I'm not as sold on Bregman as everyone else is.
You don't get many opportunities to get an Ace in a trade.Mr.Bond said:
Bregman could be DAMN good. I understand the key word is "could" but God we passed on Jeter, and I don't want to make that same mistake again. Not saying he is Jeter today but he has all the tools Derek had but with more power

I am too, but I don't want to sell the farm and Bregman.gougler08 said:
The more I think about it, the more I would be ok w/ trading Bregman (and some minor leaguers) for Sale
I would be fine with numbers like that. That's a very above average ML hitter even in the age 38 season.aggie1906 said:
Over the last 4 years Edwin has averaged: .270, .363, .541, .905 with 38 HR & 110 RBIs playing in 144 games per year.
He'll be 34 next season and the decline will happen. Say we sign him to a 5 yr, 120 M.
Would you be happy with numbers like these? ( just pulling them out of my ass)
34 - .270, .350, .530, .880, 38 HR, 115 RBI
35 - .270, .345, .515, .860, 32 HR, 105 RBI
36 - .260, .340, .505, .845, 28 HR, 95 RBI
37 - .250, .335, .490, .825, 22 HR, 85 RBI
38 - .240, .330, .475, .805, 20 HR, 70 RBI
AVG: .258, .340, .503, .843, 28 HR, 95 RBI
The career finish would be fairly similar to Delgato, Berkman, Bagwell, or even Joey Bats previous 2 years.
Thoughts?
I do not want to deal Bregman. The potential he showed in his short ML stint is just ridiculous. Even with the 2 for 38 start, what he would do over a 162 game season is ridiculous (43 doubles, 27 homers)... Plus he provides elite level defense at 3rd base.aggie1906 said:I am too, but I don't want to sell the farm and Bregman.gougler08 said:

If it is going to take Martes, Tucker, Musgrove on top of Bregman to land Sale then I think it is too much. I would rather go after someone like Gray or Archer at somewhat discounted price compared to Sale. Obviously they aren't Sale, but I think they're worth taking a shot on and enough to make a real run at it when our offense is carrying us.
Please please please.. I breg of everyone on here. Even if all of this happens, can we not just assume we are going to be the best and win 110 games?Nuke LaLoosh said:
You guys realize that sale, even with the loss of breggy smalls, likely makes us favorites to win the pennant right?
He certainly put butts in the seats last season. I never saw so much purple outside of LSU events than I did at Minute Maid. I wonder how many of those fans are/were not Astros fans.Duck Patrol said:
I would say Bregman is untouchable. He's going to be a hometown favorite.

I was about to say, Breg is great, except for the fact that he's a DIRTY CORN DOG LOVING BOURBON BOTTLE THROWING LSU TIGER.
