I agree that Kelvin's dead.

So, obviously henry knew about the button really being important b/c he pushed it. Why he decided to mess with Locke's head and tell him he didn't push it, and risk the island being destroyed is beyond me. now (for all we know) the giant magnet is destroyed and there's no reason for anyone to be stuck in the hatch. looks like next season will focus around what the others will do with jack and crew, and the search for the island.

what happens after that?

I wouldn't be too terribly worried that the future isn't easily forseeable. Could any of us have thought of the plotlines they've been working with to this point? I think not. And I think that will continue.

Several random things:

Is LOST reminding anyone of the Leonardo DiCaprio movie the Island? I mean the "you stay on your side of this place" stuff is getting annoying.

Also, head wounds bleed a lot...and I mean A LOT. It is possible that Kelvin is not dead and was just knocked out and decided never to go back to the hatch after being assaulted.

Regarding the magnetic field and not pushing the button being the reason that the plane crashed and it being purposeful vs accident: I go back and forth. There is no way that the timing of the button pushes can be strictly timed with airline routes..sometimes the button is pushed with 4 minutes remaining, sometimes 2, sometimes 3...so it is probable that over a period of time the button pushing timing has rotated off its original count hours. Unless, of course, the countdown clock doesn't reset or count time correctly.

The 3-toed statue reminds me of a statue installed by Stanley Marsh on I-27 south of Amarillo, affectionately called 2 calves in a field. It is two legs, one just past the knee and one below it (if I remember correctly). Not anything of importance, just interesting. Wish I could see a shot of it here.

And, last but not least, I haven't seen the most important thing discussed here yet....what happens to Vincent? First Walt disappears, then Shannon and now Sun who was taking care of him. Does no one care about Vincent?

Vincent was in the episode before the finale.

And Sun isn't gone. They took what amounts to a day trip to the other side of the island. Presumably, they will make it back.

I know we've talked a little about the names of some of the characters, but how about this analysis. Both Desmond and Odyesseus's GF/Wife was named Penelope. In the Odyessey, Penelope had 108 suiters, the clock counts down 108 minutes, and both of their GF/Wife said that they would wait for them forever. What all does this mean? Probably not a darn thing!

Wow, that is kinda trippy. And the reason Desmond hasn't returned to her is because he gets waylaid at sea.

I wonder if Desmond has a dog that will die upon his return.

First of all, are we to believe that Desmond ran to the hatch, missed pushing the, had a system failure and never left the hatch again to check on his boat? Maybe I am forgetting something they told us but I would think it's safe to assume that Desmond made at least one trip back over to his boat to check it out. I doubt he just decided to hole himself up again and let the birds sort out Inman's fate. I also imagine that with the way they were going to try and remove Claire's baby that their "doctors" may not be advanced enough, or have the right tools to fix such a serious headwound. Kelvin Inman is dead. The better question to ask right now is why Desmond cared so much about his pride when that girl is so pretty. What a freaking idiot. Take the money and go hide yourself under a psuedonym in Canada. Nobody goes up there to look for stuff.

One thing about this show is that you can't assume anything. Simple thing is we don't know for sure whether Kelvin is dead or not. My opinion: He's dead... but we haven't been given any substantive evidence either way. If, in next season, Desmond goes back to the shore and buries Kelvin's body... that would be pretty telling. But we haven't seen him do that... and knowing this show, it could be just as likely that Desmond goes out to bury Kelvin and finds the body missing... you know, kind of like Jack's dad.

He barely had time to walk over to where he could SEE his boat (and it was still in the water at least 1/2-mile walk then 100-yard swim away) and then RUN back to the hatch to push the button.

How do you figure he had time to go check on his boat and get back in 108-minutes?

Is there not the possibility that Rose's cancer and Locke's paralysis will return since the magnet was destroyed...assuming this is what cured them?

Also, Walt's psychic powers were never full addressed. I don't think we have seen the last of Michael and Walt.

I am beyond tired of Locke's routine. He was born to be duped. He should pull a Costanza and just do the opposite of what he thinks is right.

Has anyone came up with the idea that the reason why Desmond has been found is that when the hatch exploded and the magnetic field was disrupted, his GPS locator on his boat was then able to send it's signal to a satellite?

Ok, so I finally got around to seeing the finale tonight, and it was a great episode. Some thoughts after seeing it and reading replies on here. After I saw the stone foot, the Colossus of Rhodes was the first thing that popped in my head. Someone earlier replied that such a statue couldn't be made entirely of stone, but yet it's been done in the past.

I love the connection between Odysseus, Penelope, and Desmond and Penelope. The writers of Lost really seem to love their mythology don't they?

And about Kelvin, I'm not really sure which way to go with him. Most people on here seem to want to believe that he's dead, but trust me, head wounds bleed an AWFUL lot and the person can still be just fine. I've seen it time in and time out. I wouldn't discount him just yet.

The one thing that I know for sure is that I really really don't want to have to wait until fall to see how any of this turns out.
