Maybe so... and maybe it's totally insignificant. But some part of me says otherwise. Plus, wouldn't you have expected broken bamboo in the direction from where he got thrown. I dunno. It's possible that he just got lucky and survived... but it's also possible that all the weird inter-connections surrounding the survivors are just circumstancial... although I feel like they aren't.
Another note: I noticed that Jack buckled in to his seat at the onset of turbulence. Now, like you said, these crashes defy physics... but I can't help but think there is more to this.
