I agree. I just laugh that the animated stuff has the best star wars since the OT. There is not reason they fail at these life actions shows except hubris.

I'm pretty sure you and my 11 year old niece are the only folks I know who are legit hyped for this show.
I've got 4 family members - daughter, brother, niece and dad - that I discuss every episode with, plus my best friend and his 14 year old son, plus 2-4 other dads at the Saturday swim meets, plus about 5,000 other Star Wars Fans on The Force.net that I geek out about with it weekly.

Consider me your first step into a larger world.

I'm shocked this group happily takes whatever Star Wars they get with a smile. Shocked.

Qui-Gon, at least his voice, is about the surest thing to be predicted in a show.
Leia is kidnapped one last time in Episode 6, and Qui-Gon takes the ransom call for Obi-Wan.

Quote:

"If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let Leia go now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you."

That made me laugh out loud. Blue parachute sir!

Would also like to see people implode if he just gives Obi-Wan the exact same training/dialogue that he gives Batman in Batman Begins.

I seem to be in the minority on this episode, based on IMDB ratings and general reactions on YouTube.

I am probably going to rewatch it anyway so hopefully some of the plot mechanics won't bug me as much and the motivations will be a bit clearer. But the music and lack of de-aging definitely disappointed.

They de-aged him they just didn't do the best job. They should have narrowed his face more, he has the fullness of present-day Hayden, not 2002 Hayden.

All of these lightsaber wound survivals are making Qui-Gon seem like a real ***** for dying in the first couple of minutes after he got stabbed.

Well that certainly wasn't the episode I expected after the last one. And not in a good way.

I guess my main problem with the whole series is motivation, and both Vader's and Reva's motivations just don't make sense to me.

Vader lets Obi-Wan go, presumably because he is too weak. Ok, I'll buy that. But then, why go immediately after him without even giving him the chance to train, build himself back up, etc? Why let him go in the first place? Did he just want to extend the hunt slightly? Or is it the hunt itself that he enjoys? Either way, that whole third episode has been rendered moot.

Reva...I just don't get. I can buy that she was a Youngling and saw Anakin, but I do not buy that heel turn in a matter of a 30 seconds after a conversation with Obi-Wan. What was her end goal? If she really just wanted revenge against Vader, why was she so set on capturing Obi-Wan? And if her rage was actually towards Obi-Wan, how did she flip on a dime like that? None of her story makes much sense to me.

Furthermore, there is zero chance Vader doesn't kill her right there. Leaving her alive makes absolutely no sense and is clearly just for plot reasons. I don't buy that one bit and it makes as much sense as the whole letting Obi-Wan go thing.

Also, what the hell was the Grand Inquisitor doing all this time? You're telling me he was just hiding right behind the door waiting for his chance to make a dramatic entrance?

I will admit seeing the flashbacks was cool, but did they even ATTEMPT to de-age Hayden? Seriously, you can get almost a perfect recreation of young Luke Skywalker in BOBF, but you can't de-age Hayden 20 years? That was a clearly 40 year old playing a 20 year old. It looked ridiculous and it killed almost all of those scenes for me.

I guess Vader stopping the transport was pretty cool. A little convenient that they knew exactly when to take off to set that trap, but I guess Obi-Wan could've sensed him. I'll buy it just because it looked dope and was a cool Vader moment.

Now five episodes of no Star Wars music. All we got was that generic knock-off music that SOUNDED a bit like the Imperial March when Vader was marching towards the transport. Seriously, you HAVE THE ACTUAL MUSIC. Why the **** are you still making what sounds like offbrand Star Wars music?

For all the things that I enjoyed in the episode, there was more things that bugged me, sadly.

Sigh. This character deserved so much better than what they've given us so far.

Reva was left alive to make a spin-off with a black female lead. This is the new Disney model. The only plan is more shows

I have been watching this with my 8 year old. He loves it and thinks they should make a ton more episodes. He also says Episode 9 is the best movie.

So there's that.

Despite the fact that there was, once again, so many choices/circumstances that made zero sense, at least that episode had some good moments.

Young Obi-Wan & Anakin duel... very cool scene and probably the best editing of the entire show the way they spliced it in. The lesson learned in the duel along with Obi-Wan getting the best of Vadar as they escaped... that at least allows the line in A New Hope (when last we met I was but the learner, now I am the master) to make sense.

Anakin "having to win" seems to be a lesson he continues to fail out. He "kills" Obi-Wan in ANH but at the expense of letting Luke escape. Then he's so focused on Luke in the X-Wing he fails to realize Han's return to knock him out of the way in the Death Star trench.

Even his awesome hallway display in Rogue One is some major-league showboating while Leia escapes with the plans.

Star Wars needs to do a series where all these conflicted youths go to a Galactic counselor to talk about their problems and emotions. Then the counselor gives them guidances and says "you don't want to go suppressing all these feelings and pain and turn into the next Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, or Reva now do you?"

Surprisingly, they actually did set that up in that episode we first meet them. Something was said about how it was just a dumb loader droid... she countered that argument. Don't remember exactly what was said, but there was a noticeable bond between the two.
