If they want to solve this, Savannah needs to offer at least 1 million dollar reward for any tips that leads to the abductor. That will get the attention of the local gangsters and low lifes...Somebody knows who did it, they need to stop screwing around, the FBI and local police got jack squat...

If that gets nothing after a few days, offer 2 million, there's a dollar figure she can reach that someone will bite...

i was thinking about best strategy here. She needs to turn the tables on not only the kidnappers but also Sheriff and FBI. She should say something like this:

Mom, if you're watching, we love you. And this... well, this is what waits for the man that took him. This is your ransom. Two million dollars in unmarked bills, just like you wanted. But this is as close as you'll ever get to it. You'll never see one dollar of this money, because no ransom will ever be paid for my mom. Not one dime, not one penny. Instead, I'm offering this money as a reward on your head. Dead or alive, it doesn't matter. So congratulations, you've just become a two million dollar lottery ticket... except the odds are much, much better. Do you know anyone that wouldn't turn you in for two million dollars? I don't think you do. I doubt it. So wherever you go and whatever you do, this money will be tracking you down for all time. And to ensure that it does, to keep interest alive, I'm running a full-page ad in every major newspaper every Sunday... for as long as it takes. But... and this is your last chance... you return my mom, alive, uninjured, I'll withdraw the bounty. With any luck you can simply disappear. Understand... you will never see this money. Not one dollar. So you still have a chance to do the right thing. If you don't, well, then, God be with you, because nobody else on this Earth will be.

Is Mel Gibson playing the part of Savannah Guthrie?

Mel's a good choice. Just keep him away from the liquor cabinet and recorded phone lines.

I don't see how Savannah can just go back to her old role when this is resolved. I don't see how this would not change you and your role in the sleazy world of the main stream media. Especially if her sister and brother in law are a part of this. But even if they were not, all the accusations thrown their way by "journalists " who want to be first or without fact checking would have me questioning my role in the msm.

Like Charles Lindbergh's son?

like Frank Sinatra's son?!?!

Like J. Paul Getty III

Like Patty Hearst

The Hearst family used their considerable influence to preposterously cast Patty's Hearst's willing participation in bank robbery as being coerced...but yeah, Getty.

JPGIII had his ear cut off by his captors as proof they had him, and his Scrooge McDuck grandfather still didn't want to pay the entire ransom. He gave his son a gift that was the maximum allowable under tax law that paid for part of it, and the rest of it was a zero-interest loan. Those were some hard core folks on both sides.

Lost interest in this story for several days so SIAP but is there any type of consensus on the type of gloves the guy on the ring camera was wearing? Those gloves have been bothering me. (Maybe a flashback to OJ, LOL.)

TIA.

I doubt Savannah sees her role as sleazy, in fact, I think journalists typically believe the opposite and see their job as a mission. With that said, sure, this is going to impact her heavily for the rest of her life.

I can't think of the last time a high profile case had someone arrested that didn't end up being the one charged. They usually are pretty good about connecting the dots before they make an arrest. This one just seems like a huge screw up or the dots they connected just randomly hit on the wrong guy.

The Guthrie family has to be in panic. They were before but this shows that they aren't close to figuring this out.

On the inside it's not sleazy. But she is getting it from the other side now so she may look at it with different perspective and see it as sleazy.

Yes you do. Process of elimination. You attempt to identify every car you see on a recording - especially after the time she was abducted. One of those might be THE car.

If there's no footage from in the neighborhood you have no idea what kind of car you're looking for.

Exactly. You find the car on a video, you zoom into the license plate, then you say 'enhance', then 'magnify', then say 'again', and finally 'that's it'.

I would add the caveat that if her Mom doesn't make it, then I could see how she just walks away from it all.

If she turns up safe, then it's probably a different story, with a sort of hiatus. But a return, with really big ratings and pressure to tell her "story ".

I know, gross. But reality (no pun intended)

She'd have to be real careful how she words that or they would accuse her of hiring a hitman, basically.

She might as well just throw the big reward out there though, if the FBI has nothing at this point, she should just go rogue and put it out there, but talk to a good lawyer first on how to word it if she wants to do it in a semi threatening fashion like that.

I would just do it, if they never solve this, the scammers are going to be making her life hell the rest of her life with the "I know where your mom is buried, send bitcoin" BS...Best she can hope for otherwise is some hunter or outdoor enthusiasts eventually stumbles onto the remains in the desert.

-12,000. People just realizing between this and the Super Bowl Nest commercial all of these Tech companies are tracking them regardless if they wanted them to.

And in this case, Google has the video, even though she didn't pay to store it, and it still hasn't led to an identification or arrest.

It is semantics, but you aren't paying them to store it, you are paying them to let you access what they have stored.
