That and it would mean Ariza would have to show some production two years from
now versus three years. The guy has a history of slacking off in non-contract years.

Solid move by rockets, $15M annually is too much for parsons. Still need to have money to pay a PG (either Beverly or someone not I their roster yet) so this allows that. Plus ariza has greater defense ability than parsons and can hit spot-up 3s.
They can trade Ariza if they need to clear room, particularly since his cap number is decreasing. Also we have extra space right now to continue to improve. Coasting two years just because Durant is a free agent in 2016 is stupid.

I agree that coasting for 2 years is dumb.
Maybe I'm missing something but why would Durant go to Houston? He's from DC, the thunder have treated him well, he's not Lebron 2010.

That makes sense. The Bulls were getting Gasol. The Rockets Boozer. It wasn't clear to me who the Lakers were getting.
Anyone know what kind if cap space we have available for Bledsoe? Sounds like he's going to get a max offer based on chandler and Hayward getting them.

Agreed. Parsons guarding 4's will give me serious heartburn
Parsons playing defense on some of the 4's in the league would absolutely be a horrible idea. However, the thought of some of the 4's trying to guard him is laughable. Definitely would need to step up his defensive game for something like that to work. I have a feeling we wouldn't see that lineup often. Just in some different circumstances.
I like the value pickup w/ Ariza. Much better than some of the guys coming off the bench last year. It was pretty much a crap-shoot to see who could come up with a hot hand.
Lastly, word has it Daniels wants to stay here in Houston. Working on a deal. Would love to see him frequently flashing the 3-goggles this season.

First impression, I'm not a fan of that potential lineup. Ariza and Parsons seem redundant to me.
I don't think we have room for Bledsoe.
Canaan, Daniels, Ariza, and Asik/D-Mo/free agent coming off the bench is an upgrade from last year IMO.
I still think it wouldnt be the worst idea to match on Parsons even after the Ariza signing. having one of those 2 on the floor at all times could be a good boost for the offense. let harden run point for some periods of time with both on the floor or limited times of small ball with Asik at center since he can run the court and get back on d a little better than dwight. problem is at best you are paying $8M a year for a sixth man or $15M if its Parsons.
Not sure I really like it but I guess it's worth a try. Parsons better elevate his game if he's going to get paid like that.
That's going to be one expensive small forward rotation. Seems like a strange decision to sign Ariza and Parsons.
