No way Walt is in charge, though I think it is highly likely that he is some sort of "chosen one", and taken from the group like some of the other children seen during an earlier march for some special purpose.

I think it's all a set-up. The Others let him go knowing he'd lead the Losties back and I think something BAD is going to happen.

The Others supposedly have some sort of super-human strentgh -- Ethan, Goodwin.. and the preview shows Henry going after Ana-Lucia... I don't think they need weapons.

I agree, but think it's more of Michael not being of the right mind. Whether due to brain washing (by others or the island warping his mind in the way that Russeau said her companions were) or him being told that if he delivers Jack, etc. that Walt will be freed.

this show is starting to lose me.

i agree, i think it is a set up of some sort.

I also think that Michael was their trade. The others heard Jack, and Michael was their trade for Henry.

the whole "healing" powers of the island turned Jin's boys into swimmers again.

and i think the Michael deal is a setup.

Okay how 'bout this:

The Dharma group/governement agency started doing experiments on this island, which they knew had special powers, to perfect a weapon. The Island made some people stronger, some smarter, increased psycic abilities, etc. in those that 'jive' with the island. Other people don't connect with the island and go nuts like French chick's buddies.
The government hand selected the others and the Losties because of certain 'skills' they had. Some of the others are part of the experiment and some are working with the gov't. It's a giant military project to perfect a human weapon. That's why that want Walt. If they can get this kid to make things happen just by thinking it imagine what they could do if they harness that power.

Also, "Henry" wasn't captured but was sent in as a spy to see how the Losties were coping and to see how controlling the button has become. Note the huge grin on Henry's face when Locke pounds on the door asking about the button. Henry knows exactly what is going on and holds all the cards.

oh, can I say that while Jack has been pretty annoying lately I am glad he and Kate made a little progress...with the whole him not being sorry she kissed him comment.

Not necessarily, especially when she hasn't been eating much on the island. Lots of women don't show much that early.

I'm not saying it's not possible that she got pregnant on the island, it could be true. I just find it unlikely that she and Jin were knocking boots before he left on the raft when they weren't even speaking. He's only been back a week or two, right? She got pregnant right away and right away had symptoms?

I think the writers left that ambiguous for a reason.

I also think tonight was a nod to the nerds like me clamoring for a Rose/Bernard story.

Nope. My wife was pregnant with twins and didn’t start to show until midway through month 3. And her and Jinn could have gotten it on BEFORE they started fighting. There was a week or two in there before they really became part of the story. Also, how long has he been back from his raft trip. It’s been several weeks. I’m betting they “got it on” that day he got back so that’s plenty of time for her to get pregnant and start feeling sick.

The only way out was through the door where Locke was pinned. Remember, the computer room is behind the living area. The only way out is through the living area (where Locke was trapped), or out the “hatch” that Locke blew open. That way requires an accent of 50-feet with a rope b/c the ladder is broken. He could not go that way.

I suppose he could have tried to run past Locke, but at that point he was still trying to prove he was trapped like them so why blow the charade? At that point he had Locke’s trust and had no reason to believe Saied would dig up the body and find the real Henry Gales’ ID.

I don’t buy the gov. selection thing. They were in a PLANE CRASH!! There is no way to predict who will/won’t survive or specifically select those who will. Besides which it would suck if this were some big gov. experiment where they brainwashed the survivors, and killed the others on the plane just for an experiment.

I herd on the radio yesterday that the company name on Jin’s pregnancy test, on Henry Gale’s balloon and the construction company’s name in the background of scene (in the first season) where Shannon and her brother consummated their love for each other is the same. Can anyone verify this?

yes on preg. test and billboard. I don't remember anything on the balloon, but its possible.

They don't need to trade for Jack, they could've already had him. It's possible it's a setup to get their guns, though.

Alright, I was just now saw the episode from this past week and have a question that may be unrelated. Was there any significance to the doll that sprung the trap on Jack and Kate, and had we seen it before? I was just trying to figure out who it was that set it up.

thats a good question. I rmemeber when the tail section people were making their way back with JIn,saywer and micheal they had to hide at one point as the "others " walked by. There was a child dragging a doll along with her. was it the same doll?

I thought the kid with the others had a Teddy Bear....

I think that it was used by Rouseau to try and catch another "other". It probably did belong to Alex. I don't think it was the same bear that one of the children was carrying...for some reason I thought it was different.

It was probably an old trap that was set to try and catch her kid (or any kid in order to trade for her child).

I don't think this has been mentioned, but when Rose went to see the "healer", they foceused in on a thank you note written by a child. They signature was illegible though.

That link is interesting but how did the plane end up west of Australia to land on point 42. I just don't see how you could start out heading northeast and end up northwest of the continent, pretty far stretch. Then again, I guess so are polar bears and giant security system dinosaurs!

i'm thinking it was an island set up for developing and testing new diseases. they banked on the fact that the extra large and powerful magnetic field created by the machine they built would kill what ever disease they had released. however, the magnetic field also affected other things they were not prepared for. healing powers, strengthening powers, dellusions, etc. and so they bailed and left the people there. however, the people got addicted to what the island did to them, and refuse to leave (kind of like rose) or let anyone leave who can lead society back to them.

I think there's more to this island than only an extra strong magnetic field.

That doesn't explain the repeated apperance (and almost religious status) of the numbers and Walt's psychic abilities.

That's definitely part of it of the story, but I don't think a single physical attribute comprises the island's mystical powers.

In the first walt flashback didnt something happen with him and a bird and the bird killing himself by flying into a window or something? anyone know what actually went on and if anything usefull was said perhaps? i dont have season 1
