True... That was a solid episode as well.

right.

half measures is my favorite episode of the whole series. Jesse in the meeting with Gus, the two dealers, and walt. mike's story at walt's. the final minute was more intense than the end of the "one minute" episode, best minute of tv I've ever seen.

What was the last meeting with Gus and Tuco's uncle about though?

Gus saw his chef get killed by the drug lord

Now Gus is the drug lord, maybe Walt is a target? the previews for next show alluded to it

In the podcast for this episode, Vince Gilligan talks about how cool it was having 2 scarface cast members in the flashback scene (tio and the boss).

IMO, that was one of the best flashbacks the show has ever done, and one of the best scenes period.

Gus is basically just rubbing the old man's face in the fact that his ship and legacy is sinking fast. He is getting simple pleasures out of that due to all the backstory that we are getting bits and pieces of.

It seems there is something to do with his past in Chile that he certainly is trying to keep hidden.

It took me a second to realize why Walt's brother in law was wanting Walt to put the gps tracker on Gus' Volvo... At first it seemed like he was onto Walt a bit and was watching his reaction, but then I remembered that he can't walk too good yet and would have trouble wheeling over there to the car and attaching the gps tracker himself.

So good.

I kept mumbling holy 5hit over and over watching this.

When Gus told Hector about the twins getting offed, and said something about I thought it was best you hear it from me. I thought Gus was being apologetic, and worried. Then when Gus asked, "is today the day," I thought he was actually showing some weakness for a sec, and again was worried. After the flashback, I was reminded that Gus is part evil, part brilliance. All Gus did was pat his leg and the dude was huffing and puffing. $20 says Hector loads his depends every time Gus pops in to rub his face in it.

Oh snap, the boss in the flashback was Scarface's right hand man. Tio was the guy that was supposed to set the bomb off but Tony shoots because he doesn't want to kill innocent kids right?

What an awesome episode...

I almost wonder if the old boss really wants to die and keeps thinking Gus is going to just off him, but then Gus teases him and just leaves each time. As in "is today the day" i finally kill you and put you out of your misery or should i keep you alive so you can continue living in this hell hole you never imagined you'd be in while watching what's left of your empire slowly slip away as you are powerless to do anything about it???

I think Gus meant "Is today the day that you apologize for killing my friend and admit you made a mistake by not taking me seriously." At least that's what I got from it.

So who do you think Gus really is? Is he the son of a "Godfather" in Chile maybe?

I see a lot of parallels between the Gus' relationship w/ his friend who was killed and the relationship between Walt & Jesse...Gus sees a lot of himself in Jesse. At the time of the meeting with the cartel, Gus wasn't the stone-cold killer or criminal mastermind that he is now. His partner was the stronger one. He stuck up for Gus and demanded that the cartel accept both of them since they are partners & none of this would've been possible without Gus.

Simlarily, Walt said almost the exact same thing word for word to Gus during the 1st episode while Gus was changing clothes.

At some point after that incident, Gus turned into the psycho he is today. He recognizes that Jesse is following a similar path and sees his potential to take over one day. Gus, oddly enough though, seems more humane about it than the Mexican cartel. Perhaps he knows the hate he's had for the cartel and the long-term plan of vengence he's planned against the cartel and wants to avoid that fate?

Pretty sure Gus and his cook had a little closer relationship than Walter and Jesse.

^Per Gilligan on the AMC podcast this week, it's OK to infer that they are gay, but he's left it a little "open to interpretation"...

I'm interested to find out just who the hell Gus is.

The cartel boss told Gus he didn't kill him because "I know who you are."

Is he Pinochet's nephew or something?

Gotta love the way Gus is emotionally torturing Hector without mercy. Brutal.

That ending actually made me sad to watch. I'm sure there have been darker moments in the show but that one's up there.

I wish this show came on at 7 pm, instead of me waiting until 10 to start it. Too intense, adrenaline pumping. It's gonna be awhile before I fall asleep.

And HD really was that much better.

Let me preface by saying I love this show, but why couldn't Skylar be the one with her head blown off?

The crap she pulled with the IRS would have never worked. She's just a stupid bookkeeper. Why would she need to sign financials in the first place? It doesn't count. It's the CPA who would get nailed.

Now she's going to give the guy 600k. I'm sick of her fat ass. She needs whacking.
