Like a lot of the visuals, and the idea that we will be seeing a lot of what the Empire was doing to hunt jedi's down.

Mark me down as cautiously optimistic after Book of Boba Fett, though it is a different team of people I believe.
Will be interesting to see what drives him to leave the planet

If you're genuinely curious, this is answered in part of the spoiler stuff posted early in the thread. It's pretty cool/smart, and not even hinted at in the trailer.
Appreciate the thought, but I enjoy finding that stuff out in the show.
I get you guys don't find less enjoyment in the show/movie after spoilers, but i definitely do.

Thought you were gonna post The Beginning. (Legitimately one of the best making-of documentaries ever.)

I grew up with Mexican MTV and don't remember ever seeing TRL, so never saw that.

Tangent: Mexican MTV was the **** back in the day. In the late 90s / early 00s, when MTV started shifting to reality tv, our MTV still played music videos. (Along with Jackass and Celebrity Deathmatch.)

Ah, memories.

Amen, brotha. I wish I could star this multiple times.

I'll never understand spoiling stuff for yourself on purpose.

In our defense, none of it spoils any big moments or anything like that. It's mainly just basic setup/motivation stuff. I definitely don't want to know the big twists/turns/developments, but I do enjoy having a bit more context going into a movie/show, and that's really all any of this is (save for maybe one big-ish event, but even that's half-shown in the trailer).

I would pay a lot of money to watch a Star Wars movie for the first time with this guy.

Gah. I missed this.

I haven't felt this kind of hype for Star Wars since at least 2019. Maybe even 2015.

I love me some Mando don't get me wrong, but it never reached these levels in the months leading up to it.

And we still got a while to go, with a full trailer waiting for us.

So, I was thinking last night that when Luke went into exile - he cut himself off from the force completely, and that is part of the reason he became so difficult to locate. I'm not crazy about the idea, but it is canon at this point. Given that, perhaps Kenobi can't fully cut himself off in a similar way, and that leads to some level of detection... would it be completely out of left field to get a Kenobi / Vader force time scene?

Also, in digging, I love that the internet collectively discovered that right before Kenobi's death, he gets to see Luke and Leia have been reunited. Perhaps that is his moment of inner peace, even if it was completely coincidental by Lucas at the time.

I'm pretty sure I experienced Endgame with the female, Marvel equivalent of this guy, and it was not an enjoyable experience. Maybe I'm no fun though.

Also they are certainly showing that based on the trailer there's going to a heavy focus on the sith and inquisitors…..pretty much every shot was of the bad guys once duel of the fates kicked which makes sense but that's awesome…..after all the hand holding from BoBF I want to see some dark stuff

IO9 had a nice breakdown of the trailer, suggesting that the new robot we see might be voiced by Kumail Nanjiani. Also I didn't notice the female Imperial officer we see getting off a ship is Indira Varma, who was in GoT as Ellaria Sand, paramour of Oberyn Martell played by Pedro Pascal/Din Djarin.

I could be wrong, but I also appreciated that at least one of the people shown was just a normal imperial officer of some kind.

It bugs me that the actual movie version of Duel of the Fates is nowhere to be found on the soundtrack. You have the single version up top, and it plays in the End Credits, but it's clipped out of the track where it should play, in the Droid Invasion.

You hear the horn version of those opening DOTF notes, as you hear in the movie when the doors open to Maul, and then it cuts to the droid battle music and never goes back to DOTF.
It is on the Ultimate Edition release.

Which I am currently listening to.

Makes sense. In hide and seek there is a lot more action with the people searching than the ones hiding.

I love the idea of more Sith, but let's get real, I would watch a limited series of Obi-Wan just hanging out in the mountains.

I think (and hope) the first episode will be 100% Obi-Wan on Tatooine and never cut anywhere else. Maybe it'll fill the gaps of those ten years on Tatooine. In fact it might even pick up literally as he drops off baby Luke at the end of ROTS.

I'm betting this will be our Lawrence of Arabia Obi-Wan that we discussed so much in the old Kenobi thread.

The beauty of a limited series is we can get a full hour of this.

I often why Owen and Beru just didn't refer to themselves as Mom & Dad to Luke and take away so many of his questions.

I assume Cliegg Lars died some time after Attack of the Clones. He isn't puttering around in ROTS.

When we hear the Grand Inquisitor say "Where is he?" in the trailer as someone bald approaches him, what if that's Temeura Morrison playing a retired Commander Cody?

The first time Obi-Wan lights up that saber, I'm going to wake up the whole damn house at 2:30 a.m.

I really wonder what goes on in Dave Filoni's head seeing so many of his animated creations breathed into "real" life. I would assume equal parts thrilling and humbling.

If there are Clone Wars era flashbacks in this show, are we going to get Ahsoka, Anakin, and Obi-Wan altogether? Or Yoda? Plo Koon? Conehad Adi Mundi? Kit Fisto? Fit Kisto? Fist Kitto? Judge Ito?

I mean, I think we start there, but they have set up the conflict, the inquisitors, etc.

I feel like I've read it but do we know roughly how many Jedi survived the initial Order 66 and were left to be hunted down?

Off the top of my head:
Yoda
Obi Wan
Ahosoka
Padwan from Jedi Fallen Order
Freddie Prinze Jr

Yeah see I kind of wonder if the opposite doesn't make more sense. The first episode focuses on the inquisitors, their mission, who they are, etc, to set up the show. Then at the end they find some clue about the whereabouts of Obi Wan, and then we get a quick cut to Obi Wan to close the first episode. Set up the stakes of the show before giving us the thing we really want.

Then the entire second episode is Obi-Wan of Arabia.

My prediction is the first episode ends with the Inquisitors arriving on Tatooine.

It could be. I see those two episodes flipped though.

They know we've been waiting years for this. That would just be mean to make us wait another week for what we want to see.

But I suppose they could want that buildup if only for one more week.

The series opens with Obi-Wan saying, "I see why Anakin went insane. This sand does indeed suck."
bobinator

Yeah, the reason I'd like it inquisitors first is that way we don't have to step back from Obi Wan for a big narrative dump. Let's just get that out of the way at the start.

It also would leave open the possibility that, rather than Obi Wan, the show opens with Vader.

After thinking about it, this is now my headcanon. (Obi-Wan seeing Luke/Leia before his death.) Even if unintended by Lucas, it's just too perfect.

He sees them together for the first time, and gives that half smile, like his goal has been fulfilled. Then gives one final look to Vader, as if to say "You've lost, you just don't know it yet."

I also love the fact that Qui-Gon is the reason Obi-Wan is able to guide Luke through the force and eventually lead to the Emperor's death.

In a way Qui-Gon still ends up being the thing leading to Anakin's destiny. Just took a few detours along the way.

Now we have to play out the string - if Qui-Gon doesn't die / defeats Maul, what happens to Anakin?

Does Qui-Gon get to train him?
Does Anakin still fall under the sway of Palpatine?
Can any chain of events stop Order 66 from happening?
