The Giants are the only team I see us beating, maybe. Even the Panthers are better than us.
The Cowboys inability to run the ball is this teams biggest issue at the moment that doesn't have an answer. We know the run defense is terrible; it has been for half a decade now and will only get fixed by spending money and draft capital, but the o line I've got no clue. Dowdle stinks and we have no one worth a damn at RB, but you don't run the ball as poorly as we do without other problems.
The rest of this season needs to be spent improving Guyton and Beebe, and figuring out what you have behind the starting five. I'd like to see them walk away from Steele, but if Martin retires (which he should) do you really want to replace your entire right side of the line again?

First round pick should be the running back from Boise State (Jeanty) who is a Texas kid I believe, they have problems everywhere because Jerry Jones is not a GM he doesn't know how to put a team together.

Wouldn't surprise me to see them draft a true LT (LSU kid or the sip) and move Guyton to RT. Then cut Steele.

No first round running backs, especially fora team picking as high as we will with as many needs as we have.
QB, tackle, receiver, pass rusher and boundary corner are the only positions that normally carry enough value to warrant top 10 selections. If you're picking any other position in the top 10 the player needs to be either a general talent at the position, or you need to be 1-2 players away from a championship. Dallas needs to be looking at guys like Banks, Campbell, Pierce, Abdul-Carter and Johnson. If they keep losing and have a top 3 pick then you take Travis Hunter if he's there because he's as sure as thing as there is in the draft. If Cam Ward is there and you aren't gonna trade down, I would seriously consider it given Dak is basically on a deal that allows him to be released after 2026 with a manageable hit. And I like Dak, but Ward has "it".
There's just too many good backs in rounds 2-4 to use a top 10 pick on one.

Nah, Jerry is clearly in a very dark place. Even during the awful Campo years he wasn't like this. He knows his years are numbered and he's got at most one more new coach rebuild before his chances at another ring run out.

If they do end up with a top five pick in the draft, this feels like the most likely scenario. I want Hunter, but he's not falling out of the top three, and is probably the odds on favorite to be the first pick. Taking Banks would give you three first round picks on the O-line in four years, give you book-end tackles for the next decade, and allows you to protect your aging/increasingly fragile QB.Infection_Ag11 said:Vince Blake said:

ETA: I don't know who's looked at mock drafts a lot recently, but a lot of drafts have Nic Scourton going between picks five and fifteen, and then Shemar Stewart going at the end of the first round.

This season will be the least amount of cowboys I've watched in i don't know how long. I flipped it over just in time to see the DT run in the fumble for Houston. Just awful football right now.

The wife and I watched a movie, and i went to bed early. There is nothing fun or entertaining about watching this dumpster fire of a team, so if something else more interesting comes up then I will choose not to watch the game. Honestly, the Thanksgiving game is probably the only one I for sure will watch the rest of the season. I've never ever done that in the past.

I could be way off here because I don't study Scourton on a play by play basis, but I'm not sure I like him enough to take in the top half of the 1st round. Late teens or 20's feels about right. Stewart might go very end of round 1, but feels more like an early day 2 pick to me.

I was in and out and then the fumble/fumble ended it for me. Figured I'd watch the new HBO Dune series
Cowboys best hope is to get into the top 3 and pray that there is a QB that somebody will give up a fortune to come get. Then again, Jerry is one of the WORST GMs of all time when it comes to trading picks/players, so even in that scenario we'd be lucky to even get back the 4th rounder we threw away like garbage.
Our only hope is that Jerry hires the right coach and he comes in here like Jimmy Johnson circa 1989 and everything he touches turns to gold. Every pick, every free agent. I have zero expectations for anything improving while Jerry is around. He doesn't want to just win. He wants to win "his way." He also doesn't care as much about the performance of the team as any of us. He constantly references the "most valuable sports team in the world" and all the events at JerryWorld every time someone says he is doing a bad job. Sure he'd rather be winning, but as long as he has all those other feathers in his hat he'll never admit he's the problem

With regards to potentially having a top 5 pick... yeah, I think I like the above ideas of getting a franchise LT and moving Guyton over to RT.
There really isn't much you can do about the interior D-line early in round 1 unless you know for an absolute fact that there is the next Aaron Donald sitting there (pretty sure there isn't).
I think this offense can be fixed right away with a new HC and a couple player acquisitions (draft or free agent). I think it will take a couple years to fix the defense. Gotta load up on some DTs and we need a Stud/Young Middle LB. With guys like Diggs, Overshown, Parsons, we have some of the big pieces in place, but we need to completely rebuild the middle and that will take at least 2 draft cycles.
