edited to add the rule of this thread: I nominate this thread to be the comic-free, spoiler-free, "no one knows anything more than the last episode" thread.

in honor of the preview from this past weekend, i decided to go ahead and start this. i wasnt in on the last thread, so if there are rules regarding spoilers related to folks who have read the novels/series or whatever let me know and i'll amend the OP.

chris hardwick is annoying and drew carey was an odd choice.

was also weird to see the executive producer try to explain lori's odd reaction to shane dying. i 'm still not really satisfied with that explanation.

when does the season start again?

I was just wondering yesterday when a Walking Dead Season 3 thread might start.

As for spoilers, ugh. Last season, we agreed that there should be a thread for people who have never read the comic books and who want to discuss this series each week as if only the tv series exists, and it only happens one episode at a time.
As simple as that concept seems, there were some obliviots (or jackasses) who just could not resist referencing their precious comic books at every opportunity. Even if it was to say something like "it happened different in the comics".

I nominate this thread to be the comic-free, spoiler-free, "no one knows anything more than the last episode" thread. Someone else can start a separate one for the comic crowd and/or the "I searched online and here's what happens in 3 weeks" crowd.

Let's do this! Things that will make me happy if they take place during Season 3:

-Lori dies
-Carl doesn't do something stupid that endangers the entire group
-Merle shows back up in real life
-Darryl continues to kick ass and does NOT develop a relationship with Baldy McGee
-T Dawg keeps living and gets more lines
-Glen and Farmgirl keep it up
-Rick tweaks his accent to make it more believable
-Hershel gets another Killtacular with his infinite shootgun
-Someway, somehow, the Black father and his son from S1 reunite with Rick
-Zombie deaths via Katana

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, as this was discussed extensively last season, but I watched the scene closely yesterday as a result. Lori was definitely acting odd when Rick was telling her about how the Shane scene went down. I think Lori's overreaction hit the crazy level when Rick told her that Carl had to kill zombie Shane. Just my observation.

And I believe the season starts sometime in October.

interesting

a buddy of mine is watching the show for the first time and before the episode aired, he asked me if sophia was in the barn as a walker the entire time...i kind of skirted the question, not wanting to spoil anything, but i gave it away with how i didnt answer it.

he said he was watching the episode where they discover the walkers in the barn, and his wife said "oh look, there's sophia". he went back and watched it and apparently saw her too.

i need to go back and rewatch that scene to see if she's actually in there.

So this is a silly question but are they gonna break season 3 into two parts again?

By the way 1906's excerpt reads, it looks like full 16 episodes. Maybe they do 8and8?

So what are yalls opinions of the 1st season upto Sophia being shot?

I think in a traditional setting that would be the first season arc. And if you look at that arc and evaluate it as the first full season, it is certainly better than some shows first season.

I mean if that were the first season you see a lot of character development.

Rick being tossed into a world he is coming to grips with
Rick-Shane-Lori
Daryll/Merle craziness
Glen becoming a man, not just sexually but taking on responsibilities
Herschel/Maggie coming to grips with the fact walkers arent human.
Numbers constantly dwindling


S2.5 was incredibly darker. They are now in a "post-Sophia" mindset, even Herschel has moved away from humanity and if there was a humanist center of the show, it is gone.
