I really enjoyed both episodes.

Not going to lie, I really didn't love it. Something just felt off and I can't explain it. I get how they tied it directly to episodes 1-3 as a stage setter, but I don't look too fondly on that trilogy. Linking it so closely just lumps this in and makes me realize how poorly it was executed. Maybe that's not fair to this, but I can't escape it.
If you didn't like the prequels you will not like this series.
Saved you 5 weeks.
i think it was made for people that love Obi-Wan, and I think most people who dislike the prequels had an issue with how it was written and directed.Brian Earl Spilner said:PatAg said:I don't know that this sentiment makes sense.Brian Earl Spilner said:JDUB08AG said:

It makes perfect sense. It was clearly made for people who loved the prequels and it will tie in to them very closely.
He didn't like them and doesn't want them to tie in.
Seems pretty straightforward?
Yea, i was not expect that much hostility in that exchange, but it immediately made sense. They conveyed a lot of context in a few sentences and body language.wcb said:
Really like the Ben / Owen exchanges. Very interesting dynamic. Hope to see more of that.
I'm landing somewhere in B- or C+ territory at the moment. I think just the brightness of the lighting or how clean everyone looks makes it look so different than EP4. Good grief Lucas nailed his craft.

Bunch of 40 year olds forgetting that they saw the original series when they were 7 years old and are over analyzing these shows and judging them with less generosity than they do those films. If they saw Star Wars with fresh eyes today they'd hit it with just as much criticism.cbr said:
Im surprised at the negative vibes, man
I enjoyed it. It wasnt a huge WOW, but a very solid sw show. So far so goood.
Leia is just what she figured to be. Take the good with the bad.
By far the weakest is the sister. The i quisitors are kind of weak too. But they came from a pretty weak cartoon

Oh yea, and Im sure a lot of it depends on your age when it released.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Agree to disagree I suppose.
But side point, massive difference between writing, and dialogue. I think most people's issues were specifically with the dialogue, not the story.

I don't know what it the most awful - the acting, screenplay, or directing v
Phantom menace is smiling. Post Jedi Lucas was blasted for how bad it was but the history made it endure. If this is purposely a throwback to the "good old days" pretending phantom menace was worth repeating…episodes one and most of two were justifiably panned at the time. You're fooling yourselves if you suddenly think they needed to be repeated.

Agree this was great. I am 48. I can attest to how true this is. Things break down in this stage of life. And it does shatter your spirit.Vince Blake said:
Regarding the Ben/Owen sceneI really wish the trailer hadn't spoiled the "like you trained his father" line. From a performance standpoint, that exhange has been the highlight.
Another great acting piece by Ewan was when he was talking to the Organas on the holo-com, and the line was something like "I'm not the man I was 10 years ago" and Ewan's face perfectly captured the man with a shattered spirit. Gut wrenching.

Finally just watched both episodes. Loved it.
Something I thought about is how this show is setting up to tie into Episode IV when Leia calls Obi Wan for help (you're my only hope)
Well as viewers of episode 4, we never really get why Leia sent that to Obi Wan, other than the vague connection he realizes with Luke.
Seems like to me, 2 episodes in, this will explain that. Leia was saved by a mysterious "Obi wan Kenobi" she learns her father was able to get to come help her the first time.
At the start of Episode IV, Leia reaches the ultimate desperation move to seek out the Obi Wan Kenobi that saved her in her childhood; who she only vaguely remembers but her parents always spoke highly of.
I'm stoned. Sorry for the stream of consciousness.

I thought the girl inquisitor was bad. Acting, writing, direction for her. You have people called inquisitors and a guy called a grand inquisitor who has an insubordinate subordinate and he just chides her?!?!?! The people that killed kids?!?!?
Then they show her see the shooting between and obi wan and the hunters on the roof top and it is literally about 4 rooftops away and we get a montage of her doing parkour for 3 minutes but taking forever to get there.
Then we get the equivalent of Darth Vader's "Nooooooooooooo" as Obi Wan flies away on what appears to be a sublight-speed cargo barge, but she just stands there yelling cheesy lines at the departing ship. Go get on a fast ship and catch him!!
Ugh. I can see people saying Meh and the ones who really dislike it. I just cannot imagine the mental gymnastics some of the fanboys are having to do to defend this as really great.
And yeah the Leia chase scenes were so dumb. At no time before she floated through space in one of the last movies was it ever hinted she had some super running speed power... this was literally a 4 or 5 year old girl outrunning adults.
um……help me out chief….YouBet said:jokershady said:

I'm so glad I wasn't alone in noticing all of that. Figured I was gonna get ratiod by fanboys.
Another thing I hated that I hate about quite a few shows/movies. When Leia is dissed at that event by her older cousin and she responds with level 10 intelligent sass. I always HATE it when a child character is written to speak with advanced adult dialogue. She would have been like "awww you hurt my feelings. Stop being mean to me." But this show has her like "Ha, quite to the contrary, my dear cousin, it is YOU who has a convoluted perspective on this situation." Writer please.
Good call and I agree. Easy way to tie in her force abilities.Definitely Not A Cop said:Teacher_Ag said:

I'm expecting them, based on what is happened so far, to reveal Leia is already unknowingly using the force to sense people's emotions, which makes her seem more advanced intellectually. I think she was sensing her cousins and Kenobi's emotions in both of the first two episodes.

She's supposedly 10 in this show but looks like a 3 yr old running. Look at her running in episode one. It's why I said she may have a disability or she's just highly behind her age on the developmental scale.
Glad the posts that follow agreed.BenFiasco14 said:Garrelli 5000 said:

Wow. So much to unpack here. From the anger out of nowhere to the freezing cold take.
Your opinion is bad; and you should feel bad.
