Jerry being Jerry

I didn't know this but apparently Rush was due a bonus if he played 55% of offensive snaps this season.

If Rush had played today he likely would have hit that bonus for $500k. But we all know what happened (played lance).

Jerry, did you know this would cost Rush his bonus? Nope.

Sure Jerry…..Sure.

Cooper Rush's contract with the Dallas Cowboys includes several bonuses and incentives. The most recent contract signed in 2023 includes a $1.25 million signing bonus. Additionally, Rush had a performance-based incentive that would have earned him $500,000 if he played 55% of the offensive snaps during the 2024 season. However, this incentive was not achieved due to the Cowboys benching him in favor of Trey Lance for the Week 18 game against the Washington Commanders. Rush had played 52.5% of the offensive snaps up to that point, and playing the majority of the game would have been necessary to reach the 55% threshold.

Could give a rats ass about Rush's bonus. It was good to see Lance play today. Would've liked to seen him play a few games down the stretch just to get a good evaluation heading into next season.

Yeah…this is my thought as well. Don't be atrocious last week and maybe you get the start and get that bonus. They also wanted to get a look at Lance.

The absurd part is Jerry saying he didn't know about the incentives but wants to play the gm role. This is why Dallas's ceiling is where it is.

This is the type of bull**** that worries free agents

Good job, Jersey. The Cowboys continue to suck yet another season

So either Jerruh is a vindictive cheapskate or an incompetent cheapskate. Which is worse?

Wow that Rush incentive is a really really bad look for an organized that looks bad regularly

So happy to see Jerry choke once again. Then dammit, if he didn't have a great cameo appearance in today's Landman.

Just when I think I can't dislike Jerruh any more, he goes and does something like this.

Nah, if they wanted to "take a look at lance" it would have been before this week. It's exactly what it looks like

Why should we care about Rush's bonus? If he went undefeated in Daks absence, he would've got enough snaps.

Because it shows one of two things.
1. Jerry doesn't know what he's doing because he couldn't remember rush having this incentive.

2. Jerry is an ass and refuses to pay the back up after a stupid contract to his starter.

Either way, Dallas will never win again as long as Jerry controls things.

Only thing I would add is that Rush is set to be a free agent and this may impact his decision to resign with the Cowboys, assuming they want to bring him back.

Personally, I think once the Cowboys were officially eliminated from the playoffs, which was prior to the Bucs game, they should have handed the reins over to Lance to evaluate him more.

It also shows just how cheap and cash poor the Cowboys are. I'll die on the hill of Jerry having cash flow problems.

Lance needed to play yesterday. This isn't a charity. Rush played well enough this year to likely be too expensive to retain, so you need to start looking at options. Jerry is awful at public speaking and does not think ahead about what he's going to say.

I've maintained forever that a good backup is worth their weight in gold, especially in an era where QBs rarely seem to make it through the season unscathed.

The question is how much of your cap can you put into one position. You need a guy good enough to keep you at .500 for a short stretch. Otherwise, your season is ****ed anyway

It also wouldn't have been hard to say "tough decision but he has been able to earn some bonuses including last week. We also feel like Lance has earned a shot and we really wanted to evaluate our room as we head into the offseason". But he's old, has never been good at public speaking, and was probably barely even involved in the decision.

While I think McCarthy will be back and it's probably the right choice, if he wasn't retained I would give Aaron Glenn a serious look as well as all of the other candidates. What he did last night to Minnesota was all-time stuff, and he seems to have much more of a culture changer and setter mindset than say his OC counterpart.

There are two options I see with this, one is that McCarthy already has decided Lance has no future really.
The other is that Jerry and front office made the call as to who starts

The other teams - Bills, Bucs, etc. worked to get some players their incentives.

If Jerry was so worried about Lance getting reps, he would have played him last week.

Do you really think Jerry didn't know?

Hope Rush finds a better job elsewhere.

I'm sure Jerry was more worried about his cameo on Landman.

I'll say this and leave it alone; someone did the math on how many snaps Rush would've actually needed to hit his 55% mark, and it came out to him needing 80 snaps that game to do it. While not impossible, the odds of logging 80+ offensive snaps in an NFL game is pretty stinking low.
