Another weird thing about this park...one bullpen...and it's on the opposite side of the dugouts. And get this...one rubber...
and the edge of a building is the right field foul line. I want to see a game at this park!!

I use my blackberry. Everytime you get a picture from there I am working out at the REC. So you have my REC schedule so far. I wait for a break to take the picture so I am not in the way.

anyone know if there will be any improvements (painting, epoxy, power wash, etc) to the existing concrete throughout the stadium? I would assume so if we are going to make all these other improvements to Olsen.
Yes, the stadium will be cleaned. Some paching of the existing concrete, painting of the existing roof deck, etc.

Everyone please be aware that this is a dangerous construction site. You may take as many photos as you wish, but please stay behind the construction fence. If you need/want specific photos, let me know and I will try and get them or I can get with Skanska to provide updates.

Question and a thought:
Why do the outfield lights need to be taken down?!? I assumed that the ones behind the stadium would have to be moved for the remodel, but the ones in the outfield shouldn't be affected by that. They're still good lights (very high), even if they are from 1979.
Scrub really hard in this area! This is where perennial potty mouth Frank Anderson spent most of his time.

They do not need to but they are being upgraded ala the lights at Kyle. More tv friendly.
Correct. The two poles along the third base line needed to be relocated due to construction.
All of the lights will be replaced with new lights bringing the lighting level from "standard" (70 footcandles infield and 50 outfield [probably less due to age]) to "championship" lighting levels (125 footcandles in the infield and 100 in the outfield)
This will allow television broadcasts to happen at Olsen Field @ Blue Bell Park to happen without the network bringing in additional lighting. Hopefully this will make our games more attractive to TV (my opinion).

yeah, because new lights are going the deciding factor for ESPN to pick up 3 instead of 2 of our games. Seems like a waste of money to me. Could've gone elsewhere...
Maybe donate the old lights to Cal, they didn't get enough press during the CWS. Did you hear their program was almost extinct?!

I'm sure it all comes into play when bidding on regionals / Supers.
so you're saying they're sitting in the committee room talking about....lights....?
before long there wont be anything left of the original olsen. Just curious, what do yall think it would have cost to just rebuild the whole thing except for the playing surface?
