Oakland seems so random. I guess they see the value.

Please please please land him. I want a true CRUSH city. EE would lead the way.

Gonna be creating this lineup with a boner here in a minute.

Oakland wouldn't have to give up a first round pick to sign him. It makes sense for them, especially if they can get him on the cheap.

If we sacrifice a first round pick for him, I'd want him locked up for at least three years. No first year opt out like Cespedes had last year.

who is this guy?

**EDIT**

He's not Brownie, but he'll do.

Google search says "Todd Harry Kalas (born December 31, 1965) is a television broadcaster for the Tampa Bay Rays. He is the son of the late longtime Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame and Philadelphia Baseball Wall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas."

Used to see Kalas when we lived in Florida and watched Rays games. Liked him.

I like his voice. Paired with Blum, it should be a good combo.

His dad is one of the best in the business.

I know Blummer will provide some of this, but I'm really going to miss the Astros history and institutional knowledge that Brownie and even Alan Ashby brought to the broadcast.

ETA this article: http://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/Astros-hire-Todd-Kalas-as-new-play-by-play-10813280.php which addresses my concern a bit. He does have a history with Houston and the Astros and with Blum so that could be good. Still not the same as Brownie though. :-(

Gonna miss Brown, but not going to miss Ashby one bit. They could have brought in Bill Worrell and I would have been happy.

So playing around with a lineup including EE is a dad gum game changer. In Astroline, Hinch has said that he really doesn't want to break up the top 4 (he did say that Reddick could do it as the 2 hole vs RHP, though). So with that note...

And after looking at that, I don't think it will happen without moving one of those guys...

EE at 1B = Springer to CF, Yuli to LF, and Reddick to RF

Kind of sad that jake still cracks the LHP lineup...

Glad it's not Texas

I'm still not seeing the Oakland angle here.

They suck and they don't really have any kind of young core to build around. It's not like this one player will push them over the top.

Could this be more of a play to hush up the anti-Oakland pot bangers that claim the A's arent spending/tanking? Not really a baseball move but more a political one.

Yea that's a steal compared to the numbers floated earlier in the offseason. 3 years is probably perfect. Wonder why he chose that offer.

They're a pretty solid bet to make the WS as long as they have that kind of rotation.

It's really an easy choice if it was down to OAK and CLE.

And while we're at it lets take a moment to relish the fact that he didn't chose Texas and they still have some pretty solid holes to fill.

I'm hopin they continue to miss on Napoli and end up signing Chris Carter.

Should have fkn paid up. Cleveland now the team to beat.

Absolute steal. I don't see how Houston, Texas, Toronto, New York, & Boston let him go to the Indians who have the best pitching in baseball & just went to the WS for that cheap.

If they weren't the favorite to repeat they sure as hell are now.

Incredibly frustrating. I don't see how they aren't a lock for the pennant. I guess that's why you play the games...

I know a large portion of the Astros pitch was the many team ties to Central America. Indians also fit that with Lindor and Santana and whoever else I'm not thinking of off the top of my head

Harry Kalas call of Jim Wynn's HR over the 457 foot mark at Forbes Field.

CF was so deep they kept the batting cage on the field.

Toy Cannon. Imagine what that guy would do to today's game.
