Its beautiful! One question, though...Will SEC fans be impressed or will they meh our new venue since it will only be the 5th largest capacity in the West division? Just curious.

Obviously there are bigger college stadiums out there (especially in the SEC), but I think everyone will be impressed with Olsen no matter the size.
You cannot walk up to Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park and say "meh." Show me a stadium with a more awe-inspiring exterior. From the outside, OF@BBP looks better than most minor league ballparks. They've done a great job on the inside, too, and I'm sure we'll continue to improve it throughout the years as more funds become available.
I agree that improvements will be made and seating will be added. I don't know if the big cigars can stand having a seating capacity that isn't top tier. Miss St can hold 15k but they only have around 7400 actual seats.

just because other universities have 10-15K capacity doesn't mean that you have to build a 10-15K stadium. The goal is to sale the place out every weekend. As we continue to return to omaha and crowds continue to grow then we can consider expanding capacity.
...still shocks me that a university that can get 20-30K students to football games...cant seem to get just 2k regularly to baseball games...just 2K...A&M baseball, like BBall, has a small (albeit very loyal) following...we really are just a football school that happens to currently be very successful at other sports...wonder if that will last?

AG12MN, I just don't like the outside of the MSC. I love the new park, hell, I love Kyle Field, but there are definitely things I would change. I'm not saying I won't use the MSC, but I am very underwhelmed by the outside. The bricks on the North and West sides of the MSC right now look terrible, and they're not in the plans to be replaced.
To me, when you renovate a building, it's supposed to almost look like a new structure (see Olsen to Blue Bell for an awesome example). The MSC looks like they were just putting lipstick on a pig so far. I really haven't been crazy about any of the renderings I've seen and I walk by it every day as well.
Go look at the new lib arts building on the east side of campus and tell me the brick isn't ugly. It's definitely not consistent that's for sure. I don't think consistency is too much to ask for from here on out.
Either way, I love the park, and it's going to be awesome to watch games there.

I have a pretty good feeling that they put the berms in because it will be every easy to one day cover them in concrete and put seats on them. I guess we just didn't have to money right now.

Lose the bevel on the atm logo's on the exterior and it wins big time!
I absolutely love the new Olsen Field, but I've changed my mind on the berms. I understand the thinking behind them and I still think it can work, but it'd be much better as benches like you see down the lines at Brickyard in OKC.
Of course I've heard (unsubstantiated) that the berms were built with the idea that they could be replaced by seating down the line, though I still suspect that outfield seating or some sort of plaza will have higher priority in the coming years.

Haha...this went off topic. For the record, fans from the SEC and across the country that have seen the pictures are blown away by the new park.
Personally, I'm just going to sit back and celebrate the opening of an absolutely gorgeous park. Wish I could be there.

With the likes of Florida, LSU, Arky and SCar coming in we are going to have to increase seating.
I could see us building outfield stands above the wall. Of course that would eliminate the alley and they would have to raise the scoreboard.
That way the berms could still work but one way or another we are going to have to take seating to above 8K some day in the future.

Working in the new Ag Headquarters building I get to drive by almost daily (depending on whether my wife and I carpool to work) and let me just tell y'all...the pics don't do it justice at all! You think this thing looks good on your little computer screen, just WAIT til you walk up before a game. It will blow you away!
berms are infrastructure for future permanent seating. as someone else said, as we continue to win games, host regionals, host super regionals, and return to Omaha, attendance will go up, funding will go up, and then additional permanent seating will be needed. Relax & enjoy the new Olsen! See yall tomorrow!

after watching tcu throw up their stadium west side w/ pre-fab concrete sections, it wouldn't take long to rebuild kyle

Ag1996 - it's a great thread to see 20 collegiate baseball stadiums in one place. There are some beautiful parks around the country.
Baylor got dinged on that list because they don't have any suites. I guess they didn't want anybody *gasp* drinking at a baseball game.

The list was made by an LSU fan, I think that might make it just a bit biased!
I got away an hour early today. I'm driving by Olsen and see the Casa Ole tents on the berm concourse and the KBTX tent out front. They are broadcasting from Olsen for their 4 o'clock show.

I'll put it this way, if UFCU Disch-Falk was in College Station I would not consider it a top 10 park. The turf is hideous, and among the other aesthetics it drops way outside of the top 10. Other than that, I think the tiggerdropping list put it together pretty well.
Actually, I'm not sure I would list Oregon that high either. Their press box and suite level is pretty cool though.

Mason, how did getting up there work? They check for IDs at the stairs?
UFCU Disch-Falk is waaaayyyy too high. Olsen is top 4 IMO with Box, Baum, and Carolina.
If you bought a guest pass they gave you an aqua blue wrist band and if you came through the student entrance they gave you a yellow wrist band. Then they checked for wrist bands.

The ballpark looks amazing! It will only get better as the site work is completed.
