Because they are on dead zombies.
And also, I thought it only covered his chest. To me, that does not provide that much protection unless it covers your limbs.
And there is no way I would take a helmet off a zombified riot guard that had his head crushed in and "exploded" inside of it. I do not care how much bleach is used, that thing is not going on my head.

Outside of Daryl and maybe Tyreese, Carl is the most efficient shooter/walker killer in the group.

1st episode back wasn't all that great. Just good to get back into it. This week's made up for it, for the most part. Glad that all the gang is back together in the prison (area).
I don't have too big a problem with Andrea as some may, but my bigger problem with her is Woodsbury and the storyline there. When the Gov'r got injured, that plot line really fell off.
Michonne is my biggest problem with the main group. She needs a change, or to get slowly written out.
I was talking with a roommate, and we both agree that the events there towards the end of this week's episode will boot Rick back up, and get him back to being a leader and not so crazed. He has a goal now: take out the Woodsbury folk.

He's going to have to live with his crazy, just like Russell Crowe did in a beautiful mind.
I think the show needs something good and cool to happen for at least one episode. No fussing or worrying... Just a bunch of cool zombie killing and the whole group is happy doing it. The reason for doing so was they got a bunch of food or something... Whatever... Just as long as the end result was lots of zombie action, nobody whines the entire episode, and somebody we don't like gets killed in a very unpleasant way.
The problem with the show now is the zombies are no longer really a threat. That was the whole point in the first place.
All they do is fight other people now (governor and his guys). Zombies just wander around and are an afterthought

Well technically, unless you were having a cast member die every other episode, the zombies are not a threat, just punching bags.
The zombies are a threat yes. A slow one and easy to defend against, but the governor is a threat to wipe them all out at once.

I kinda find it funny that through the whole woodbury firefight, the woodbury crew only managed to kill off one prison crew member. A former inmate. And that during the Prison firefight, again, the woodbury crew only managed to kill off one prison crew member. A former inmate.
Evidently they can only hit Zombies and dudes in prison jumpsuits. Looks like everyone else is safe frome here on out.

Just one of the many examples of bad writing we're supposed to accept and endure.
Probably thought this mystery hole in the fence that they cannot seem to locate but keep on talking about....
I don't know that zombies were ever really a "threat"...I mean think about it...there's really only been 2 major zombie attacks that were NOT a result of human interaction...one at the camp in season one (when Amy got bitten) and one at the farm to end season 2. The rest of the time people were eaten by zombies (minus poor Dale) was a result of the need for food (runs by Glenn, Maggies etc), shelter/security (taking the prison), or just stupid human tricks.
The major threat in a zombie world is survivial, which I'd argue that Hunger is the biggest threat of all...that leads to making supply runs, finding shelter or fighting for either. Hell, even Rick was surrounded by 1000's of zombies in Atlanta in season one and escaped...all you have to do is walk fast.
