I don't care how bad a show is, no one is switching to the grammys.

Was ghost Lori also a zombie? Looked like the portion of her face that was hidden in the shadow was a little zombish.

I'm all in on the Cutty group. Rick's group now consists of Glen (alright), Maggie (she can get it), Carol (boo), Herschel (meh), Beth (meh) and Carl (meh). Oh and weird pedo-prisoner.

I hope Cutty group becomes a major player moving forward.

I generally think you guys are too hard on this show, but that episode was truly awful. Can't blame the actors, necessarily. The dialogue was just godawful... forced and unconvincing. Not one conversation rang true.

You guys need to knock it off with the spoilers from the comic books...

Separate the four newbies and interview all of them independently. Find out if their stories match up and give them an opportunity to warn you about the others in their group.

Give them milestones to gain with additional privileges at each one. Give them a chance to earn their way into the group by showing loyalty, etc. Tyrese wants to show he's serious about being a good team member, so give him a chance to show it. If they don't, cast them out.

At least, this is what a sane leader would do when faced with new people in the group.

um do you even know what "jumping the shark" means??

last nights show wasn't great, but it came nowhere close to jumping the shark.

For reference...

Jack going nuts in S1 of LOST: Subtle, well-acted, supported his character arc, resulted in him becoming the de facto leader.

Rick going nuts in TWD: "I'm not sure that allowing you into our group is the best strategic decis--BLAAARGGHH@%\*#@$#*!!!!"

So you're done watching then? Serious question, just wondering if this was it for you.

This episode wasn't so great, but then again it was just picking up right where they left off. Still a very entertaining show and I'm looking forward to seeing how Tyrese's group fits in and how Darryl / Merle join back up with the group.

gigemags-99,
At this point, I'm VERY close to pulling the plug. I know I'll watch next week to see what direction they are gonna go in regarding Merle/Darrell, Woodbury vs. Rick's group, and Tyrese's group vs. Ricks' group.

If there is no clear movement in any of these plot lines then at that point, yes, I'll be done. Like I said, for me it's just wash, rinse, repeat.
There's tension between the groups and some random zombies get killed. At this point you could watch every third episode and not miss much.

this show needs someone to get lost in the prision and they need an all out manhunt search to find them. Maybe stretch that search out over 5-6 episodes, only to find out that the person has been dead the whole time.

Some of you guys take your TV watching very seriously.

To me, regardless of how bad the dialog may be sometimes - it's a hell of a lot better than watching some reality bull**** on E!, and my fiancee enjoys it. It's still a great premise and I enjoy my 45 minutes each week.

I guess my time just isn't as valuable.

I disagree, they wasted half of season 2 looking for Carol's girl, forget her name.

Nice work!!

Mix in a few random people that Rick thinks look exactly like Shane and some appearances of the Ghost of Lori Rabbit and we're talking Emmy material here!!

My favorite quote was from Carl after Rick and the group return to the prison. Carol and everyone is talking about where Daryl is and if he is OK. And then, as they walk away, Carl is like, "wheres Oscar?"

If news comes down through the trades that a large black man has been cast in TWD, Tyrese is as good as dead. AMC's audience can't very well keep up with two entire black guys in one show.

I watch because it's zombies.

But the dialogue and acting is just god awful. Doesn't help that the writing is completely hit or miss. How many "Can we join your group?" "No, I just can't put my people at risk!" conversations do we have to see every season?

I'm an admitted Justified homer, but you watch the dialogue, acting and interactions in that show and then watch Walking Dead... it's just tough to watch.

This sums it up well for me too. I watch for the zombie stuff. And because of Daryl.

All of the other characters are just incredibly one-dimensional. Each one of them literally has ONE expression, that they wear all. The. Time.
Think of Rick - we are all seeing the same expression in our heads right now. Think of Andrea - same thing. Think of Glenn - we all have the same image. And so on.

And the dude playing Herschel is just horrible. He literally sounds like an actor who is holding the script in his left hand and just reading it to help another actor practice or something.

I already miss Daryl.

Even Meryl was more interesting than everyone in the prison.

I think Tyrese and his group will be a great addition of interesting characters. Maybe I just feel that way because we don't "know" them yet...

I know it won't happen, but it would be cool if the focus of the show shifted to the new group. Maybe Daryl and Merle could team up with them and they all hit the road. The most arduous parts of the show are when the group stops moving.

"Bad acting" is almost always bad writing. Lets face it, Norman Reedus ain't winning any awards or anything. He's not a great actor, he just gets better material. The chick who played Lori was actually a pretty strong actor, she was just a s*** character... inconsistent and annoying.

The strongest actor on the show is probably the chick who plays Maggie, actually.

I've only started watching recently and am hooked due to the SHTF plot premise. Zombies could be replaced with killer ducks for all I care. Never read the comic so its brand new for me as well. This is Man v. Man, Man v. Nature, and Man v. Himself all at the same time... Plus you have some zombies mixed in. The many evolving survival strategies and relationships in this "new world" make it a hit for me. However, much of the acting is awful and some of the storylines are just stupid. Im growing to hate Ricks character. Maggie is nails and Glen is growing on me. I was glad to see dale and Lori go. Daryl is of course tops and Carl really doesn't bother me all that much. I hardly notice carol. Herschels character is weird. The whole Woodbury deal is lame, creepy, and insincere.

I've watched the show in bits and pieces (with others filling me in on plot points), so just take it for what it's worth, but there isn't a single character that I give a **** about in this show. There are characters that I hate, a few characters that I don't hate, and a few characters that I respect, but there is not a single character that I actually care that much about and would miss if they were to die. I highly respect Rick. I feel like he hasn't missed a single step and has exercised almost perfect judgment imo throughout the entire show (with the exception of now starting to crack/go crazy). However, I just wouldn't be all that upset if he were killed off.

this is like saying "well I haven't listened to both sides of the argument in full but the guy with argument A wins".

sorry bro, your opinion about not caring about the characters is meaningless if you haven't even watched most of the series.

^Fair is fair. But just to clarify, I started off strong, and in the middle of season 2 is when my viewing turned into more of a "I hover around while my family watches and walk in and out of the room on a whim" kind of thing. They fill me in on every detail that they consider to be relevant. They have given the show nothing but praise.I have enough of a grasp of the show that I could easily convince other people who have watched the show closely that I've seen every second of it. I'm still interested enough in the plot of the show (though that interest is wavering) to keep up, but not interested enough to put in the time to watch it in its entirety.

The reason that I decided to post was to try and get a feel for how other people feel about the show, specifically whether I'm the only one that feels as though this show lacks characters that I can connect to or care about.

I was expecting this episode to be more exciting than it was. Was kind of expecting Meryl to get killed, or another "significant" character during the beginning Woodbury scene. Instead, the "nobody lady" was capped. Won't let this episode deter me from watching the rest of the season, though.

I like Tyreese. Hope to see more of him. Outside of Daryl, he's the one that I'm most interested in seeing get screen time, even though he's only been in the show for a couple episodes. As for the others, well, whatever happens...happens.

After last night's episode, I was thinking what the writers could do to keep this show interesting. WIthout having read the comics, I want to see them introduce cannibals. Not zombies haha, live people who eat other live people. Also, want to see another medical/research type group emerge - maybe out Georgia Tech, Emory, or Univ of Georgia. They develop a so called cure and give it to zombies and it ends up making them more dangerous (i.e. able to run and think, haha).
