Please not the Warriors. I wouldn't be able to handle seeing Chandler in a Warriors jersey.

Plan C is Lowry and resigning Parsons

Lowry and McFail didn't get along in their first stint together so I doubt that is an option.

Asik to New Orleans for future 1st round pick...

I was thinking that Lowry didn't leave on the best terms.

Wonder what DM will do next. I would think the pick is an asset in the next trade he is going to pull

Yep just clearing cap space and acquiring an asset

Weird trade restrictions.

NOLA keeps it if it is 1-9.
Houston gets it if it is 10-19.
NOLA keeps it if it is 20+

I remember hearing something about Lowry saying he would be ok with McHale now, or something on the lines where it would be plausible.

And I guess another option could be Bosh, if he opts out.

Super weird restrictions. NO almost guaranteed another lottery pick next year. Almost seems like NO didn't really want to give anything back to Houston for the trade. Don't know much about that team though.

NOLA will probably make the playoffs in lower seeds.

Anthony Davis is the next great PF. He led the league in blocks last year with 2.8. To that he added 21/10 on 52%/79% shooting.

Ryan Anderson 20p/7r and Jrue Holliday 14p/8a missed almost the entire season with injuries. So did Jason Smith (10/6). Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans missed 18 and 10 games. Davis missed 15.

ALl those injuries and they still won 34 games in the toughest division in basketball. If everyone is healthy, this is a very good team.

People are saying 4-19 then it goes to Houston.

And Davis is a beast already. Having Asik man the 5 will help him a lot. Houston is likely getting a pick in the mid to upper teens.

But New Orleans still has issues offensively, and Asik certainly doesn't fix that. The west is so stacked that New Orleans will still have a tough time making the playoffs. I like their chances, but it's no sure thing.

I read its 4-19

Its 4-19.

NO will not make the playoffs, you need to win 50 games in the West to make the playoffs, NO isn't improving by 16 games. They would need to move past Dallas, Phoenix, Minny and Denver just to have a shot at the 8th seed. Rockets got a lottery pick in the 11-14 range for Asik.

No, but whatever gets LeBron is fine with me.

All those injuries you mentioned, well those guys miss a ton of games every year. No reason to think that will change. Asik makes them better but not 10-15 games better.

Not at all. As I stated if you post above yours, I think Melo is incredibly overrated.

I love the trade now that it's 4-19

Jrue Holiday had missed 9 games, 0 games, 0 games, 4 games in his previous 4 seasons.

Tyreke Evans had missed a few games here and there, but only really had one real injury before - plantar fascitis.

Ryan Anderson has played almost every game for the last two years. He missed about 15 games a year his first three years, but wasn't a regular rotation player, either. His injury last year was a freak collision/neck injury that required surgery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqkfFkQmq_c It isn't like he is damaged goods like Rose and keeps blowing out knees.

Jason Smith has been very injury prone, but he is easily the least important of the rotational players listed. 4th best post player on the team.

It was an awesome trade for Houston. Like somebody already pointed out, we got Asik for cheap for 2 years and could potentially get a high lottery pick or nice asset to trade. Either way he had to go if we're signing somebody.
Guitarsoup

I think it works out well for both teams, other than NOLA having to pay a ridiculous amount to Asik (Houston is sending 1.5mm to help defray the costs.)

Asik for 1 year and 13.5mm is not super, super bad. And it allows Davis to play at his more natural position of PF and lets Ryan Anderson come off the bench, which is nice.

Good for both teams. Nice trade by Morey.

Soup, you still think this is a smokescreen?

Echoing an earlier report from USA Today’s Sam Amick, Howard Beck of Bleacher Report (on Twitter) hears from a rival executive that the Rockets already have a Jeremy Lin deal lined up and ready to execute if they need the cap space to sign Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James. It’s likely that the Rockets flip the first-rounder they’re acquiring from the Pelicans in the Omer Asik trade, writes Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Oh well, if someone from Bleacher report says they have a trade, it must be true.
Ryan34
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They'd probably send cash with the trade. If they really want to trade him, I think they can.

They can only send 1.5mm to offset the salary.

The Warriors have told the Rockets that they’re on board with trading for Jeremy Lin, reports Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group. Chris Broussard of ESPN.com wrote Wednesday that there was a decent chance that Golden State would be willing to accept the point guard via trade as Houston attempts to clear his salary, as long as Chandler Parsons was also part of the deal. Thompson’s report makes no mention of Parsons, however.
