Right, what Taubman did was incredibly stupid and wrong and the Astros made it worse by acting like SI had story wrong.

Would they have fired him if Astros were up 2-0?

Did he cheer for domestic violence? No, you say? Then firing him was a gutless move to appease some SJW. I'd go so far to argue that even making a joke about domestic violence, while tasteless and depending on the audience, reckless, also does not rise to the level of firing offense for an assistant GM.

Actual, verified domestic violence (and not a he said/she said) should be a fireable offense for any member of the organization. Which as was already pointed out, apparently didn't bother the Astros enough to not to make the trade.

In just about ANY job, if you are an expendable employee and you embarrass your employer in what is supposed to be a celebratory moment, then tell them a false story that leads to your employer issuing an idiotic response, you are going to get canned.
