Pretty sure the alcohol is a club-only thing. Kind of like how you can get alcohol in the Zone club at Kyle, but nowhere else in the stadium.

Someone once told me that you can't sell alcohol on state property, so the school pays a fee and "secedes" that particular location/building/room from the state so they can sell it. Have no idea how factual that is.

Maybe the design has changed since the concept drawings. Only one person to ask...CaptDan!

not very I don't think... think about tailgating and MSC/Rudder events that involve bartenders.

Rule allows, however, if we approach game time and the HC seating has not been sold,it can be sold as normal seating by adding chairs. Will not go to waste.

So, longtime season ticket holders get booted out of their dry dark seats permanently, but latecomers who just happen to show up will be able to sit in the HC seating areas that aren't filled? I appreciate the need for better seating for those who can't sit in regular seats - but, wow! are there going to be that many people who need it in Olsen?

Federal rules came into play with the renovations. Whether they really need that many is yet to be seen but the number of HC spots was woefully inadequate before the renovations.

what is the largest number of hc you have seen at a single game? The most I have seen is 5-7

they didn't need to take out over 200 first level seats for HC platforms. a better design could have had them behind all the first row sections, leaving the first level seats unchanged and even more HC spots...
jkag89

The old section could only handle about four or five at best. You would also see a few others that could would have used a space struggle to their seats. One does not know how many decided to stay away because there were not a place to accommodate them.

I agree then number now seems excessive but I'm sure that is the number required by federal law.
ftworthag02
How long do you want to ignore this user?
yes, put them behind the last row of the lower level

I agree w/ rc_cat, its horse **** that if hc has openings at game time then the ticket office will sell those great tickets to people arriving late while long time season ticket holders in those areas were given the boot.

I'm not saying they didn't have to have that many HC seats - I just question their design. To reseat as may people as they had to with the current design it just seems like something could have been done differently that would have resulted in fewer unhappy people.

Between our (forced) new seats and the debacle that's unfolding with GA seats, I'm almost glad I have to unexpectedly miss opening day due to a family emergency.

Alcohol isn't being sold at tailgates, merely consumed. Of course alcohol isn't officially allowed in Aggie Alley, is it? Official meetings/banquets at MSC/Rudder probably require the same state fee, if there is such a thing.

This reminds me of Sherman's first year when he invited the area sports media to a dinner at Koppe Bridge...

Yep they are flag poles. Also just saw: Bill Byrne bought the naming right to the student center. It is just above the side entrance "Bill Byrne Student-Athlete Center"

Illinois-Chicago is here practicing. The GA section is 97% complete. They are working to put the brackets in on the 3rd base side.

It was purchased by someone else and they decided to but BB's name on it instead of theirs... BB did not buy the naming rights himself.

I think Artie McFerren donated the $$$ for naming the Byrne building. Artie one fine Aggie I have known for over 30 years. Very sucessful and has his name on the Athletic Complex, Practice facility at Reed, also lots of $$$ to chemical engineering. A great guy that you would not know had deep pockets as he is very unassuming and down to earth.

Putting a row of seats behind row 8, and allowing free loaders to occupy those seats is pure bull****. They will be full of sips when the Horns come to town--those scumbags know how to leach like nobody else.

I must have been 10 mins behind statboy.

Pictures taken 2-16-12

There were 16 guys working on the 3rd base side. I ran into Capt Dan while taking the pictures and he said they will work all night to get them ready.

A word about HC seating.

1. Must be inclusive. Meaning that it will have to be distributed throughout the park, not is one location. New rules in effect, are seeking to mean this is on more than one level.

2. The number is a factor of the overall seating, not based on how many may or may not show up.

It's the law folks.

The black metal siding has bugged me, too. Looks like its the finished product, though, from the renderings. Oh well.

Ya, really wish they would've used brick instead of the brown mobile home siding. Wonder how much it would cost to put a brick or stone facade on the press box? I'll donate $100.

The press box looks horribly out of place. Why not just brick that?
