TTD also missed Michonne's double kill in the bar, they got the short order cook zombie but not the blind backward thrust at the walker pursuing her. Then they credit a kill that was thinly implied?
Agreed. WTF? They missed the best zombie kill of the episode.
I loved how Morgan made the traps and trip hazzards, pretty cool idea

I just re-watched the first episode and don't think it's her. Looks similar but not the same person.
Just watched. Whichever writer penned Morgan's dialogue needs to take over as Chief Executive Penner of All Dialogue for this show. It was so good it seemed like they hired somebody just to write Morgan.
It helps that he apparently is an awesome actor.

Something about the chalkboard paint/writing scrawled on the walls plus the excellent writing reminded me a lot of Lost. Hoping for (though not necessarily expecting) more episodes like this.
No Andrea was a huge factor n this episode being good as well.
for those who are Dark Tower fans...maybe spoilers for the DT
this might a be a little crazy/dumb, but for some reason while watching the talking dead last night, i sort of had a thought that Carl, as a grown up and survivor, would be very similar to Roland. He loses the typical childhood and is surrounded by violence..."kills" his mom. He'd have an almost empty feeling about humanity. Yet there would still be a small semblance of a passionate person...someone who would cautiously take on friends, but likely not open up. Both of their worlds are crumbling/ending. Carl's would still be ending, even in his late adulthood. The world around him would regress, but there would still be signs of previous "modern" times.
Not sure why it struck a parallel, but it did last night.

you said no zombie kids and we show you now you say 2 in a million? stop moving the goal post :p I really don't think people want to think or see a child Zombie shot or killed. The two shown were for extreme shock value and I think every time we do see one it will be that out for shock value.

Iceman nails it. It is something that has to be approached with caution because, even though it is an apocalyptic world where death and chaos reign, there are lines that will be difficult to cross. Its hard to imagine viewers that are actively want to see a school bus of children getting blown away by Hershel's infinity shotgun (actually I like this idea) or something like Judith turning and eating Carols face.
I get what they were going for with the hitchhiker but how many people would pick up a random stranger in a normal world, let alone in this one?
I don't know...after hearing a few too many screaming brats at Wally World or the local grocery store over the weekend, watching a few zombie crumb snatchers get theirs might be good therapy.

One of the best episodes of the series in my opinion. The hitchhiker story was pretty dark. I loved it.

Agree Michonne's character is a lot more interesting when she shows some personality.
Her lips still freak me out.
Writing (and acting) was better in this episode then the entire history of the show. Of course only having four people in the episode - two of which who could actually act - really helped.
Michonne's line "The mat did say 'Welcome'" showed some wit that hasn't been seen AT ALL on TWD. And Morgan's entire dialog was really well done.

Did anyone catch the sign at the beginning telling someone that they were trying for a certain location and then one of the zombies that attacked the car was wearing a bracelet with the name from the sign?

true, but right now the zombies arent really a danger. other people are.
it takes a lot to become part of the in group, especially with rick, as evidenced by him running of tyrese/cutty and still giving michonne the side eye.
rick's ability to give someone the benefit of the doubt is gone. not really surprising that he didnt pick up a hitchhiker. i dont really blame him.

I saw that and it made me smile. Several clever things in this episode. As many have pointed out, zombie underneath the car, the hitchhiker backpack at the end, casually taking away dead zombies while others are impaled by boobytraps....
