Coming together!

On that pre-cast flooring....do they fill in the gaps with expansion board/filling, concrete???

I am not an engineer...so don't kill me if this is a simple answer.

My guess would be concrete. When I went on a tour Dan explained to me that they will grind down the flooring to make it smooth and angle it towards drains so water will drain. They also will add a sealant on top.

yes. All gaps filled with high strength grout. (5000 psi)

New and old concourse will be cleaned and then waterproofed and then topped with a cemetitious concrete topping. Should look like it is all one continuous slab when done.

So I just took the pictures and I have to say that the 3rd base grass seating is going to be a great spot to watch a game. If I don't sit in 203 I may go sit over there. With the shade the building will provide and how it turns in it should be great. I'm headed into the REC now so I should post them in about 2 hours or so.

What is with the infield grass? Looks like a tarp on the grass from the pics but I'm sure that isn't the case. Are they resodding now that fall ball is over?

I thought they were resodding where the 2nd baseman and shortstop stand at the edge of the grass. I don't know what they are doing in the infield. Also, notice in the picture where the scoreboard is in the center, that they cut some grass strips out in center field by the wall and they are taking down the wall padding.

Noticed the padding but didn't notice the strips cut out. Whatever they are doing to the actual playing surface I am not worried about. Leo is one of the best in the nation and he will have Olsen Field ready for opening day. That field is in good hands.

That is a tarp on the infield. Don't know why. Not part of construction. When we put back the warning track, athletics will have them replace the infield dirt with a more SEC type dirt. (Alabama clay? )

The tarp on the infield is to keep the temperatures up on the grass and soil so it won't go dormant so early.

Tarp on infield is a growth tarp. Its put down to trap heat and encourage as much growth of the bermuda as they can get before it goes dormant.
