Why in the world did they not bring back Gilmore.. That corner trip with Bland in the slot would be lethal, and it protects against injury like we have now.

Dallas pays their good players like they are great. They missed their window the last couple of years when they were close in large part because Dak gags when the big money is in the pot.

He is not worth that contract but I understand Jerry is too old to move on. For a legendary "deal-maker", Jerry got absolutely destroyed on Dak's last TWO contracts! Dak got everything, Jerry got nothing. He should have offered Dak a contract with a hometown discount built into it and if that wasn't good enough, let Dak take his Choke show somewhere else.

It wouldn't matter, unless you got rid of all the other chokers on the team and started over.

It was my impression that Gilmore is on the backside of his career. I haven't looked at his grading but I suspect they felt bland, Diggs and Lewis is a pretty good top 3. And they are if bland doesn't get injured.

Worst running game. One of the worst in pass blocking. One of the worst in getting separation.

Dak is solid but is not a guy that will carry a team, but with this roster, I don't think a guy that can carry it exists. The only mistakes they made with his contracts has been not getting them done earlier.

3 wins are against QB-less teams.

Watson out w Achilles. Wonder if they would trade Chubb?

I would hope the cowboys have zero interest in chubb. There are many better options at the RB position.

"We like our guys" jerry jr

I can see them picking a running back in the first round and everyone going ape **** because good backs can be taken in later rounds. Rinse wash repeat with this team

I agree that we need to draft someone. I'm more talking about a trade to get some immediate health.

It's starting to become apparent that the 49ers might have their own "Dak Dilemma" on their hands. Is Brock Purdy really worth paying 50+ million dollars? Especially with their offensive weapons dropping like flies and serious questions arising around their aging players. He's for sure not playing like a 50+ million dollar guy.

Maybe we could trade them back Lance for a 1st?

Etienne, Ford, Herbert, sanders?

Etienne and Ford are hurt. But both presumably lost their starting jobs. I think Jax just has an awful oline and Etienne would be more of a like pollard replacement. Ford has been good but that offense was so bad with Watson that I don't think he got many opportunities.
Herbert has had big games with the bears but never had a shot.
Sanders might have a bounce back. He has a 2.5 MM dead cap hit in '25 which isn't dreadful. Likely won't cost much since Hubbard is the 1 and Brooks is potential to take over and is the future.

To be fair to Purdy KC has a legit defense.
They were missing Aiyuk, Deebo and Juan Jennings. CMC is a lot of cap space that isn't playing. You aren't going to beat KC with only Kittle.

I bet 49ers are wishing they traded Aiyuk right about now.

I'm a fan of Khalil Herbert and Miles Sanders could be a better option as well. There's also free agents I would take over chubb, such as Leonard Fournette.

1000%. He's a solid NFL receiver but he's not worth the 30 million that they are paying him. The reason I say that about Purdy is because I don't think he's near the QB without all the weapons.

Speaking of running backs, a lot of the early mocks have the Cowboys taking Boise State RB and current Heisman favorite Ashton Jeantry in the first. Obviously very early for those predictions but he is a fun watch:

Jeanty is great but the track record of taking running backs in the first is pretty clear....now Bijan and Gibbs could very well end up worth the draft capital but historically it just isn't worth it.

I disagree. I think a distinction needs to be made between a high first and middle to late first.

Gibbs has absolutely been worth the pick. Bijan is debatable due to where he was picked.

If you can get a stud in the middle of the first, you do it. Also, keep in mind, the league is morphing into more of a run game league. The rushing numbers are up.

I'm not opposed to adding more weapons on offense in a vacuum. We absolutely need to get better around Dak and Ceedee, however, the defense is still a dumpster fire inside of a train wreck. I'd spend almost all early draft capital on defensive lineman until it's figured out.

agree the defense is struggling. However, you can at least say the defense will get guys back in Bland and Parsons and possibly Tank, later.

It may not be fair judging the defense on recent problems because Detroit put up points on a really good Minn defense yesterday on the road.

I think if the offense can get better and have a running game to help them, the defense could get back to a respectable level.

Miles Sanders hasn't been good in years.

I'm not sure who would win a footrace between him and Zeke, they are both old and slow.

Jeanty could be a top 5 pick. Maybe Dallas trades up?

As far as picking up any players this year, I dont understand why. This team is going nowhere.

You don't think the team could improve?

What if Detroit has a major injury. SF seems mortal. I just don't see how you can give up on a season this early.

LF over Chubb right now is a ridiculous take.

Are you saying "better options" as in they have more favorable contracts?

because under no circumstances is any of the listed RBs in the same stratosphere as Nick Chubb when he's healthy.

Thank you. I felt like I was taking crazy pills when someone was touting Herbert, Sanders, and retired Fournette over Chubb.

I'm not trying to defend the fournette part, but Chubb is coming off a major surgery. He had 11 carried for 22 yards against a bad defense. I don't think he is close to Chubb pre-injury

Here's the sticking point. That was a gruesome injury that was just 13 months ago. It would be an aberration if he was anywhere near his old self this season. He's a freak, so it's possible he regains his old form next season, but it's also possible, if not likely, that he's never the same player.

In other words, not worth giving up draft capital for.

Fournette may be a stretch, I just don't see chubb returning to being an elite back.

I like the guy so I hope I'm wrong but I imagine he'll be a 3-3.5 YPC guy this season and his best days are behind him.

He's a freak the level that few in the NFL are. On a better team he'd be in the conversation of greatest in this generation if he isnt already.

A hobbled Chubb is better than Myles Sanders or any of the others.

And none of them are worth giving up draft capital for.
