowl.
Lane Kiffin would certainly be interesting....I'd rather he be in Dallas than Austin.Tksymm7 said:

Hell, there isn't a single Detroit Lion "not having fun" right now in that locker room
yes and no. They played hard 2nd half of season no doubt, but that first half of the season is still a question markTrucker 96 said:zgolfz85 said:I think the fun of the game for DQ's teams is easy to see, including here. Either way though, McCarthy's teams played hard for him. He had the respect of that room and the issues here don't seem to relate to his style.
I honestly don't give two shts who the coach is if they win. Different than college football where whoever is representing your alma matter better as hell represent good ethics and integrity. Pro team support is a different animal. We all know pro teams have fans over varying dimensions, backgrounds, values, and issues all across the world. Coaches are throw aways as much as the players. Only thing that matters is to win and entertain.TyHolden said:Lane Kiffin would certainly be interesting....I'd rather he be in Dallas than Austin.Tksymm7 said:

as trucker said, I don't think the first half was them not playing hard. I think it was getting a new defense figured out and youth on the OL.zgolfz85 said:yes and no.
