Roberto Martinez handicapped his team today. Portugal probably has more overall talent than any team in the comp and he completely mismanaged their squad.
As a Liverpool fan, I'm happy he didn't get Jota injured, but his decision to leave him on the bench was idiotic.

I still think France has the most talent but they're handicapped by Deschamp.

Don't act like if someone offered you $100 million a year to play a sport you wouldn't do it. He's not the first or the last big time player that will do it

Its why you should never care what any athlete or actor does outside of the realm you watch them in. They arent your heros, they are entertainment.
Not that I could prove it here, but I truly wouldn't take it. I am one of those weird people that needs a clean conscience in life. Granted I'm fortunate that's it's easier to do from a solid position financially (though not nearly $100 million), but he was also already north of 500 million in net worth before that contract, which is why claims of "look at all the money!" rang hollow to me. He had multi generational wealth already. I also said other may have a different POV on that, which is fine.
And again, that's before the rape allegation, the financial fraud, the way he left Man U etc. But if others want to like him have at it. He's just not for me.

But I do think you can't separate the two, if for no other reason than that so frequently whatever demons a player has end up translating to their on-field play. For the sake of brevity, I'll just use Weston as an example of how off-field indulgence and indiscretion is affecting his on-field performance. Or another famous example for us Aggies would be JFF. But there are countless others.
And on the flip side, I do think it is worth admiring people in any profession who get money/fame/power yet manage to keep their nose relatively clean despite the trappings.

The ref for this game seems to be really on top of things. Done a pretty good job so far managing the game and keeping the players in check

He didnt change the formation...maybe on paper, but he is still playing trippier and walker along with 2 central playing defenders. It's literally the same lineup minus one swap at cb due to cards.
Saka isn't defending and is just setting up shop as a wide forward.

He's not really even playing wing back. Walker is filling in behind him and he's occupying his usual IF position 90% of this match
