MaroonOut you tried the memory mod yet? If it worked, that'd be awesome. My computer can run Skyrim okay, but it's right on the cusp of being able to run it perfectly. If the memory mod helped, that'd be badass.

Is it just me or does magicka regenerate much more slowly when in combat than when not? I have over 150% magicka regen on my gear and it fills up super fast when I'm not fightning, and crawls back during combat.
I noticed that when you are actively using/holding/charging a spell, magic doesn't regenerate. that might have something to do with it.
True, it halts magicka regen completely if you queue up a spell on your hands. I'm talking about if I run behind a pillar and wait to hide during combat, it seems like bone stock regen rates as if I had no gear on. As soon as I kill the baddy, my magicka instantly fills back up.
Magicka regenerates at 1/3 of normal rate while in combat, or conversely I suspect, the intention is that it regenerates 3 times as fast when not in combat.
I think it may be a bug. Hopefully it gets patched soon.

I'd guess it's intentional. A pure destruction build with lots of regen gear is already overpowered.
I would guess that your regen gear is providing the amount of magicka regen you are getting in combat, when not in combat that is added to by a standard regen rate. That is the way it works in every MMO that uses that kind of resource system.
Alternatively, I may nix magicka regen and just opt to make 4 pieces of gear with 25% reduction in cost to cast destruction spells and have infinite magicka to work with in a fight.
I need massive +x bonus to magic and regen. Conjuration costs a ton.

I put the absorbs magicka enchant on my sword. Just started messing with it. I'm a one handed sword, and destruction caster, with light armor.
So I can hit them with destruction and then if they don't die by the time they close on me, I wack them with the sword and my magicka gets regened. Still messing around with the idea, but not bad so far.

John, I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but everything I've read said it definitely helps the game run more smoothly. I'll get back to you with some first hand results once I get a chance.

And how much damage does a bound weapon do?
I've been playing around with the idea of using a bound sword and a ward spell as a kind of magical sword and shield, but from what I can tell the lesser ward spell doesn't stop much (and it drains your magika quick). I just hate running around in robes and then having to bust out a shield, it is just so out of place, but I have to have something to keep the hard charging bad guys off of me long enough for me to cast a spell.

Was serious. Everything I've read online has said that the 25% reduction (and any other bonuses for that matter) stack and don't work on diminishing returns.
i.e. I get
25% + 25% + 25% +25% = 100%
Not
(100 x .25) = 25%
(75 x .25) = 18.75%
(56.25 x .25) = 14.06%
(42.19 x .25) = 10.54%
For a total of 68.35% reduction.
Haven't tested myself, so don't know for certain.
They do stack. Are items available that give you 25% reduction? My understanding is that you need 100% enchanting and 6 perks to get 25% cost reduction.

If it's like other TES games, the effects stack. In Morrowind I had several items enchanted with Chameleon so that I got to 100% continuous Invisibility. The biggest drawback with that was that it was almost impossible to talk to NPCs.

To add to the conversation about magicka % reduction...aren't there perks in the skill tree that allow you to cast the spells for less, like 25%? So you wouldn't necessarily need 4 pieces of enchanted equipment, if you want to leave some pieces open for other enchantments.

I was doing a quest for the Thieves Guild that involved a meadery and I ran into some fire throwing nut job. It took a few tries to get him killed. I ended up just going in close and constantly slashing with an Elven steel sword. He wouldn't use his fire if I was too close.

Throw a shock enchant on the sword and stock up on resist magic potions.... Should help

This is generally how these games work.
Do any of you know if your followers can catch diseases? Google wasn't any help. Lydia just took on a nest of vampires and I want to make sure she didn't get infected. I don't think there's anywhere to check your followers stats/effects.
Has anyone tried any of the mods out yet? I need to get the 4gb RAM one and I was looking at some of the texture patches...quite a few of those. My only beef with this game so far. Total console port. Any suggestions out there?

Finally got one of my maces enchanted with soul trap... fight a dragon... switch to my soul trap mace when it's almost dead and WHAM... resist soul drap, booooo!
What size soul gem do you have to have for a dragon?
I had a dagger with the soul trap enchantment on it, when something is about to die I equip it in my left hand. That seems to work pretty well.

I don't quite understand the soul gem thing either. do you have to have ash empty soul gem in your inventory our its one created with soup trap?
You have to have an empty soul gem or ashuras star. If you kill a non human creature who has soul trap active on them their soul fills one of your soul gems. If you have black soul gems humanoid souls can trap those.
