I think you guys have ruined Imdb for me.

Sorry. It's still worth checking out, just take a little grain of salt with you when you go.

Okay, I scoured last night's repeat for a Libby spotting and no dice, at least in that flashback. I think there's something to that theory.

BUT, it did strike me that Leonard warned Hurley that by using the numbers he had 'opened the box' and now it would never stop. That line had a different meaning to me now with the whole hatch Skinner box.

Yep, that explain's why Hurley freaked out so bad when he saw the numbers on the hatch.

Anybody know if next week's episode is supposed to be new? As Tom Petty said, "The waitin' is the hardest part."

It is supposed to be new.

Excellent!

I just found this synopsis at http://www.tv.com/lost/the-long-con/episode/583658/summary.html:
Feb. 8 episode, "The Long Con:" Survivors fear that "The Others" may have returned when Sun is injured during a failed kidnapping attempt. Meanwhile, Sawyer is an amused but highly interested bystander when tension escalates between Jack, Locke, Kate and Ana Lucia.

SPOILER ALERT

US Weekly is reporting that Michelle Rodriguez is being let go and they will kill her character off at some point, soon. Apparently, she's been acting like too much of a diva on set and everyone is sick of it. This is great news.

You may want to put a spoiler alert on that Buffy.

Michelle Rodriguez is also very likely to be going to jail soon and that could be the cause of it.

At least that is what they said on the radio here in Dallas

I take some of the off-set rumors about the cast with a grain of salt. I think the producers are planting some misdirections, such as the big deal they made over the summer on how the actress that plays Rose was moving back to California, and how Maggie Grace (Shannon) had just bought a big house in Hawaii.

On another topic, what was the name of the guy that left Desmond in the hatch? You don't think that's Leonard by any chance, and why he went nuts over the numbers?

I was thinking, and if that blonde chick was indeed also in the same Psych ward with Hurley(either as psychologist or patient), it could be huge as the psych ward is where Hurley heard the numbers. There is a connection right there as to why she is also on the island.

I just had a huge thought hit me - what if it turns out that all of these people are actually in a psych ward and are simply sharing one HUGE group delusion!!!

Do you think that at the end of the last episode, they'll pan out and you will see Honolulu on the other side of the island? You know, kinda like the end of Blazing Saddles.
AgKJ
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I don't know about that, but what a show. I never saw a single episode until two weeks ago, but wife and I rented the Season 1 DVD and got hooked, then I had all of Season 2 on Tivo.

We have been like junkies catching up. We watch one and then go straight into the next one.
We actually weren't looking forward to catching up becase we knew we'd have to start waiting for the next episode like the rest of you poor saps - ha. Now we're all caught up and it does suck to have to wait.

Just skimming some of these posts, though, it is obvious that I am not watching this show closely enough. I never would have caught all the little subtle things. Wow.

Your idea was shared by thousands of people on the internet before the first episode even aired and was consequently shot down by the producers.

The imdb forums have turned us all into jaded asses. EVERY week there will be at least 10 new threads with someone who "figures out" what's going on. That's 10 threads that it's all in someone's head. 10 that it's a shared hallucination. 10 that they're in purgatory.

Sorry if my crumudggeonness (if that's not a word it should be) has spread here.

I will agree that sometimes even Texags feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the imdb.com forums.

Here's my .02 - I think Kate and Sawyer are going to pull the HOLY-****-WE'RE-RELATED card. Tonight's eppy is Sawyer centric, but Kate's mom is in it. Too easy.

You heard it here first!
JBRAG
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Didn't Sawyer's dad kill his mom and then himself? Kate's mom was a truck stop waitress and she killed her real dad.

***Potential spoilers for those not caught up***

That just reminds me of an interesting thing. Back in the episode where we learn "what Kate did". There's a conversation between her and her "real" dad that goes something like this:

Kate: "You knew he wasn't my real father, why didn't you kill him?"

Kate's dad: "Because I didn't have murder in my heart."

Alot of the people on the island seem to have or have had murder in their hearts at one time or another. Jack has probably lost a lot of patients but his most glaring example is euthanizing the Marshall after Sawyers failed attempt. We know that Sawyer, Kate, Sayid, Ana Lucia and Eko have all killed people in cold blood. Eko and Charlie have also killed Others.

Those with intent to kill include Shannon who was going to kill Locke over the death of Boone, Michael over the abduction of Walt, and very possibly Locke over what his father did to him.

Unknowns for me at this point are Jin, Sun, Claire and Hugo.
AgKJ
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No offense, but so what? All this tells me is that they are people.

One of the biggest themes of this show is how all the characters are inter-related. To me that makes it pretty relevant.

AgKJ
How long do you want to ignore this user?
But you're picking a trait that really isn't that unusual (to me). It's like saying they all have been seen drinking water.

If they're on an island with people trying to kill them, I'd expect them to kill back. Same with euthanizing someone, protecting a chld, etc.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
yes, but only two of the people I mentioned killed hostiles on the island. Charlie and Eko.
rjhtamu
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And I guess for the overall purpose of my point, those instances aren't really what I'm talking about. I could kill in self defense or in defense of someone else. What my point is, there seems to be a disproportionate amount of people on the island together who have committed murder, killed someone in cold blood, or have wished to.

ttt for another bad episode (so far)

I thought this episode was pretty good, a little slow but pretty good. Next week looks to be very exciting!!!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The last five minutes were pretty good.

Locke is bored and getting ancy because he feels like he's at a dead end... I'm sure he feels like the island isn't talking to him anymore and that must frustrate the hell out of him.

I like Charlie as a desperate bad guy. I really wanted him to get back on the sauce, though.

I bet the whole timer going to zero promo is a Locke nightmare... it's not really going to happen mid-season like that.
rjhtamu
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Seems most people are pretty split about this episode. Some calling it the best of this season so far, others hating it for not advancing the juicy parts any.

I'm somewhere in the middle this week. I love the tensions and complexities that Sawyer's character brings, but overall I thought the episode was pretty slow with the exception of the last 15 minutes.

The previews for next week sure were interesting though.
RoyIII_Ag08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I also thought this was a good episode. I would find it hard to beleive they let the timer run out next week, but you never know. Sawyer got back into character quickly. I would be surprised if the group doesn't figure out that Sawyer must have had an accomplice.

Does anyone think there was something to Hurley saying "or anytime?" The music does sound old.
rjhtamu
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Was the music that was playing Glenn Miller? He was rumored to have died in a plane crash, although there are many stories that say otherwise now.

Oh, and a reference to another thing in the episode.

quote:
In a story called "An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge" a man is about to be hung for treason. He is hung over a bridge. Just as his neck is about to snap the rope breaks and he escapes. The book, i belive, details his miraculous escape in quite some detail. Then, right at the end, he dies. He never really escaped. His entire escape was a fantasy, intricate and amazing, that occured to him in the moment before his death. It is this book that Lock is shaking out in this weeks episode. The title of the book is shown in extreme focus.
