The rangers fans on their thread were laughing at the possibility of us giving EE a giant 5 year deal. Now they'll come out and say what a great deal and great signing.

EE situation sounds like his agent mismanaged and blew it. His agent was thinking he would get him into a bidding war but exact opposite has happened.
So how far does he come back down before teams hop back in? 4 years at 20 per? 5@20? Even lower?shano0603 said:rosco511 said:

He's not Mike Trout.
Seems as if the Jays might have moved on from him. They already have Smoak. Signed Morales and now Steve Pearce.
I think he's still worth more. If he signs for that or less and it isn;t to Houston I am going to be pissed. 4 years of EE at 20 M >>> 1 year of Beltran at 16 M.Basketball and Chain said:
EE should've taken 4/80 from Toronto.

At this point it doesn't sound like EE is going anywhere.
Yep, we got him and Jimmy Paredes from the Yankees in the Berkman trade. We then traded Melancon for Jed Lowrie and Kyle Weiland. We then traded Lowrie to Oakland for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock, and Max Stassi. Weiland got injured and never made it back.shano0603 said:
Remember when we had Mark Melancon?
Except that we do not make the playoffs in 2015 without Carter's great September (even though I hate the guy and his performance up to that point was one of the reasons we were in a close race).iBrad said:Yep, we got him and Jimmy Paredes from the Yankees in the Berkman trade. So all-in-all, not much of a return for the Berkman trade.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweeted this morning that rival execs get the sense that the Nationals and Astros are the most aggressive teams on the Sale market, and the Braves are in the picture as well. As is the case with the Nats and Turner, the Astros (Alex Bregman) and Braves (Dansby Swanson) each have a young core player whom they effectively deem to be untouchable in trade talks, even for someone of Sale's caliber.

It is "unlikely" that the Rangers will sign a "big ticket" free agent, GM Jon Daniels told reporters (including Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News). Texas has been linked to the likes of Edwin Encarnacion, Ian Desmond, Mark Trumbo and other notable free agent names this winter, and the team has notable question marks at first base, center field and DH. If free agency isn't as likely an option for the Rangers, they could continue to pursue trades.

So HOU, TEX, NYY, TOR, and BOS are all out (as of now) on EE.
Who the hell is gonna sign this guy? His agent seriously fcked this up.

Now you come at him with an opt out clause to entice him to sign.
Year 1 -259
Year 2 - 25
Year 3 - 25
Opt out clause
Year 4 - 15
Year 5 - 10
Or something like that.
