Exactly! He should have been fired immediately after the GB game. This year is 100% on Jerry. I'm not going to bother to look it up, but he has, what, maybe 2 playoff wins and he's been here 4 or 5 years.

All the while he's had teams with All Pros at the most crucial positions... CB (two of them!), DE, WR. And all of that mixed in with Pro Bowlers at QB, O-line, RB, & special teams.

Just like every other coach for the past 30 years... no excuse that Mike didn't even get us to an NFC Title game. Pathetic really.

Serious question. We lament McCarthy in the playoffs, but it's not like the guys before him did any better. Parcells, Phillips, and Garrett all had big years and failed in the playoffs. To me, that's not coaching; it's management. McCarthy has had playoff success before, and like Collinsowrth said last night, I'm not sure how many coaches could find success here with how micromanaged it is. McCarthy has won 12 games in three straight years. His team will finish close to .500 with one of the worst gameday rosters in the league and a backup quarterback.

If you let him go, who do you get? Some unproven coordinator?

You guys are hilarious. You're acting like we didn't just let the better head coach go to a rival and easy money that he'll be coach of the year after his record setting turnaround. The culture there now makes ours look like a joke.

The blatantly obvious move was ditching fat mike and elevating DQ. So now, we're stuck with poor clock management, up and down levels of motivation, a culture that compliments the Jones family circus instead of offsetting it and are an intimidation to no one.

No disrespect towards you, but Dan Quinn can't hold Mike McCarthy's jock as a head coach. Dan Quinn is lucky as all hell he landed on a great young QB with a great coordinator, without those two he's drafting top 5 again. On top of that, Dan Quinn's defense is awful in Washington this year. Lastly, with Mike McCarthy you also get your offensive coordinator who impacts the game and game plan. Dan Quinn doesn't call plays.

Mike McCarthy
Regular season: 174-102 (.612)
Postseason: 11-11 (.500)
Career: 18521-2 (.604)
Super Bowl

Dan Quinn
Regular season: 53-47 (.530)
Postseason: 3-2 (.600)
Career: 56-49 (.533)
Choked the biggest game in the NFL we've ever seen

no disrespect, but if you have eyes, you should use them. Look at the energy on the sidelines, in postgame pressers and more and see the stark contrast between our punch the clock culture and their chest bump, all in culture.

Thanks for the stat analysis that means nothing, especially the 2010 Super Bowl....which feels like any coach with even below avg coaching ability could have won with that roster: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/2010_roster.htm

If I wanted regular season W/L record trophies and feels, sure....great coach. I think we should aspire for more there though. The rosters fat Mike has been blessed with here should yield a lot better than a 1-3 postseason record.

You are just choosing to ignore all the negatives for Dan Quinn because it goes against the narrative you have already decided. Dan Quinn is not "absolutely better" than McCarthy, he is in the same realm. They are good head coaches.
The reality of the situation is, you can have a great regular season and then get a bad matchup in the playoffs any year you make it.
You could be favored against all but 3 teams, but if you match one of those 3 teams its going to take a lot to advance.
You could also just never match any of them and win the Super Bowl.

I'm not tied to McCarthy, but we just have to all accept we arent winning a Super Bowl as long as Jerry is in charge. He is the source of everything that has been wrong with how we build teams for 2 decades.

Gutty win and love the fire and physicality the team played with last night…

But where was this when the games mattered earlier in the season?
Games where Dallas was completely out coached and out played on both sides of the ball…..and at home….

The theme of the McCarthy era in Dallas is they have racked up a lot of wins but haven't won when it mattered

This is what I would hate for all the injuries to allow to be disguised and ignored.
What the hell happened when everyone was still healthy to start the season, that was some of the worst games we have seen them play in a LONG time.

I don't disagree there, but I'm not ignoring the negatives about DQ. I just think he is a much better fit culture-wise to offset the bs the Jones family does, which is all culture killing. I think fat Mike is a match made in heaven for Jerry....and that's a problem.

The intensity in the playoffs gets ratcheted up a notch. You have to up the intensity. I know that sounds basic, but teams in multiple sports have often failed to do it.

The Ottawa Senators were one of the NHL's best for the early part of this century and constantly got bounced in the first round, because they never upped the ante. Similarly, the early 00s Chiefs were notorious for crushing the regular season and getting knocked out in the first round.

On the opposite side, there are teams that seemingly, when they get in, become worldbeaters.

I didn't make any argument. I'm just making sure I understand that you're arguing that a coach with a history epic failure is better than a super-bowl winner who just reeled off three straight 12-win seasons based on a 15-game sample in which the aforementioned coach has defeated one team with a winning record and lost to the latter coach you make fun of.

Also, going along with your argument in favor of Dan Quinn's qualities...thats the exact reason Jerry would never hire him as head coach.

Season is playing out to be so "Dallas".....Suck bad enough to miss the playoffs....Then play just well enough at the end to miss out on the top draft pics......

Want to beat the Eagles or possibly lose another draft pick?

Yeah I am beating the Eagles if possible. We aren't sniffing a top five pick, so who cares where we end up now. Plus ruining their playoff seeding would give me some joy this season.

If I had to guess, it's because the coaching staff believes they're coaching for their jobs. If you look at it through that lense, you'd start Rush to win the games.
