Dak has lost to more good teams than he's beaten in January throughout his career.

Nearly every QB in history, including nearly all HOF QBs, have career losing records against teams that finish the season with winning records. Moreover, about half of all HOF QBs have .500 or worse records in the playoffs.

Shhh don't you know that doesn't fit the Dak hater narrative…

A lot of it's due to ESPN hot takes, but it's amazing how many "fans" don't even research **** like this and just take it as gospel that it means Dak sucks.

That's not a decline. That's the answer you give when you want a potential out either way. He can point to that statement as proof he's staying in boulder or point to it and say, "I do love Colorado, but I never said I was staying"

I wonder why a coach would not want to go there. What could it be.

Hmm

You sure about that one. In the statement he is kissing Jerry's ass. So he knows how to play this game with this owner.

Who would the Cowboys need to give up to get Shadeur? Dak? Micah? Ceedee? Stephen?
Shadeur is locked into a top 10 pick and we're at 12, so I doubt we'd have to trade any players, but you would have to trade next years first plus some other picks to move up. With that being said, Dak isn't going anywhere for 25 and probably 26. If you trade Dak Pre-June 1 you're looking at almost a 105 million dollar dead cap hit. Post-June 1 that number goes down to the mid 40's but goes back up in 2026 to 62. Dak likely isn't going anywhere.

After 30 years of failure for this team, I'm down for anything other than another Jerry "Yes Man".

Hire Deion, trade Dak, draft Shadeur, whatever … try something different!

Listening to the local radio this morning. Sounds like Deion is not a likely option and more click bait/ publicity stunt. Most close to the team seem to think Moore is the front runner.

Who is closest to Jason Garrett in personality and acceptance? Because that's who Jerry loved as his head coach….anyone besides Kellen Moore or Kliff Kingsbury will shock me…and to the Dak apologists, losing big games always wasn't as painful when he wasn't the highest paid player in the league. Good luck with all that.

Dak is a $45 million quarterback that is the highest paid player in the league.

Dak is definitely overpaid for his talent level. I still think he's one of the top half of QB's in the league. At least prior to this latest injury. I don't think he is a guy you can put the game completely on his shoulders to go win by himself.

Jerry being an idiot with the checkbook is a separate discussion from Dak's playmaking ability.

Top half QBs get paid stupid $$$. That's just the way it is. Being the highest paid mostly just means they were the most recent to sign a new deal out of that group

I didn't get a chance to watch last night's game so I can't talk about the specifics...

But the final result of that game just reeks of what Dallas has dealt with for 2 decades. Great season in which everybody is praising the coaches, the QB, the defense... And it just falls apart in the playoffs.

I saw an interview with a former NFL player the other day, and they were talking about how absurd and out of tune the QB market is compared to the rest of the league. They also were pretty serious in suggesting that it needs to get fixed, because QBs like Trevor Lawrence are getting paid 55 million a year to suck or be average, while you have players like Myles Garrett or TJ Watt making 25-30 million who play premium positions, are 10x more impactful and are all around better players. Essentially they were advocating for the money being spread around more, and I can't say I disagree. There are maybe 7 QBs in the NFL who are worth 50+ a year, that's it, yet it just continues to go up and up and up.

Was hoping they'd bring Glenn and Freeman in for that
listening to 105.3 this morning, they mentioned that the conversation with Prime would not meet the Rooney Rule. They said it would have to be a formal interview, where they notified the league beforehand. They said the Prime/Jerry conversation was basically just a casual conversation about the job....so there is still hope for Glenn and Freeman...i personally want them to kick the tires thoroughly on Aaron Glenn.

Look at the movement in spread when a player like Myles Garrett is out vs a mid-tier QB.

The spread moves much more dramatically when a QB is out compared to a defensive lineman.

QB is the needle mover and will always be paid differently than other positions.

Yeah, we'll see if they do anything, but at this point, it is simply a reflection of the impact that competent QBing has on a team's success. You absolutely must have it or you will suck ass. Period. No other position is like that.

this. As much as we love Myles here, he just doesn't have the impact a quality QB has on his teams success. And he's one of the best at his position the last couple of decades. If it were diff, Myles would lead the Browns to playoff success. They don't because they suck at QB.

Absolutely correct. I'd say this is intentional, because the NFL never calls holding on passing downs. All the best pass rushers get tripped, grabbed, and tackled dozens of times per game without a call to protect QBs. If they called holding appropriately and consistently, players like Garrett and Parsons would dominate the league more than any QB

I get the argument. I still think it's stupid. Dak made around 14 mil in endorsement deals this year alone with essentially never winning anything of importance in his career. Thats basically the current baseline of the money you will make as a Dallas Cowboys QB. If you are a Super Bowl winning Cowboys QB, that number starts going up up up. Take the pay cut from the organization, invest it in your O-line, stop getting your knees torn up and allow a better running game to support your play. Never pay big money for an RB that can't catch. Even then, don't pay them big.

Dak should spend his money on a hypnotist to help him stop wetting himself when the lights get bright.

I think they should decouple QB salaries from the cap. Probably decrease the overall cap a bit but it would increase the overall pool for the other positions.

Of course, this would likely mean the next most premium position becomes absurdly overpaid relatively. And I'm not sure how you'd implement this without pissing off a handful of teams.

Maybe a QB cap within the cap. Something like "only" 20% of annual cap can go to QBs

I sometimes think this time of year wouldn't always be the offseason if it wasn't for Dak.
I really like the guy as a person and I think he's a stand up kind of guy but, man, I'm starting to seriously doubt he can take the team to the promised land.

It's a good thought, but that doesn't work because any halfway decent QB would be making the max. You'd have Mahomes and guys like Kirk Cousins making the same money. The players union would NEVER go for that.

And the thought about QBs just taking less so that the team can pay more players... also a good thought, but it falls apart as soon as the team doesn't use the "savings" wisely. Might as well make the QB part GM so that he can dictate where the extra money goes in that scenario.

The fact remains that there are a few teams out there that have not had a legit franchise QB in 2+ decades... if you are a top 15 QB you are going to get paid!

My benchmark for whether a QB can take a team to the promised land is Rex Grossman. I think Dak is better than Rex Grossman.

Very true. Just look at Trent Dilfer. But then again the Ravens defense was stout as hell.

Yup. Dak is just an all-time great defense away from being able advance past the divisional round
