Unless Coleander is pitching we're in trouble.

Been discussing this with some folks ... keeping Cole next year is the most important thing we can do, IMO. That said, I'd sell Correa, Greinke, and Springer to afford Cole.

Correa's home run in the 11th inning was the first walk-off homer against the Yankees in the playoffs since David Ortiz's 12th-inning big fly to end Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS, in which the Red Sox rallied to win the pennant after falling into a 3-0 series hole.

Correa became the seventh player with multiple walk-off hits in his postseason career. Not only that, but he now has two walk-off hits against the Yankees in the postseason -- he hit a walk-off double to beat the Yanks in Game 2 of the 2017 ALCS as well. The only other player with multiple walk-off hits against the same team in the postseason is Ortiz, who had a walk-off single in the 14th inning against New York in Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS -- the night after his walk-off homer.

The Astros now have nine walk-off wins in the postseason in their franchise history, tied with the Cardinals and Braves for third most. The only teams with more are the Yankees (23) and Red Sox (12).

Correa's homer was the Astros' fourth walk-off home run in their postseason history, tied for third with the Cardinals. The only teams with more are the Yanks (12) and Red Sox (5).

The walk-off homer was the fifth that the Yankees have yielded in the postseason, tying the Red Sox for the most walk-off home runs allowed all-time.

Earlier in the game, Correa made a key play to get DJ LeMahieu at home plate as he tried to score on a Brett Gardner single with the score tied at 2. Correa's throw was clocked by Statcast at 87 mph. That's nothing new for Correa, who had an average arm strength on his max-effort (top 10 percent) throws this season of 88.8 mph, which was second among infielders who had a minimum of 10 max-effort throws.

lol, you guys ... I still think Correa is going to demand more $ than he's worth/the injury risk. If he's not injured he's great, but that's a big if these days.

I'll reiterate, I literally love George Springer, but the thought of losing Cole in the rotation is more daunting than losing Springer at the plate.

But this is all just like my opinion, man.

Bot are 30 years old. Difference is one is a pitcher that has a very high probability of seeing a steady taper off of his physical capabilities and the other is an outfielder that still has a huge component of his career yet to go through. Barring injury for either of course.

Odds are Cole has a handful (2-3) of good years left as a dominant power pitcher. You don't sell a long term guy for that short term prospect. You just don't. Make what deal you can offer to Cole this year to try to keep him - but a pitcher that doesn't have a quality staff around him isn't going to stick around either, because you just took away 90% of the reason why teams make the post season if you sell off Springer and the rest of the fielding crew like you are advocating.

No, Cole just turned 29. He's got a lot more than 2-3 years of dominance ahead of him. Think more like 6 or 7.

I don't think we will win the Cole sweepstakes next year anywat, because Yankee money will be thrown around and that's not our way. But to say we shouldn't try to make sure we keep an outfielder doesn't make sense. Springer's great and a local hero, but he's not a Trout or Harper that is the centerpiece of your club. I would also expect that Springer's production wanes before Cole's.

I kind of feel dumb saying something like this...but Springer is the heart of the team. They're not getting rid of him. The team goes as he goes. It probably won't make sense to pay Cole the kind of money he'll demand. And yes, most power pitchers start to break down in their 30s. Not that he won't be very good...but it's not likely he'll be THIS dominant for many more years.

cole plays every 5 days. springer/correa play basically every day. you don't choose the pitcher over everyday great players

Correa is too much of an injury risk.

As for Cole, I can't help but think of Johan Santana when watching him pitch. He's a little bigger (height and weight) but when he's on it's ridiculous watching hitters go after his pitches. Cole at this point in his career is about where Santana was at the end of his tenure with Minnesota. Both are/were incredibly valuable to their teams and do not have/had an injury history. Both have pretty similar career earnings up to this point. But Santana made 275% more the last four years of his career than he did the first 8. His performance was pretty much there, but only when healthy. The Mets ended up buying him out.

So basically, would you take Santana's Mets career, knowing that you are going to have to let a couple guys go? On the plus side you might get a no-hitter. On the downside is a mid season breakdown, probably during a playoff push.

The Angels pay Mike Trout $35M a year and won 72 games. The Phillies paid Harper $25M and won 81 games. Neither had a pitcher win more than 12 games.

Yankees may want an even trade:

Whichever one loses has to run topless around the bases at the other team's park.
I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... the dang (sc) goalie never knew what the hell hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'
