Took some lessons from Valbuena!
Quote:
Bregman, the youngest member of the U.S. team, is behind established stars Nolan Arenado at third base and Brandon Crawford at shortstop on the depth chart and has been on the field for only half of an inning on defense in addition to the pinch-hit at-bat.
"The downside of being on a star-studded team is very minimal playing time," said Hinch, who spoke with Bregman late Sunday. "There's not much he can do about it. Going five or six days with one at-bat is a tough part about being on that team as a reserve."
I didn't realize that, honestly. I get wanting to represent your country, I really do. But we need him on from the start of the year - it would be much better if he was with the team.Mr.Ackar07 said:
Have we talked about Bregman not having a real spring training?Quote:

I don't think Singleton is trying anymore. Dude is almost Prince Fielder size at this point...
Let this be a lesson in incentives to any of you who control budgets out there. Your employees respond to incentives. Novel concept for some.zagman said:CorpsAg11 said:

He got paid and threw the hat in. Have a nice life Jon. We hardly knew ya
Well whoever writes A&M's coaching contracts sure hasn't learned.Buck Compton said:Let this be a lesson in incentives to any of you who control budgets out there. Your employees respond to incentives. Novel concept for some.zagman said:CorpsAg11 said:

Only people who are internally motivated or driven by a passion continue to drive after an incentive like that goes away. After trying a million other things, the most effective incentive has still proven to be money. If you have any motivation concerns, you don't offer a contract like that.iBrad said:
Not everyone gets complacent when cashing in, and I don't think that's why Singleton struggles. He just didn't pan out. Smart decision by him to agree to the deal when he did.
