hilarious that DQ was the obv choice all along. he had the team's respect and was already there. instead, we let him go to our hated rival and now have to watch as his team has fun and remember that the game can actually be fun to play still, instead of being in this all biz 24/7 culture that Jerry has created.

but hey, a lot of us were laughed out of the room for that take

The DQ situation was tough because his defense was shredded by the youngest team in the league to close the 2023 season. Jerry is a salesmen at heart and that is an incredibly tough sell to the fan base. "We fired Mike to promote DQ who gave up 40 points to Green Bay, make sure to click the link to renew your season tickets!"

If you bring in Prime, you're changing QBs to Shedeur…

Prime has said the only NFL job he'd listen to was the one who would let him coach his kid at QB…

I don't think DQ is any different than Mike McCarthy. He just had the benefit of Jayden Daniels and a healthy roster.

My guess it's moore's job to lose. But who will be his defense coordinator?

I'd think of it like this:

Props to MM for not wanting to put up with Jerry bs any longer.

Not sure who would want to. Yeah, Zimmer would; he's got nothing else. Not sure anybody but 82 will.

It's going to be Witten.

I think the fun of the game for DQ's teams is easy to see, including here. There's a lot of intangible value in getting 21-38 yr old guys having fun again and distracting them from the 24/7 "this is a business" culture that we've allowed to take hold here.

Hell, there isn't a single Detroit Lion "not having fun" right now in that locker room

Witten can't be any worse at coaching than he was as a commentator

They will hire one of Moore, Gruden, Zimmer, or Carroll. Witten will be a mandatory staff add at TE coach and and if it is Zimmer or Carroll then Witten will be AHC as well.

Yeah, Witten would be Jerry's Dan Campbell. He's malleable. Everyone in Dallas loves him.

Nobody will get upset at a poor first year.

Great PR. Great hire.

Jerry again will be the center of attention. The cowboys and Jason will be the lead story in the NFL.

Welcome Jason!

you know Jerry will milk this as long as he can, he loves the media attention. In a perfect world, Jerry would announce it the day before the Super Bowl.

MCDC actually had coaching experience above the TAPPS level

Every candidate Cowlishaw lists in his article on the DMNs makes me want to gouge my eyes out except for maybe Sarkisian.

Kingsbury
Lane Kiffin
Jon Gruden
Brian Flores
Steve Sarkisian

Sometimes I'm shocked that Jerry isn't a sip. That's a page right out of their playbook

Lane Kiffin would certainly be interesting....I'd rather he be in Dallas than Austin.

Valid point. From that perspective Sark and Kiffin can do what they want with the Cowboys.

Either way though, McCarthy's teams played hard for him. He had the respect of that room and the issues here don't seem to relate to his style.

yes and no. They played hard 2nd half of season no doubt, but that first half of the season is still a question mark

I'm just glad Mike is gone! I think he is a good coach, but it was clear after the GB game that it just wasn't going to work in Dallas anymore.

The fact that Jerry was possibly trying to bring him back again says it all... Jerry has no plan and no clue. Let's just hope he falls backwards into the perfect coach. It can happen.

I think the biggest issue with the first half was still figuring out what Zimmer was wanting. And 2 rookie starting OL who were greener than green

I honestly don't give two shts who the coach is if they win. Different than college football where whoever is representing your alma matter better as hell represent good ethics and integrity. Pro team support is a different animal. We all know pro teams have fans over varying dimensions, backgrounds, values, and issues all across the world. Coaches are throw aways as much as the players. Only thing that matters is to win and entertain.

as trucker said, I don't think the first half was them not playing hard. I think it was getting a new defense figured out and youth on the OL.

I don't care about personality as a fan, but Kiffin is so emotionally immature that it would take no time for him to step on his dick with a room full of professionals

What's going to be the biggest splash and sell the most papers? That's what Jerry will do regardless if it is actually successful

Which makes me think he's going to hire Deion and bring in Shedeur to take over at QB.

Winning is fun, the team clearly had a lot of fun winning 10+ games 3 seasons in a row
