I hope they don't leave threads of the story hanging so long that we forget about them. For example, I almost forgot about the smoke monster thing. Where the hell has that been?
During Hurricane Rita, my wife and I watched the whole first season so it's all fresh in my head.

I am starting to get a little annoyed with people who think the next episode is going to explain everything. Like a previous poster said, with the success of the show, I don't expect final answers for YEARS.

anyone notice Jack staring at the picture of Desmond and a lady in the hatch. He looked at it for a long time and then immediately left the hatch to go after Desmond. Wonder if he recognized the lady in the photo?
Also -- I'm convinced that there was additional information in the orientation reel that we didn't see. Whether it was edited or just old or what... it definitely skipped over parts.

What is Dharma?
"Dharma" means "protection". By practising Buddha's teachings we protect ourself from suffering and problems. All the problems we experience during daily life originate in ignorance, and the method for eliminating ignorance is to practise Dharma.
Practising Dharma is the supreme method for improving the quality of our human life. The quality of life depends not upon external development or material progress, but upon the inner development of peace and happiness. For example, in the past many Buddhists lived in poor and underdeveloped countries, but they were able to find pure, lasting happiness by practising what Buddha had taught.
If we integrate Buddha's teachings into our daily life, we will be able to solve all our inner problems and attain a truly peaceful mind. Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. If we first establish peace within our minds by training in spiritual paths, outer peace will come naturally; but if we do not, world peace will never be achieved, no matter how many people campaign for it.

Agreed. Not only that, but I don't want final answers for years. I'm really digging the vagueness of this show. The longer they hold back on final answers, the longer the show stays on the air. And that would be just fine with me.
Locke was so adament to watch the reel again, I think it was the producers way of telling the audience to focus on the video, that there was something hidden.

I wonder if there is a correlation between Lost on wednesday nights, and work productivity on Thursdays being nothing. I spend all damn day on those website reading what other people think is going on.
Did anyone else think that the symbol that is on everything in the hatch, on Desmond's jumpsuit and on the shark looks like a feng shui compass with the swan in the middle?
Is Desmond Sara's (Jack's wife) old boyfriend? We don't know that Jack ever met him. He was talked about, but we never saw him.

Jack met with Sara's fiance to tell him that Sara might need long term care, and the fiance pretty much bailed. That wasn't Desmond, and it can't be a sibling since I'd assume they'd have been at the wedding.

I think it was more of a friendly jab at the crazy fans. The producers joke about how people will tivo the show and watch it over and over so they've started throwing in things that while slightly meaningful, are basically throway inserts for the tivo people.
I've read on some other websites that people think the girl in the picture with Desmond is Sara (Jack's wife). In the picture, it's really hard to tell who exactly the girl is. Well, some one took the picture and lightened it and this is what you get...

And what about the guy who was there before Desmond, Kelvin? If that station 3 was supposed to be a 2 person job, why was Kelvin there alone? I assume he was since he managed to recruit Desmond into the button pushing scheme. And if Desmond wasn't part of the Dharma group and really was on some race around the world, how in the hell did this Kelvin guy convince Desmond to stick around with him in this hatch and push a button every 108 minutes?

He was intently curious about Jack's patient (who awoke after surgery smelling a curious smell), and then Locke awoke on the beach (curiously sniffing something) and able to stand up and walk, and then Desmond sees Locke and asks him if "he's the one." Maybe Desmond himself is a paraplegic and the formula that he's been taking is part of "something" that reverses or cures it. Which also brings up why he continues to need it everyday and Locke does not.

What's really innovative here is the producers' use of multiple mediums to drive interest in the show, and not just the web. I remember reading an interview last year when a producer was so psyched about his "first Tivo moment" when viewers caught Hurley on TV in the Korean kid's living room. Now, they're deliberately writing and directing this show for Tivo users. Some of it is to yank our chain, IMHO, but most of it's legit.
