The Force finds a way.

Okay, so what are some questions going forward?
1. Was Kylo telling the truth about Rey's parents being nothing of special? If yes, does it mean anything other than the force being a viable to anyone and not birthright? If no, who are her parents? I choose the latter and that they are siblings. I know Snoke said he manipulated them but I think the power to connect to each other was their own doing kind of like Luke and Leia.
2. Who was Snoke?
3. Where are we going next? Kylo and Rey have their own academy's?
2: Snoke is a mystery.
3: Kylo will rule the universe, and Rey will still need to be trained by force ghost Luke, Yoda, Kenobi, etc...

The lack of a plausible explanation for Rey's proficiency with the Force is a problem for me from a script standpoint. It's a fairly well established point by now that being "strong with the Force" isn't exclusive to being a Skywalker; anybody can learn to become a Jedi or Sith. But it is also hammered home repeatedly that training is necessary to control the Force or duel with a lightsaber. Anakin, Obi-Wan, Luke, and Kylo all needed training to develop their raw abilities. Rey's sudden, instant awakening wasn't earned and wasn't explained.Ulrich said:
Rey: Felt like she was a little bit on hold here. Her character was developed, but the real point of this middle movie is with Kylo and Luke. I still think she has a lot of backstory that will come out in the third movie where she is the unquestioned Main Character. She's too skilled in the Force and there are too many dangling threads from TFA (especially the flashback and Han's expression when he appears to know who she is) for her to be some random kid.
This made no logical sense either. The success of the "hacker" plan depended completely on luck. The only way to identify the master hacker was his lapel pin? Really? What if he forgot to wear it that night? What if he decided to go to a different casino? What if he was on vacation on some other planet at that time? And then the very guy they need just happens to already be in the same cell with Finn and Rose, without that lapel pin? This entire sequence just felt badly written to me.Quote:
Maz: Her appearance felt like fan service, only no one is really a fan. All she really added was the factoid that led to a mediocre side plot that could have been avoided.
Totally agree. It would have been much cleaner story-wise if the First Order was tracking the Resistance via Leia's transponder. Moreover, since the "secret plan" was to fool the First Order by letting them follow the cruiser while the Resistance escaped to Krait, it could have easily been explained as a key part of the plan. The "hyperspace tracking flux capacitor" technology was unnecessary and overly complicated the plot for no apparent reason other than to set up a showdown between Finn and Phasma.Quote:
Leia: Superman Leia was a bad idea. They missed several chances to kill her off and I think they probably should have gone through with it. Otherwise, MUCH better acting this time around and played a real role in the story. I also thought that the first order should have been tracking them via the transponder thingy she shared with Rey. That would have been way better than inventing a technology that wrecks a lot of the dynamics of space war.
This was a huge missed opportunity in my view. Ackbar's ultimate sacrifice would have simultaneously been his greatest victory. This would have elevated Ackbar's status from just a funny internet meme to one of the most important and legendary minor characters. Instead, we get Laura Dern as Commodore Decker? What a waste.Quote:
Laura Dern: just have her part played by Akbar. Tighter, cleaner, accomplish fan service.
Yes, it should have been AkbarG Martin 87 said:

I went to the 1am and didn't see anyone dressed up either but there were quite a few cheers throughout the film.Belton Ag said:
Our showing here in College Station was very different than the one for TFA two years ago. There was nobody dressed up (for TFA we had multiple Yodas and a Vader) and very few cheers.

I read that Ackbar's voice actor died in April 2016 at 93, so that may be why they didn't give him a sendoff.DannyDuberstein said:
Lose Laura Dern. Give Ackbar a great sendoff. Find another way for Finn to highlight the elements (hope, war machine profiteering) that the codebreaker plotline was leveraged for. Instead of such simple plot devices as a warpspeed tracker and codebreaker, maybe uncovering a traitor takes Finn to that planet and brings those elements into the plot. Doesn't necessarily have to be a traitor, but do something a little more complex that ties into how they were tracked in the first place and allows Del Toro's character to be introduced and then betray
'm most looking forward to Kylo Ren as Supreme Leader. The Emperor was evil, but he was very calculating. He gave into his anger, but he controlled it. Kylo Ren is unstable. He went ape**** in the middle of a battle because he saw his father's old freighter. Having that guy in charge of the galaxy would be terrifying.caleblyn said:aggiephoenix02 said:1: We saw the slave kid force grab the broom at the end. Anakin came from a slave. Oh I know they'll keep making Star Wars movies. But the "Episodes" are the Skywalker story. There are no more Skywalkers.
Kylo and Leia aren't dead. Luke's got a role to play yet.Dr. Teeth said:MBAR said:Unlelss Disney decides they hate money there will certainly be a IXDr. Teeth said:

Seems excessive.

Im a huge Star Wars fan and really enjoyed the movie. How is it any different from binging a 13 episode show on Netflix?
I sent an email to staff and I think they banned him now.aggiephoenix02 said:What did they say? I missed it...Brian Earl Spilner said:
Yup, that's always the main reason I want to go to the first possible showing. Ended up not mattering since that moron spoiled me on here anyway.
Was there any repercussions for the poster doing that?
