So based on the sheriff's rebuttal of my original theory that the images were two separate days in those pictures, he claims because there's no timestamp is pure speculation. Same here. When this story broke ICE was the main story on the news from busting up the billion dollar grift by illegal Somalians in Minnesota and deporting illegals all over. I still think it's some idiot linked to a cartel that decided to kidnap her for money on his own thinking he would get a big payday; both are buried in the desert.

IMO the million dollar reward should have been offered on the second day. Someone else knew about this who wasn't directly involved and would have spilled the beans.
Sounds like Savannah wanted to hold onto her stacks of money. Even if LE advised against it she easily had the ability to put up the offer.

Savanah went with a political approach (Mark Kelly, local sheriff) for her mom's abduction investigation . A really bad decision. Sorry she had to learn a hard lesson this way. Simply put, there are times when one must set politics aside and go with the best team available.

As Fire Ag said this nailed it. I never understood why she got Mark Kelly involved, what authority or ability does a senator have in this situation, a governor on the other hand, I could see having some influence and direct lines to the correct people. When this turns out bad, I wonder how Kelly is going to feel about posting those coffee and donut videos praising that dip**** Nanos.
I'm having a hard time faulting her for calling a senator. If my mom was missing and I could personally reach out to my senator (or any senator), I'd be asking for all the help I could get.
Now if she had some sway on who was leading the investigation and picked the sheriff over the FBI for political reasons, that's a different story.

When you are high on the food chain as Savannah Guthrie and Mark Kelly, chances are they probably know each other already, or at least know how to get in contact. It could be that Mark Kelly reached out to her to use his influence and get his face on TV, him being the noble elected servant that he is and continually trying to show he helps the people of Arizona.
I don't doubt they knew each other and the senator obviously knows the sheriff. Just weird to me to give Kelly the spotlight when you know he hates everything Trump and everyone Trump appointed. Not a good way to get the FBI involved early.
She can't be alive by now. It's my hope that she was killed either purposefully or accidentally the night of, as opposed to living in a nightmare until her life ran out.

The family doesn't get to choose who investigates what. That's all hashed out between the agencies and their respective jurisdictions.
They called who they thought could help and it was fkcd up from that point on.
I don't fault the family at all on this aspect of the story.

Who is to say Kelly didn't steer her away from the FBI for political reasons?

The local authorities are so bad it probably doesn't matter who she knew.
Hindsight - get the FBI in on day 1 and use the Senator to pressure the locals to let the FBI run things. But the locals could still could have said no.
You know, I don't blame her. It's a local jurisdiction thing so I would have first reached out to the city/county and then the state and then the senator. I wouldn't have thought that the FBI needed to be involved.
But then again I had no idea just how bad the local authorities were.
Truthfully, a stranger abduction is a very, very tough case to solve no matter who you are. These keystone kops have made a tough case into an impossible one.

I believe it was discussed here, but the FBI had jurisdiction but at the request of the family in the locals the sheriff took the lead. So I think its okay to blame her, certainly okay to at least ask the question.
You mom is missing, signs of struggle, etc and you know the Attorney General of the United States. But let Barney Fife and a space test monkey take the lead?
Yes, there is one organization better at this than any in the world. I'd want them taking as big of a role as possible as soon as possible, and if I had clout to throw around, it would be thrown toward making that happen.

As an Arizonan it's sad that a person as horrible as Kelly is our senator. She made a poor,political choice.
