There's no reason that they can't still find a nearly equal replacement for Parsons. They were a four seed last year and should get better with another year together and more experience for all the young guys. Back away from the ledge.

So realistic guys to go after assuming parsons is renounced? Deng/Ariza/Bledsoe...is it too late to go after Gasol?
I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see us add some good value players and then match Parsons. Enough with replacing key players every year.

Letting Parsons make 950k this year is a slap in his face given the opportunity to pay him this summer. He'd probably leave next year if they didn't make him an UFA this offseason.

I would have been hoping that would fall through if I were a true Rockets fan. As a casual Rockets fan (though declining over recent years as they get farther and farther from the hard work and low profile concept personified by Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier), I'm largely ambivalent to the outcome except insofar as it affects my Spurs chance at repeating. As I've insinuated a couple times, I'm actually more worried about a Harden/Howard/Deng trio with a solid supporting cast in year two than I was about a four man team.
As for the list, I was just trying to demonstrate the difficulty of hitting several consecutive events even if each one has a fairly high probability.

I'm in the camp of add Gasol (overpay if needed) and take Chandler with the Bird rights. While it wouldn't be Bosh, it will still be an upgrade and would be cheaper

I'm in the camp of you can't blame Morey too much. The way the NBA works by and large is tank and get lucky or swing for the fences.

If Morey is a bad GM, then who is good? Even if you think he's overrated, tell me who's better. Consider that our garbage owner kept the team in NBA hell for 3 straight seasons when Morey probably just wanted bottom out. Few GMs are that handcuffed.

Not really...I'm guessing that he was pretty aware of the risks. Things didn't work out. You can't fault him for the effort and idea...you can't always predict when a player values money over potential titles.
Morey is a fine GM. Sometimes guys want money over championship opportunities. Miami is going nowhere in a hurry with a star player who won't play 1/3 of their games. By choice.

You can't match Parsons now because you can't lock yourself into this team. Let the Mavs have a few runs then build around Parsons. I'd throw huge money at almost anyone who wants 1 or 2 year deals. 1 year 18 million for Ariza is okay by me.
